Beware, the article contains Episode VIII and IX spoilers!
The Hollywood Reporter tried to drag out some information from Disney about the future of Princess Leia in the upcoming Star Wars movies. The sad passing of Carrie Fisher on 27th December 2016, was very unfortunate and hard on all of us, the Star Wars fans. Her role as Princess Leia was expected to grow in Episodes VIII and IX.
…at least two key scenes are planned for Episode VIII (Dec. 15) and Episode IX (2019): a Leia reunion with Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) and a confrontation with Kylo Ren (Adam Driver), her son who killed Harrison Ford’s Han Solo in 2015’s The Force Awakens
In fact her role and appearance in Episode IX was expected to be the biggest of all 3 movies in the new Disney Trilogy. The shooting for Episode VIII is long over now. Usually Disney starts shooting the Star Wars movies in the beginning of an year, so the process for Episode IX is expected to start in early 2018 for a 2019 Winter release.
There is no further information from Disney as to what the princess’s role will be in the final episode. Even the script, which is currently being written, is kept a secret.
