Disney officially confirmed the next location Episode VIII will go to – Ireland
According to StarWarsNewsNet the next place the Episode VIII production has moved to is along the so called “Wild Atlantic Way”. This is a tourism trail on the west coast of Ireland. The 2,500 km driving route passes through nine counties and three provinces.
From RTE we learn also that
Disney Lucasfilm have developed a strong affinity for Ireland, and I am delighted to see them return to Ireland for further filming around our beautiful and dramatic coastline
We believe that having Star Wars: Episode VIII film on location in Ireland will also help to build on this success, creating further opportunities and growth for the Irish film industry, resulting in increased levels of job creation, incoming tourists and foreign direct investment to Ireland.
Tight security measures were enforced on sea around Sceilg Mhichíl and on the mainland during filming, restricting media and public access. Security personnel are already in place at Ceann Sibéal preventing access to the headland, which is privately owned.
The fans’ comments are already teaming up around the subject (or should I say “hopes”) that we should see more main characters and well known actors on the set, unlike what was spotted in Dubrovnik in the past days and weeks.
Here are a few pictures of Ireland’s landscape where the movie will be filmed. For more, be sure to head over and check the links I shared above in the post.
