CD Projekt Red released for the first time an open to the public PTR in December shortly before the December Update, introducing over a 100 new cards and a ton of new features, such as cards row limits, new animations and UI changes. If you have missed all that, you can catch up with my Overview Article.
The PTR is available for free to everyone, but with a few limitations. It’s only on PC in English and may not have the capacity to allow all players to log in at the same time if the demand is too high. This means you might have to wait for your turn now and then. The good news is that absolutely all cards will be unlocked for you to check them out.
How to install the Gwent PTR
Please, note, the following options will only be available when the PTR is online and available to access.
Open your GOG Galaxy Client (download from https://www.gog.com) and make sure it is updated to the most recent version. Navigate to Gwent (the normal game should be installed, of course and click “MORE”, then “Settings” from the drop-down menu.
Next, on the right side of the window, find “Beta Channels” and switch it to “ON”.
Finally, from the drop-down “Channels” menu choose “PTR”. When you do this for the first time, it will begin a downloading process of the Beta Gwent client. Once you are done, you can click on “PLAY” and enjoy all the new features InGame.
When you log in for the first time, you will find yourself at lvl 1 and will have to go over the short tutorial again. Please, remember that unless CD Projekt Red has stated otherwise, by default, you cannot transfer any of your newly unlocked cards or currencies from PTR to the real game or the other way around.
