DC’s Titans will return for another, third, season. The TV show, that I rate as one of the best in the DC Universe, was announced to have a third season today.
So we can continue to follow the adventures of both the current Titans including Raven, Beastboy, Connor Kent, Starfire and Robin. But also the old Titans are still pretty much around. That line up includes: Wondergirl, Hawk & Dove and Robin. Aqualad, unfortunately he is no longer among us. He was shot and killed by nemesis Deathstroke.
Titans season one
Back in 2018, Titans season one launched and I admit, I was impressed by the trailer. The iconic line “Fuck Batman” was that what made me want to watch the show in the first place. When I started to watch, I soon figured out that the Titans were an R-rated show. It was bloody, it had swearing and the storylines were very mature. More mature than I had seen so far in a tv show based on comics. Mature language and gorey scenes all completed the feel of the show.
In season one, Dick Grayson is no longer with Batman and goes his own way. During the day he is a police detective in Detroit and at night he fights criminals as Robin. He is trying to find himself and wonders regularly who he is and what his purpose in life is post-Batman.
Slowly but surely, he is lured back into the world of Superheroes and he finds Rachel aka Raven. Beastboy and Starfire along the way. When the team gets together, they fight Trigon, who claims to be Raven’s dad, and prevail. But not without damage.
Titans season two
The second season has new and old Titans get together in a headquarters in San Fransisco. Together they fight evil and this time it is in the form of Deathstroke. Deathstroke was the reason why the old Titans disbanded before season one started. His mindgames, tactical combat and hand-to-hand combat proved too much for the team.
Dick Grayson is still trying to look past his Robin persona. Which is why we won’t see him wear a costume for most of the episodes. Over the course of the show, strange things happen in the Titans tower and it becomes clear that their old foe, Deathstroke, has returned to stop the Titans from ever getting back together again. That’s how big his grudge is!
The renewal
Titans was renewed along with Doom Patrol. Doom Patrol had a backdoor pilot in Titan’s first season. Other shows that will soon launch on the DC Universe streamingplatform and HBO Max are Stargirl and adult oriented animated series Harley Quinn, voiced by Kaley Cuoco of The Big Bang Theory fame.
Unfortunately we will not see the Titans nor Doom Patrol in the upcoming TV crossover of the Arrowverse called Crisis on Infinite Earths.
