Lost Ark - March 24th Update

Lost Ark March 24th Update: New Event, PvP Season 1, Gifts

RubyRose by RubyRose|

Small at first glance, the Lost Ark March 24th update has everything you could probably want as a player. Events, PvP, and even some gifts!

It’s March 24th and Lost Ark’s weekly patch has gone live. This patch has some fixes as usual. In addition to those fixes, we’re getting a lot of fun things and goodies to go with it. With the combination of things being added, there’s going to be a lot of extra honing materials being given out and earnable with the new events.

Patch Highlights

There are a few big things to talk about here alongside the fixes contained in this patch. Pretty much all of these add more ways to get honing materials which will overall make it easier to progress into Tier 2 and Tier 3. You can read up on what these honing materials do in our Gear Honing and Transfer Guide.

Casual Guardian Raid Event

Enjoy Guardian Raids in a more casual way! Relax, play, and get honing rewards. ‘Scale of Balance’ is applied to change the character’s stats to match the Guardian’s level, and the difficulty is adjusted according to the number of participants in the raid. Players will be able to challenge Helgaia, Frost Helgaia, Lumerus, Ur’Nil, Vertus, Chromanium, Nacrasena, Dark Legoros, Icy Legoros, Calventus, and Levanos! This event will last for roughly a month, and players with item level 250 or above will be able to participate.

Similar to the Grand Prix, you can enter once a day (per roster) and earn event-specific coins to spend on rewards at a new vendor. Completing the Raid during the week will grant 200 coins, and a weekend win will grant 300 coins.

This vendor can be found in major cities besides the entrance to this new activity, and will be fully stocked with Tier 1, 2, & 3 honing material chests, Metallurgy & Tailoring Books (used to increase honing rates), and a T3 Gem chest— available to be nabbed every week until the event ends. You can check our Gem System Guide for more information on how Gems work in Lost Ark.

We’ve got everything you need to know about the Casual Guardian Event in Lost Ark in a guide dedicated to showing you how this even works and how to get the most out of it!

Our Thoughts

Much like how the Arkesia Grand Prix Event does for honing materials already, this will also be a big source of additional honing materials. With it having a separate shop and coin for this event as well as the Grand Prix running at the same time, it will make it a lot easier to get honing materials.

Overall the event sounds fun, being a Guardian raid that has you fighting multiple Guardians in a row. It also gives you buffs to make doing so easier and more fun to do. All in all, it’ll definitely be another event you want to get done daily.

Competitive Proving Grounds Season 1

Competitive Proving Grounds Season 1 will begin after the March 24 downtime for the weekly update. Players will be able to queue solo for the ‘Team Deathmatch’ mode, battling each other for prestige and rewards. As you win or lose Competitive matches throughout the season, you can track your ‘Competitive Match Average Score’. Your rank is determined by your score, as are the rewards you receive when the season ends.

Season 1 will last for roughly six months, and we’ll share details on the end date (and season-end rank rewards) as that deadline starts to approach. While you’ll receive some items based on your final rank, the majority of PvP rewards will be earned through accumulating coins through Proving Grounds gameplay, which can be spent at a new vendor located in major cities.

The vendor will have a mix of weekly rewards and season-long specific rewards. The weekly rewards include honing materials and XP potions, while the season-long rewards include cosmetic and functional items, like mounts, titles, and more. Players will be rewarded for progressing through grades and tiers with access to additional weekly honing materials and other vendor items.

Our Thoughts

After being mentioned earlier this month in our coverage of the “Hunt for the Guardian Slayer” Update, it’s finally kicking off. While it’s not an activity that’s absolutely necessary to progress your characters in PvE, it certainly will have its benefits for participation.

If you’ve been enjoying PvP already, this will make it more fun and rewarding for you. You’ll be able to play Ranked PvP matches and go after the coveted Master and Grand Master Ranks, which will only be given to the top 100 players in each region.

Our Thoughts

It’s good that they replaced the Jukebox songs with honing materials. While the Jukebox will be a fun addition later, there’s a good chance that if they didn’t add the Jukebox with this patch, people would have been unhappy with a part of the free gifts. Personally, gifts are gifts to me. This swap however greatly benefits the playerbase more than the Jukebox Songs could have.

The free skins look great as well, albeit a bit silly. Though personally, I have no issues with any of these and will end up using one of them for my alts. The free pets are adorable as well.

Additional Patch Notes

Below are the Changes and Fixes included in this patch.

Akesia Grand Prix Reward Adjustment

  • Added Metallurgy & Tailoring Books (used to increase honing rates) to the weekly reward table.
  • Increased quantities of weekly honing materials to ensure players are rewarded for participation.
    • Destruction Stone Crystal (Bound) is now in bundles of 50 and can be redeemed up to 10 times.
    • Guardian Stone Crystal (Bound) is now in bundles of 150 and can be redeemed up to 10 times.
  • Increased coins earned to make purchasing the new items and snagging the rewards you want easier. Chaos Dungeons and Guardian raids now grant 125 coins (instead of 100) for the first two daily completions per character. The Grand Prix itself can now award up to 888 coins for a daily completion, up from 800.

New Fraud and Bot Prevention System

We are continuing to listen to player concerns and take a hard stance against bots. In this update, we’ve included a new prevention system to crack down on bots and fraudulent purchases. Players who have a Steam account in good standing and have met the small purchase requirement needed to use Steam’s social systems shouldn’t be impacted. Players who have not met this ‘Trusted’ status through Steam or Lost Ark will have reduced access to a small number of social and economic systems. Specifically, these accounts will have smaller daily Steam purchase limits than ‘Trusted’ players and be prevented from:

  • Initiating player-to-player trades (requests can still be received)
  • Sending in-game gifts
  • Exchanging Royal Crystals for Gold
  • Sending in-game mail with attachments

Our goal is for players to always enjoy their time in Lost Ark, safe from users engaging in fraudulent purchases or the negative impact bots have on both the economy and player experience. The only dangers in Arkesia should be the Demonic hordes, voracious wildlife, and colossal Guardians. We strive to remain both flexible and transparent, listen to feedback, and create the best experience possible. Please remember that real-money transactions (RMT) such as buying or selling Gold or other in-game items (to players or on secondary marketplaces) is prohibited under our Code of Conduct and will result in disciplinary action.

Additional improvements to our anti-cheat programs have also been enabled in this update to help prevent cheaters and bots, alongside a few more changes we’ve developed with Smilegate RPG behind the scenes. We can’t spill all our secrets, or those engaging in these activities would catch wind. We know this won’t solve everything, and we will continue cracking down on users engaging in fraudulent purchases and bots.

Messaging Updates

  • Added clearer messaging on failed purchases.
  • Updated and improved localization and in-game translations.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed an issue that allowed players to accept the quest “Off to the Races” without being level 50.
  • Fixed voice chat related issues in the South America region.
  • Fixed an issue that could cause Adventure Island rewards to only be claimable once during the weekend.
  • Fixed an issue with the World Boss Achievement. Players that earned this achievement previously will now see it completed.
