The Essential Legends Collection is growing fast! Only two months ago six books were announced, and now, three more will join the list: Revan, Deceived, and The Bacta War. These titles will arrive on November 1, 2022.
The Essential Legends Collection is a compilation of books that Del Rey is re-releasing with new covers. This collection is going to include the best Star Wars Legends stories ever written, and by Legends, I mean that they are not considered canon. But that doesn’t mean that they’re not super fun to read.
Here are the next releases that will join The Essential Legends Collection.
Star Wars: Revan (The Old Republic)
One of the most iconic characters in Star Wars history. The powerful Jedi left Coruscant against the will of the Jedi Council to aid the Republic in defending important systems against the unstoppable Mandalorian army. He succeeded and everyone in the galaxy knew his name, Revan, the hero of the Republic.
What very few knew was what he had done to put an end to this war and the consequences of said actions, the seeds of darkness were in place. Even after winning the war, he wasn’t sure that the Republic was safe. So, he took a small army and went into the unknown regions to investigate a dark presence.
When he returned to the Republic, Revan and his apprentice Malak were now Sith Lords trying to conquer the galaxy that they once defended. Revan was captured and the Jedi Council erased his memories, giving him a new chance to prove himself.
The memories of what happened beyond the Outer Rim are gone, but what happened there will haunt him forever. His first attempt almost destroyed the Republic, but as long as that dark entity is out there, Revan won’t be able to rest. Only death will stop him from trying.
I haven’t read this book, but playing Knights of the Old Republic will give you better context that could make this book more enjoyable.

Star Wars: Deceived (The Old Republic)
This is the second novel based on one of my favorite games of all time, Star Wars: The Old Republic. Darth Malgus is a Sith warrior that has crushed the Republic’s defenses on many occasions. His physical strength and alignment with the dark side of the Force make him an enemy that very few Jedi can compete with.
In a surprising move, Malgus brought the war directly to the heart of the Republic. He led a group of Sith into the Jedi Temple and annihilated everyone that stood against him, including Jedi Master Ven Zallow. Then, he took Coruscant as a hostage and forced the Republic to sign a treaty that would give the Sith Empire control over half the galaxy. You can watch these events in this cinematic trailer!
Aryn Leener, Jedi Knight and former Padawan of Ven Zallow, was in Alderaan when her master was cut down by Darth Malgus. She’s going to find out what happened to her Master, even if that means breaking the Jedi Code.
Paul S. Kemp is a bestselling science fiction author, some of his books include The Hammer and the Blade, The Twilight War, and The Godborn. He also wrote Lords of the Sith and Crosscurrent. Deceived was published on March 22nd, 2011 by Del Rey.
Star Wars: The Bacta War (Rogue Squadron Series)
The fourth and final book in the X-Wing series. Tyrant Ysanne Isard has taken control of Thyferra, a system with a very important supply of Bacta. Bacta is a substance with incredible healing properties, without Bacta, many of the Rebel Alliance’s soldiers would not be able to heal their injuries and continue the battle against the Galactic Empire.
Rogue Squadron, the Alliance’s most notable squadron is outnumbered and doesn’t have the support of the Alliance. There aren’t any reinforcements coming to save the day, if Roque Squadron fails, this will be the end of their existence. Despite this, they will fight an uphill battle to free the people of Thyferra and acquire its invaluable supply of Bacta. Intelligence will have to prove its superiority over brute force.
