DC’s Chief Creative Officer Jim Lee has indicated that there will be no more Snyderverse movies coming to the DC Movie Universe at the SDCC.
With the San Diego Comic Con underway, Warner Brothers and DC’s Chief Creative Officer Jim Lee of Batman and formerly X-men fame, have said that there will be no new movies in the Snyderverse.
So the Snyderverse one and only movie in the DC Universe will be limited to The Justice League. This is a big blow to the fans who made the hashtag #RestoreTheSnyderVerse trending on social media.
“You know what’s amazing, is that we spent two years in lockdown — and here we are, back at a convention, celebrating the art form, feeling good.” Chief Creative Officer Jim Lee said during a panel at San Diego Comic-Con 2022.
“I work on the projects that are in development. And so, I think the Snyder Cut was Zack’s vision realized, and it was a really satisfying story told, but there are no plans for additional work on that material. So, I was happy to help contribute to the pitch for the other stuff, and it was kind of fun to actually see that stuff get out there, ’cause I did that years ago. I actually thought it had been erased, but they had kept it in storage.”

I have to say that Jim Lee being too nice about no more Snyderverse is much too kind. There is a lot of history between Zack Snyder and Warner Brothers, the company that owns Detective Comics (DC Comics). Warner Brothers own the copyrights to characters like Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman.
There are a lot of weird things happening around The Snyderverse and how the movie was recut and rereleased. Here is a breakdown of why The Snyderverse won’t be revived by Warner Brothers.
The #releasethesnydercut and the bots
There are discrepancies on how fans wanted the Snyderverse version of the Justice League to come to life. Back when the hashtag #releasethesnydercut was trending and it trended for years, well it turns out that around 13% of the Twitter users who kept the hashtag alive were fake accounts or bots.
According to experts, the reported normal amount of bots seen on trending topics ranges from three to five percent. So having 13% is very questionable to say the least.
But the most peculiar news is that insiders seem to think that Zack Snyder is behind the bot surge. As the story goes, Snyder wanted two names removed from the credits before the retooled version of The Justice League was released.
The names are Geoff Johns and Jon Berg. And during a confrontation to have those names removed, Snyder threatened two Warner Bros executives that he will start an online war.
Snyderverse fans instigate cancel culture
Seeing as Zack Snyder already had a large, primarily toxic, following on social media, it was easy for him to start. And it was a bloodbath. Warner Bros executives received death threats.
Many fell victim to canceling culture through online harrasment, blocking movies with Geoff Johns and/or Jon Berg on the team. It went so far that even the security division of Warner Brothers had to step in because some of these poor people couldn’t even get home without fearing for their life.
And while marketing companies looked in awe at how the hashtag #releasethesnydercut had millions of tweets a day and tried to figure out how they can do the same, it became quite apparent that when the movie was released that the millions dropped to approximately 40.000 tweets a day. Which raised the suspicion of foul play.
An investigation into the matter revealed that most accounts that kept the hashtag trending were fake. That is not to say that all of those accounts were fake or that Snyder’s followers were few, it is just that the incredible increase was just not realistic.
Snyder fueled the fire by posting pictures of himself holding the harddrives that had the Justice League: The Snyder Cut on them. He captioned the photos with: Is it real? Does it exist? Of course it does!
The Snyderverse: One year later
Now one year later, Zack Snyder no longer works for Warner Brothers but for Netflix. Geoff Johns, one of the victims of the cancel culture campaign, is still with Warner Brothers. Jon Berg recently penned a five-year movie deal.
And the others, well some did survive the cancel culture attack. While others have moved on to different projects outside the entertainment industry. It may feel like a victory but it is shameful that creative people like Geoff Johns receive the short end of the stick.
The fans however have not stopped. With a new hashtag #restorethesnyderverse, they are calling for more director cuts like Suicide Squad. While director David Ayer already fueled the fire by saying that the studio version is not his version.
Warner Brothers has moved on from Zack Snyder. With movies like The Batman and the upcoming Flash movie and other properties, different directors were tapped and Zack Snyder has not been involved with any of the projects so there won’t be a Snyderverse at all and Warner Brothers is attempting to reboot the DC Extended Universe for the umpth time.
Let’s hope that they do make the connections between the movies instead of making them all stand-alone and then attempt to create a universe out of that.
