D23 is Disney’s biggest event of the year; the cast, staff, producers, and executives from Disney, Marvel, Pixar, Lucasfilm, and Disney Parks attend to show some of the plans they have for the future. A very exciting event where fans are able to learn about their favorite franchises in a more intimate way.
Here are all the Star Wars announcements that happened at D23 2022.
Tales of the Jedi
Tales of the Jedi is an animated series that explores crucial moments in Ahsoka Tano’s and Count Dooku’s lives. The series will have six episodes, three dedicated to each character.
Dooku’s fall to the dark side, his relationship with Qui-Gon Jinn, and a deeper look at his inner conflict are some of the things that have been teased. An intricate character whose motivations are even more complex. After twenty years we’re finally going to learn more about a villain that is often overlooked.
Ahsoka has experienced very important moments in her life. Becoming a Jedi, being assigned as a Padawan under Anakin Skywalker, experiencing the destruction of the Jedi Order, and watching the rise and fall of the Empire. From an innocent force-sensitive child to a self-exiled Jedi, her journey is full of ups and downs and we’re learning more in Tales of the Jedi.
All six episodes of Tales of the Jedi premiere next October 26th on Disney+
Here are my personal highlights of the trailer.
The last peek before Andor premieres
We’re less than ten days from the first three-episode premiere. Teasers, trailers, and interviews have been around for the last months, I don’t know about you but I’m pretty excited about what we’re going to see. Learning about a top republic operative that isn’t afraid of doing the dirty work is something rarely explored in Star Wars media.
Diego Luna, Adria Arjona, Kyle Soller, and Genevieve O’Reilly attended D23 to share their thoughts about the process and plot without giving away too much.
It’s a dark moment for the galaxy, the Empire rules with an iron fist and no one is exempted from surveillance; senators, soldiers, merchants, and civilians. Genevieve O’Reilly talked about Mon Mothma’s impossible task: to create a rebellion while being immersed in the Imperial Senate.
Diego Luna shared a message for the Spanish-speaking fans: “Thank you very much to everyone in this venue who speaks Spanish, but especially thanks to the Spanish-speaking public that is watching this in Latin America, Mexico, Spain, and in the US”.
He also talked about him and Adria Arjona dubbing their characters for everyone who wants to watch it in Spanish.
Andor releases on September 21, 2022, with a three-episode premiere.
Here are some interesting facts that show why this show is set to be different.
The Mandalorian Season 3
Din Djarin, Grogu, Greef Karga, and Bo-Katan return for the third season of The Mandalorian. The story will take our protagonist to Mandalore, where he’ll try to reinstate his honor after admitting to removing his helmet in front of someone else.
Bo-Katan sits on the throne, but that doesn’t mean she’s the rightful leader of the Mandalorian clans. The dark saber is still in possession of Djin and it must be taken from him by battle. How far is she willing to go?
The long-awaited season premieres in 2023 on Disney+

Ahsoka
For many years, I believed that Disney would move on from Star Wars Rebels and its amazing story. Ahsoka made her live-action series debut in Season 2 of The Mandalorian, suspicions began to rise but nothing was confirmed. A couple of years later it is confirmed that Ahsoka will continue the journey to find her old friend, Ezra Bridger.
The series is under production so there’s no trailer or teaser yet, but we know some of the cast members and it’s looking very interesting. Natasha Liu Bordizzo as Sabine Wren, Eman Esfandi as Ezra Bridger, and Mary Elizabeth Winstead is rumored to be playing Hera Syndulla. Ivanna Sakho and Ray Stevenson are also on the show but their roles are still unknown.
This image was shown at the Ashoka panel, it is a live-action recreation of the Star Wars Rebels final scene.
Ahsoka is coming to Disney+ in 2023.
The Bad Batch Season 2
The Bad Batch is an animated series made by Dave Filoni. Season seven of The Clone Wars introduced “The Bad Batch” aka Clone Force 99, a squadron of clones with genetic anomalies that make them perfect for tasks that would be impossible for regular clone troopers.
Originally, it was set to release on September 28th,2022 but for reasons, we ignore the series was re-scheduled. The sixteenth-episode series is going to have a two-episode premiere and will be available on January 4th, 2023.
Here is everything you need to know about The Bad Batch TV Series Season 2.
Star Wars: Young Jedi Adventures
A show for the little younglings, Young Jedi Adventures is an upcoming series about the path of Kai Brightstar, a Jedi youngling that is inspired by Master Yoda to follow the teachings of the Force to eventually become a great Jedi Knight.
Nash Durango is the other co-star of the show, a brave pilot who happens to befriend Kai and join him in multiple adventures all over the galaxy. The series is set during the High Republic era.
Kai Brightstar is voiced by Jamaal Avery Jr, and Nash Durango by Emma Berman.
Young Jedi Adventures is coming to Disney+ in 2023.
Skeleton Crew
By far the series we know the least about: a group of children who end up stranded on a planet during the New Republic era. Jude Law is going to play a major role in the series written by Jon Watts.
Dave Filoni previously stated that the show’s tone is similar to the Clone Wars, which doesn’t tell us that much but at least we know it’s not something aimed toward small children like Young Jedi Adventures.
Skeleton Crew is set to release in Fall, 2023.
Din Djarin and Grogu arrive at Disney Parks
If you’ve been to Disney Galaxy’s Edge you know that it’s possible to encounter some of the characters walking around the park.
Originally, only characters that appeared in episodes VIII and IX would be wandering around but at the beginning of 2022 Disney announced a change of plans.
Original and legacy characters would join the roster, a few months ago Boba Fett and Fennec Shand arrived at Galaxy’s Edge.
Grogu and Din Djarin will be the next ones to land at Disney Parks in November. They look amazing!
Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga adds new DLC characters
The biggest Lego Star Wars game continues to get content. When the game was first released, it was already the Lego Star Wars game with the most characters available. It included fan favorites like Luke Skywalker, Darth Maul, or Boba Fett and some non-conventional ones like Jabba the Hutt and Maz Kanata.
A few months after its release date, seven DLC character packs were released, these packs included characters from The Mandalorian Seasons 1 & 2, The Bad Batch, Rogue One, Classic Characters, Solo: A Star Wars Story, and a Trooper Pack.
Six more packs have been announced and they include characters from Obi-Wan Kenobi, Andor, The Book of Boba Fett, Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Star Wars: Rebels, and the Lego Star Wars Summer Vacation special. All packs will be available on November 1st.
I hope that I’ll finally be able to play as a Jedi Temple Guard, it’s probably not going to happen but I’ll still enjoy using Captain Rex or Sabine Wren. Which character do you hope they release in this DLC?
