Gotham Knights: Where to find Kirk Langstrom

Where to find Kirk Langstrom in Gotham Knights

Manfred by Manfred|

Where to find Kirk Langstrom in Gotham Knights is the very first mission. You will need to get deeper into why Batman was investigating him!

In Gotham Knights, you can start playing with either Batgirl, Robin, Red Hood or Nightwing. I started to play with Batgirl. As Batgirl you are tasked to find files on Kirk Langstromm. He is also known as Man-Bat in the comics.

Finding Kirk Langstrom’s office

You will be dropped in front of the university and you will need to get to Langstrom’s office. You will be dropped onto a ledge and from there on out you will be able to grapple in. You will get instructions from Nightwing who will guide you through your first mission.

Grapple in and walk through the hallway, there is only one door open and it is Langstrom’s office. Your first detective tool is the AR scanner which allows you to find anything in the office.

Press the button that is indicated on your screen and if you look carefully you should see golden sparkles light up from the floor. That is your first clue.

Follow the golden line out of the office. If it starts fading, hit the AR scanner button again. (It is X if you play with a mouse and keyboard on the PC but a pop-up will appear on your screen indicating what button to press).

Use the button that pops up to find tracks and follow them.

You should see a pop-up and hold the button while it scratches.

Follow the tracks.

Once you are down you will find an old laboratory and it looks like a fight took place between Langstrom and a perpetrator. The police have been sloppy and only checked half the tracks and evidence.

Lucky for you and your AR scanner, you can get the other 50%. Use the AR scanner and you will see the evidence appear, it looks like Langstrom wasn’t trying to get away but holding to a glass case. Time to look further.

Gotham Knights: Where to find Kirk Langstrom

You will come across a desk that has several clues. Use your magnifying glass, which will pop up automatically, and click the button that appears to investigate the clues.

The first clue is an old movie poster with a date that says 04-11-92. It is a reference to the movie The Gray Ghost premiere re-release.

The Gray Ghost is, of course, a reference to one of the inspirations that created Batman and a tribute to the film noirs from the 1930s.

The second clue is a calendar that has the following marked: October 20th and 21st. But there are no clues about what those dates mean. It’s time to look further.

The thermostat is the third clue. And Batgirl notes that a thermostat is a clever place to hide a keypad. So apparently we are looking for a keypad or something with numbers. Although it is uncertain at this point what the thermostat connects.

The 4th clue is an old microwave. But this microwave appears to be modified with computer parts that aren’t typically found on these types of appliances. The display has room for 3 digits.

Then there is the 5th clue, a sticky note that has a North American phone number written on it. The area code says “127” and it is underlined. North American codes are not permitted to begin with 1.

Gotham Knights: Where to find Kirk Langstrom

When you start figuring out and connecting all the clues then you see that the input device is the microwave.

The code 1`27 is automatically put in by Barbara. You don’t need to do that. The passcode is 2021 and when Barbara enters that, again you don’t have to do anything here, she will do all the work, and a door to an underground lair will open.

Kirk Langstrom’s secret laboratory

Go through the door and go all the way down. When you are down you should see a laboratory where secrets experiments have been done by Langstrom. It smells and the experiments have all failed. Langstrom isn’t the nicest of people.

The objective is to find more evidence for the illegal experiments Langstrom was conducting.

You find tissue samples. Organic materials collected from various animals. Samples seem to be primarily sourced from creatures from Langstrom’s lab. Notes also mention fatty tissue from a dolphin, tenrec skin cells, and orangutan saliva.

And by his computer, you will find a hard drive which you will take back to your new base of operations Belfry.

Use Ambush Takedown to exit Kirk Langstrom’s

Move out of the laboratory and leave the area through the door. But nothing ever goes easy so you will encounter some resistance outside as a gang is trying to tear down this entire building.

Take them down one by one and head to the next area where you will take down the rest of the gang using ambush takedowns.

Ambush takedowns go as follows: Quickly knock out an unsuspecting enemy with Ambush takedowns. They make enough noise to alert nearby enemies so be prepared for combat.

Take all of them down and head to the next area.

Reach the statue and from the statue try and get to the door on the other side. There is extra bonus XP available if you take down the gang members while remaining undetected.

Gotham Knights: Where to find Kirk Langstrom

Use Ambush Takedowns where available and if you manage to get to the door without getting detected you should see a pop-up that says Bonus Rewards.

When you enter the door you see complete anarchy and total chaos but also hostages. You need to free the hostages before they are killed by the gang members so do it swiftly.

Fighting The Bulldozer mini boss

And just when you have freed the hostages, a new enemy will enter the battlefield. He’s called The Bulldozer and he’s a mini-boss. He carries a big shield which he will hide behind and you will need to use your heavy melee attack to break through that shield.

You will learn a new ability called Guard Break:
Heavy Melee Attacks and Guard Break Abilities can get through enemy defenses, leaving them vulnerable to other attacks.

Once you have defeated The Bulldozer, you can safely exit the area on your Batcycle.

And it looks amazing.

Gotham Knights: Where to find Kirk Langstrom

Head back to Belfry, your base of operations, and learn to use the GPS for that.

GPS Navigation:
The Batcomputer’s GPS system allows you to see directions while driving the Batcycle. Follow the arrows for the best route to your next objective or a custom waypoint you’ve marked on the map.

Enter the Belfry and you will find your teammates and an unexpected guest walking in. It’s Batman’s loyal butler, Alfred. He joins the team.

After that, go back out and check for crime in the city. You will find your AR Scanner button to find spots where crime is.

Fight off two mobs and you will receive a phone call from Alfred. He tells you that the hard drive you took from Langstrom has bio encryption on it so you will need to find his DNA to unlock it.

Entering Gotham City Police Department

In order to find his body you will need to head over to Gotham City Police Department (GCPD) and find Langstrom’s body in the morgue.

Gotham Knights: Where to find Kirk Langstrom

Head over to GCPD and stealth your way in. There is an indicative marker on top of the heads of, in this case, the agents. It starts out white and becomes yellow if the police get suspicious of someone present and red if they are alarmed.

With white you are safe. When it’s yellow you better get out of there while undetected and with Red they are on to you and will want to kill you.

This is not just the police. When you are out and take down criminals, the same indicator will appear over their heads. Extra bonus points for remaining undetected.

When you get inside, you will need to head to the officer’s Bullpen. While you head over there you will come across your first easter egg in the evidence storage room.

Feel free to browse around and find a decommissioned Batsignal, Scarface, diamonds stolen by Catwoman and Ra’s Al-Ghul ceremonial armor.

Decommissioned Bat-Signal:
The Bat-Signal was how the late Commissioner James Gordon summoned Batman to GCPD HQ. Even as time went on and t heir relationship developed beyond the need for it. Jim would still use it as a symbol. He use to say it was a promise to the people of Gotham City, that Batman was out there, that they were protected. He also called it a warning, a dare almostto the city’s underworld. “Just try something and see what happens.”
Following Jim’s passing, new Commissioner Catherine Kane had the Bat-Signal removed from the roof and submitted into evidence.

Scarface
Item: Ventriloquist Dummy
Suspect: Peyton Riley AKA The Ventriloquist
A wooden ventriloquist dummy known as Scarface, seized from Peyton Riley, the daughter of Irish mob heavyweight Sean Riley. Peyton Riley claims innocence for all charges against her stating it was the dummy who is actually at fault. This includes two homicides.

Ra’s al-Ghul’s ceremonial costume
Item: Ceremonial Costume
Suspect: Unknown
Filing Notes: Ceremonial garb found on unidentified body recovered from Wayne Manor ruin, includes cape and serveral 10-carat gold detailing. The costume appers to be quite old and is likely worth thousands.

Diamonds stolen by Catwoman
Item: Stolen diamonds
Suspect: Selina Kyle AKA Catwoman
Filing Notes: Several pounds of diamonds stolen from Gotham City Jewelers in Old Gotham in a heist, one of several suspected to have been performed by the serial cat burglar Selina Kyle.

Bypassing Gotham City Police Department Security Cameras

After you have inspected the easter eggs, find the next area through the door and avoid the security cameras.

Security Camera:
Security cameras can alert nearby enemies to your location, trigger reinforcements, or activate other security measures.

Tip: Use AR to search for a nearby control panel. Use the control panel to deactivate the camera.

If you stay in the corridor in the hallway then use your AR to scan a box at the end of the hallway. You will find a nice amount of crafting material called Titanium Mesh that will come in handy later.

Now that you have passed the security cameras without alerting the police that is present. You will head to the morgue. On your way over you will find morgue workers who are unconscious. You are not alone.

Talia Al-Ghul, daughter of Ra’s, is there as well and she stabs Ra’s with a dagger and then throws the dagger into the door nearby Barbara. After that Talia cremates Ra’s body.

Barbara will take the dagger back to Belfry to have its’ DNA analyzed and can only conclude that the real Ra’s Al-Ghul was cremated and not a fake body.

Barbara finally finds the body of Kirk Langstrom and is looking for clues to solve the whereabouts of the bio key that is needed to unlock the hard drive.

How to find Kirk Langstrom’s body encryption key

Use your AR Scanner for the crime scene and reveal additional information. You will find several items. A phone, a MMORPG key, a diabetes blood glucometer, a urine sample, a blood sample, a soft tissue sample, and a medical report detailing Kirk Langstrom’s medical conditions before he died and his cause of death.

Use your AR scanner to scan the evidence and then make the connection as to where the bio decryption could be.

Read through all the descriptions of the AR Scanner and try and figure what two items combined would make a bio decrypted. You will find that combining his blood glucometer and his blood combined is the key to decrypting the hard drive back at Belfry.

It turns out that Kirk was conducting illegal experiments and Batman was looking for evidence to lock him up. The hard drive leaves clues about his experiments on humans and thus were very illegal.

Next up, check out the guide on where to find Harley Quinn in Gotham Knights and how to do her intro mission, which is a continuation of this one.
