How to find the bugs in Penguin’s office in Gotham Knights

Manfred by Manfred|

The Penguin’s office in the iceberg lounge has been bugged and it’s up to the Gotham Knights to find the bugs and destroy them! And this guide is here to help!

The Penguin is the next target in Batman’s final investigation into Kirk Langstrom. Penguin is on someone’s payroll and might want to talk. Time for the Gotham Knights to look up Oswald Kobblepot.

Find the Penguin in the Iceberg Lounge

After you have investigated clues on the board with your team members, you have concluded that Penguin is the only person who ever sat out his sentence. And that he may be willing to talk because someone isn’t paying him to keep quiet.

Head over to the Iceberg Lounge find the window on the roof and climb in. You will find 8 guards, some are armed, and the others are not.

You will get bonus points for coming in undetected so stealth your way through, although that is a bit of a challenge. Take them down and you will find yourself in a cutscene with the Penguin complaining that the door you just kicked in was expensive.

When you confront him with the clues you found, Penguin is not willing to talk. Simply because you don’t impress him at all. That’s something that needs work. So you will find yourself at the exit, just as fast as you entered.

Chat with Alfred at the Belfry

Back at the Belfry, you will have a chat with Alfred. You tell him about what happened at the Iceberg Lounge and Alfred consoles you by telling you that Batman had the same issues at the beginning of his career.

Alfred tells you that you have kind of left Gotham unguarded while you were investigating Batman’s last case of Kirk Langstrom. The crime rate has gone up and continues to go up because you are the absentee landlord of Gotham who isn’t aware of what’s happening.

The Gotham Knights agree, the city has been suffering because you weren’t there so it’s time to take the power back.

Attract Penguin’s attention

You will find two new missions to attract Penguin’s attention. One is a crime called Penguin’s Criminal Deal and the other is called Penguin’s Organ Trafficking.

The missions are not optional and you are required to do them. So it’s not just one mission and Penguin is back.

Also, you will find on the board, 2 new missions involving Lucious Fox and Rene Montoya.

Penguin’s Organ Trafficking mission

It’s time to go out on patrol in Gotham and stop crimes and get the attention of Penguin. Organs are big business and Penguin has a big hand in it in Gotham. It’s time to head over to stop the crime.

The Penguin in Gotham Knights

You will go to Robinson Park and arrive at a square that is heavily guarded by several light mobs and heavy mobs. But also a lot of security cameras.

There are two ways of doing this.

You can brawl your way out and you trigger the canister’s timer that keeps the organs frozen. If you set off the trigger, the organs will defrost and become unusable. And it’s hard if you have to fight off mobs in order to get the canister to Doctor Jade Thompkins. If you can get the canister and run off without beating any of the mobs and just run then you can finish the mission easily.

However, there is another way. And it’s the best way to do it.

Stealth your way to the top. Take down the two snipers on top silently. Then wait for the mob holding the broom to walk away and you can turn off the cameras and take down the laser bars encasing the canister.

You can now just walk over to the canister, take it silently, move to safety and you will get a voice comm from the Belfry. They will tell you that Doctor Thompson is waiting for you and the organ.

You will still trigger the timer whether you go all out or all stealth, which is set to 1m45 seconds, but with no mobs chasing you, it takes off a lot of pressure. Head on over and try not to hit any pedestrians.

Penguin’s criminal deal mission

The second one to get Penguin’s attention is to stop a deal between two gangs. This one is fairly straightforward. It is a bunch of mobs that you will need to take down one by one.

It can be tricky because they come in both numbers and strength. But use your AOE ability as much as you can. Lure them into grouping together to get the max out of that ability.

The objectives are:

  • Defeat all 10 enemies
  • Retrieve the mod chips that you can find in the back of the van.

The bonus objectives are:

  • Bonus: Defeat enemies with Ranged Attacks.
  • Bonus: Mark Enemies

This is what the mod chips boxes look like and you need to get all 3.

New contact helps Rene Montoya fight crime in GCPD

Meeting Rene Montoya is another way to get Penguin to listen to you. There is no action sequence at all for this. It is one big conversation and I have summarized it:

Ever since Jim Gordon’s death, corruption has risen within the ranks of the Gotham Police Department. The people on Gordon’s team are left hanging and get a lot of blame because they won’t take any bribes.

The new commissioner is only half the commissioner Gordon was. She’s unable to stop corruption or clear the ranks. But then she doesn’t have a Batman at her side either to stop the corruption.

The Penguin in Gotham Knights

Instead, Rene Montoya turns to the Gotham Knights for help and gives out her phone number to the Gotham Knights. You will get new missions and help the Gotham Police Department weed out corruption within the ranks of GCPD.

How to find the bugs in Penguin’s office in the Iceberg Lounge

Now that you have Penguin’s full attention you have to go back to the Iceberg Lounge.

Entering the Iceberg Lounge is still the same as the first time: go through the rooftop window and upon entering there are a few mobs that you need to take down. The bonus is to not take any damage.

This could pose a problem with a heavy hitter in the group that can hit really hard and fast. So if you want to finish the bonus, do not get into too confined spaces like a stairwell but keep it in the middle of the room where there is enough space to evade the attacks.

Once you are done with that, you will enter the Penguin’s office and he is impressed by your stopping his criminal dealings and is willing to talk.

He puts on classical music and whispers in your ear that his office is bugged. It’s up to you to find the bugs.

There are exactly three of them and you will need to use your AR Scanner in order to find them all.

The first one I found was inside the lamp that is stationed on Penguin’s desk. Hit your AR Scanner and click the bug and your character will take it out and destroy it. That’s one down.

The second one is located in the plants that are right behind the Penguin. So behind his back next to a laptop. Use your AR Scanner and you should see it light up. That’s two down.

The third and last one is located behind the antique guns gallery inside a bust. Just stand behind the antique guns and hit your AR Scanner and you should see something light up that looks like the indicator on the photo. That’s number 3.

Keep in mind that there is no particular order in which you have to destroy the bugs. This is just one way of doing it.

Once all that is done, Penguin will start talking about a secret organization called The Court of Owls. They are the ones who killed Kirk Langstrom. The Court of Owls is the same one from the comic books. They have some very good comic book storylines that I would recommend reading.

Easter eggs in Penguin’s Iceberg Lounge

The Penguin is such an iconic rogue in the DC Universe, that he has a very rich background as well. In Gotham Knights, he has some very interesting art in The Iceberg Lounge that also provides so extra background about The Penguin and his family.

The Chessboard

In chess, the player using white pieces always makes the first move. Oswald Cobblepot always plays with black pieces. He wants his opponents to have the first-move advantage, so he can respond and retaliate.

The Penguin in Gotham Knights

In this particular match, Cobblepot has created his own advantage. Both of his bishops occupy white spaces. This is an impossible movie. Cobblepot is cheating.

The Trick Umbrella

Oswald’s compulsive need to carry an umbrella apparently traces back to his grandfather, who caught a fatal case of pneumonia in a rainstorm. Years later, The Penguin developed a fondness for weaponized umbrellas.

Inspired by KGB assassinations in the 1970s, some of his prized pieces feature poisoned tips, concealed blades, and firing pins for bullets and other deadly projectiles. Today Cobblepot keeps his collection mostly as mementos of his colorful past. Or so he says.

Academic Books

In addition to the atlases, encyclopedias, and other academic tomes, this collection contains an original printing of Ornithology of the Southern Hemisphere, by author Richard Grey Jr.

Antique Firearms

Generational heirlooms handed down by Colonel Nathan Cobblepot. These turn-of-the-century firearms were recovered from the Slaughter Swamp marshlands following a small but bloody skirmish in 1865.

Each weapon appears to be well-maintained. None of them are registered. They are, however, actually deactivated.

The next step in your progression would allow you to unlock Fast Travel in Gotham Knights and we have just the guide you need to explain to you how to do this and where are all Fast Travel Locations in Gotham!
