This guide explains how crafting works in Gotham Knights, what you can craft, where to get blueprints and materials and how to Transmog!
Crafting in Gotham Knights requires Salvage and Blueprints that you can get in several ways. Challenges, chests and just about any fight.
Crafting in Gotham Knights is one of the game’s fun and best parts. But what can you craft in Gotham Knights? What materials do you need for it? How do you acquire the materials? And what exactly is “Transmog”. Let’s get to all of these in order!
Where do you craft in Gotham Knights
Crafting can be done remotely, but you always have to visit the Belfry. You can get to the Batcomputer and open up the gear tab to find your stash of materials, blueprints for your suits, melee weapons, and ranged weapons.
Wherever you are, you can always access the Batcomputer. So when you are out on patrol, press your inventory button and you will gain access to the Batcomputer.
Open the Gear Tab and from there select the Crafting tab on the second row.
Keep in mind that even though you are able to craft while on the go, you will still need to head to the Belfry in order to equip the item that you have crafted.
You can craft directly at the Belfry. There is a workbench available that will allow you to enter the crafting menu instantly.
You can equip the item at the Belfry directly. There will be an option to click that as soon as you make the item.
Either way, the crafting is the same. It’s not like you get different items because you crafted them while on patrol and vice versa. It is consistently the same.
Where to find blueprints in Gotham Knights
Crafting in Gotham Knights is fairly easy. It requires materials, like Titanium Mesh or Polymer. But before you go on, you will need blueprints.
Having a bunch of crafting materials without having a blueprint to craft an item, is just garbage waiting for the weekly pickup.
How do you get blueprints? There are several ways to get blueprints. You can go out on patrol and do a brawl in an alley and one of the defeated mobs will drop a blueprint.
The best drop rates for good-quality blueprints stem from mini-bosses. Mini-bosses drop blueprints at a higher rate as well as a better quality rate than regular mobs.
You can also get blueprints through chests. When you are trying to complete a premeditated crime, for instance, scan the area with your AR Scanner. You should come across a chest. When you click it you will get blueprints and materials.
And the 3rd and last way is to get materials through challenges. Press on your map button and then find the Challenges tab and you should find some. Upon completion, you will get blueprints.
There are no designated areas where you can get blueprints. So you will have to rely on Random Number Generator (RNG) for the quality of the blueprints.
And another thing is that the moment you level up, a bunch of blueprints will disappear because they become obsolete. Or simply put: You have out-leveled the item you can craft using this blueprint and we have deleted it for you.
The blueprints are only useable for the character that you are playing with. So if Batgirl finds a blueprint, that blueprint is tied to her. Nobody else. The same goes for the other playable characters.
Where to find salvage in Gotham Knights
Salvage in Gotham Knights is quite common. Just like blueprints, you need crafting materials. Without crafting materials, your blueprints are just taking up space on the Batcomputer’s hard drive.
Here is the full list of crafting materials that you can find:
Icon | Item | Note |
---|---|---|
Polymer | Common; dropped by all factions | |
Titanium Mesh | Uncommon; dropped by the Mob | |
Graphene Fiber | Uncommon; dropped by the Regulators | |
Organic Composite | Uncommon; dropped by the Court of Owls | |
Industrial Solvent | Uncommon; dropped by the Freaks | |
Khadym Steel | Uncommon; dropped by the League of Shadows | |
Rare Earth Materials | Rare; dropped by the Mob | |
Colloidal Crystal | Rare; dropped by the Regulators | |
Electrum | Rare; dropped by the Court of Owls | |
Accelerant | Accelerant | |
Amalgam | Rare; dropped by the League of Shadows | |
Promethium | Epic; dropped by the Regulators | |
Programmable Nanocapsules | Epic; dropped by the Freaks | |
Pseudoderm | Epic; dropped by the Mob | |
Nth Metal | Legendary; dropped by all factions |
There are a few ways to obtain salvage that you can use for crafting materials.
You can salvage items from your opponents. Whether you are beating down a low-level mob or a high-level one, they will always drop some salvage.
There are gradations. The odds of getting high quality items from a mini-boss are higher than from a low-level mob.
The next way is to obtain salvage by opening chests. Chests you can find when you do premeditated crimes or Owl nests.
Owl nests are basically safehouses for members of the Court of Owls, who you will encounter in the main storyline. Scan for chests using your AR Scanner.
And the third and last way is to get salvage by doing quests and challenges.
There is a difference between getting crafting materials and blueprints. As I explained in the previous paragraph, for blueprints you are surrendered to the gods of RNG. You have no control over obtaining blueprints.
With crafting materials, it is different. When you go to your Gear tab and the inventory of crafting materials opens, you can mouse over the materials and see where the materials came from. So it is an indicator of where to get what crafting material.
What can you craft in Gotham Knights
Now that you have your crafting materials and blueprints at hand, it is time to head to either the workbench or open the Batcomputer. You will be able to craft three different items. There will be a submenu for each.
There is the submenu Suit, which is for new suits and for looks as well. Then there is the Melee submenu, which is for melee weapons and looks. And the third and last one is for ranged weapons.
How to craft in Gotham Knights
To craft an item, you simply go to the workbench or Batcomputer. Highlight the item you want to craft and hit “Craft”.
How to use outfits in Gotham Knights (Transmog)
Picture the following: You love your current outfit but are sad when you have to let go of it because of a better suit. The new suits have better stats or different elementals. It is time to retire the suit you wore when you did the Penguin mission earlier on.
There is a way for you to wear your upgraded suit and make it look like you are wearing the outfit that you have grown attached to. It’s called Transmog.
You craft your suit but simply apply the outfit that you want to look like. All you need to do is open the gear tab.
Go to Styles and then you can see your entire wardrobe. You can pick from a few costumes. You can customize the current one, but not the transmog ones.
Navigate to the left and right to find the Style you want and hit “Enter” to Transmog and you should look like the comic book hero you want to be.
