This guide will show you how to start the Quartz Labs to find info on Mr. Freeze as well as how to defeat Mr. Freeze on top of Elliot Center!
The heist at Starlabs was only just the beginning for Mr. Freeze. He’s back and committing more crimes. It’s up to the Gotham Knights to stop him and defeat him.
How to get to Quartz Labs to find Mr. Freeze
After the heist at STAR Labs, we learned that Mr. Freeze was looking to upgrade his suit. For that, he went to Quartz Labs in order to implement the first phase of that new suit.
You can get to Quartz Labs by heading over to the Batcomputer and hit “Cases” and then pick Mr. Freeze. The Quartz Labs mission can be found under the submenu. Hold the Enter button or R2 on a controller and you should be teleported instantly to the mission.
There are 8 Regulators guarding the entrance. Take down the snipers on top by performing a Silent Takedown and then take down the remaining 6. Don’t worry about any alarms, there aren’t any.
How to find the way into Quartz Labs
Move through the hallway and go through the vents and you will find 6 Regulators. There is a nice bonus attached with Perform Silent Takedowns. You will have to take down 3 silently. After that walk on and you are in Quartz Labs.
There are 6 more Regulators patrolling Quartz Labs and there is another nice bonus attached by taking them down silently. Once you are done with that, you will have to find a way into the vault.
How to get in the Vault in Quartz Lab
There is a door upstairs that is locked. You will have to find a way
Scan your environment and you will find a scannable object, a console. Interact with the console after you scan it.
A big door will open and two Shockers will come out. It’s a tough fight, especially at the intended level. But you don’t play Gotham Knights to sit around hoping for an easy time.
After you have taken them down, you can inspect the vault where the Shockers came from. It turns out that Mr. Freeze has been “working” alongside Dr. Theodore Upshot to upgrade his Freeze suit. But things went awry when the Doctor didn’t want to implement the changes Freeze wanted. It ultimately cost the doctor his life.
The Doctor’s ID is laying around and you will need to use your AR Scanner to scan the frozen scientist.
In order to access the laboratory you will have to scan 3 objects inside the vault in order to gain the access code.
The first object is a ripped-up schematic of the new Mr. Freeze suit.
The second object is the dictaphone of Dr. Upshot. The dictaphone of Dr. Upshot talks about Mr. Freeze being unethical with that new suit. But Upshot built in a failsafe without Mr. Freeze’s knowing. The failsafe is the disruptor in the suit. The information will come in handy later because it is a way on how to defeat Mr. Freeze.
The last object is the hardest one to find. Much like the Purloined letter, the answer is right in front of you: On the floor. Scan the notepad of Doctor Upshot and you will read that the good doctor installed the failsafe without the knowledge of Mr. Freeze.
Where to find the disruptor in Doctor Upshot’s office
Once you have cleared out the vault scanning all the objects that were required then you can move on to the next part of the Quartz Labs, which is Doctor Upshot’s office.
Head back up the stairs and the door that was locked previously should be unlocked. The good doctor has hidden the Disruptor in the office and you will have to find it. You will come across Doctor Upshot’s cell phone and messages from his parents who waited for him at a restaurant. I wonder who’s going to tell their parents the doctor has died. But also died a hero by building that Disruptor.
Keep using your AR Scanner until you find a hidden compartment in the floor. Open the box and you will find the disruptor. The disruptor will help on how to defeat Mr. Freeze.
How to start Gotham City on Ice
This isn’t like the Disney version. This is Mr. Freeze going all out by freezing the entire city of Gotham. The news hits and the Gotham Knights are gathered around the TV.
Mr. Freeze managed to create a giant ice storm covering and originating from Elliot Tower. The Gotham Knights must stop Mr. Freeze before the ice throws Gotham back to the ice age.
To start Gotham City on Ice, go to the Batcomputer, find Case Files and then find the mission under the Mr. Freeze file. Hit Enter to start the mission which will take you somewhere cold.
Upon arrival, you’ll see Regulators fighting off the Gotham City Police Department (GCPD) and you will need to help the GCPD.
There are 8 of them and a nice bonus if you Perform Ambush Takedowns on 5 of them. Once that’s done, it’s time to find a way up Elliot Tower. It’s time to defeat Mr. Freeze.
How to find a way up Elliot Tower to find Mr. Freeze
Follow the way up and take down the first bunch of Regulators. There is no bonus attached to them so take them down as fast as you can and move on.
In the next part of the hallway, you can grapple up but not move forward. Take a look around and up. You should see a ledge you can grapple to. Move up and find the 8 Regulators with a nice bonus which is to take 5 of them down with Heavy Melee Attacks.
After you are done with that, move up and reach the upper ice ridge after a big explosion allows you to grapple up. Keep going up until you can’t anymore and then look to the right and grapple to the next grappling point.
Move through the hallways until you can only go up again. Follow the way and when it is a dead end, look up and grapple again. There are a few Regulators that you can take down easily. Take them down and move up using your grapple. There are two more ledges and you will enter a room with Regulators.
Enter Elliot Center and there are 10 Regulators and if you take down 5 of them using Silent Takedowns, you will receive a nice bonus. After you have defeated the Regulators, exit Elliot Center.
How to defeat Mr. Freeze
You will now enter the arena where you will fight Mr. Freeze. The first thing you do is install the disruptor Doctor Upshot made. While the disruptor charges, Mr. Freeze will attack you. The fight has begun.
Mr. Freeze has several skills to try and stop your Gotham Knight. He can form a platform hive that does a knockback. Make sure you get out of it as fast you can. While he flies to the next area he will come down with a smash that forms ice spikes. He can also shoot ice rockets and if get hit, you will be frozen and can only get out by tapping the E button (PC Only) before you take a hit. The hit hits much harder while you are frozen. And let’s not forget to dodge the ice blast from his gun. It’s hard to defeat Mr. Freeze but not impossible.
The fight goes on like that, hit Perfect Evade and Perfect Timed Hit to get your hits in. Use your Momentum abilities as much as you can to get as many hits in as you can.
At some point, Mr. Freeze will go up a platform of his ice storm machine. The machine will have a telegraphed circle of beams and you can’t just jump over the beams.
You will need to run with the beams. If they hit you, it is severe damage. Get hit a second time and it is game over.
That’s about the only way to survive that phase. And be careful of the ice spikes while you run and the hive platform, be careful of those too.
After Mr. Freeze comes down, he will try and hit you as hard as he can with the same weapons as before. So be careful. If you have to dodge, then use your Ranged abilities as you can. Keep hitting him with whatever you have.
If possible, use incendiary ranged abilities and your melee as well. Mr. Freeze is sensitive to heat so use that to your advantage. Stunning him will barely work. But hitting him with fire will make taking him down go a bit faster.
The fight is really hard and saving your medpacs in previous phases before you enter the top of Elliot Center is not an unnecessary luxury. Especially the phases where you have to run between the beams to prevent you from hitting them while at the same time dodging the ice spikes and platforms on the floor. They hit hard and that beam hits even harder.
Next to incendiaries on your weapons, poison elementals would also work. Anything but ice and concussive. They aren’t very effective. Ice is self-explanatory.
Also, make sure that your gear is on par with the level you are. It’s worth using rare crafting materials for. The fight is incredibly tough and it was quite frustrating but that makes the heart grow fonder.
