This guide will show you how to start the Powers Club mission in Gotham Knights and the encounter with The Court of Owls and their devious plans!
The Powers Club is a pivotal moment in Gotham Knights. It’s the first time you will meet the Court of Owls after only hearing tales about them. Like Dick Grayson tells you that the Court of Owls was a story told to children that if you didn’t perform in the circus, the Court would take you away.
How to enter The Powers Club
Starting The Powers Club mission is a little different than the other Case Files mission. To enter The Powers Club you will have to get over there manually instead of pressing Enter like in the Harley Quinn or Mr. Freeze missions.
Once you are in, you will have to take down the security guide. There is no bonus attached to it so it’s up to you how you want to do this. By force or in stealth. I chose to stealth this mission for the most part, which is why I picked Robin as my Gotham Knight avatar for this mission. Robin’s special skill is Stealth and this mission revolves around a lot of Silent Takedowns.
Once the guards are unconscious, it’s time to AR scan the room. You will find a blood trail that goes cold in the middle of the room.
And you will find a lamp that is attached to two powerlines but both are dead. When you scan again, you will also find a hidden mechanism attached to the powerlines but it’s not working because the power is dead.
How to activate power to the hidden mechanism at The Powers Club
When you scan, you should see two white power cables leading upstairs. Follow the cables and find the door which will lead into the main room of The Powers Club. The mission is not as easy as you’d expect. There are guards and if you take them down using your “Perform Silent Takedown” skill then you will get a nice bonus.
In the first room, after you have cleared it, scan it and you should find a Buste. Scan the Bust and then it will open and give you the opportunity to activate the first powerline. Click it and the white powerline will now turn yellow.
In the second room, you will have to scan for the next powerline button. It is hidden in an old book. Scan the book and you will hear your character say something about a hollow book. Scan it and it will open and activate the second powerline by clicking the button.
Once you are done, head to the exit in the first room. When you open the door, you will go back to the first area where the lamp you scanned earlier is now active when you scan it. Head over and pull the lamp and a secret room will open. The stairs will lead you to an underground lair.
The stairway to the underground lair opens.
The underground lair is filled with secrets of The Court of Owls.
How to open the door at The Powers Club underground lair
You will have to keep following the blood trail all the way to the wall in the underground lair. The trail will hit a dead end and your Gotham Knight will find it very peculiar that the trail stops.
It’s time to take out your AR Scanner to look for clues in the room. You will find a spotlight and it is time to activate it. If you scanned correctly then you should see a beam of light under the floor and on top of the table there are little statues that you can move.
In order to open the door, you will have to switch the statue’s mechanisms until the light beam under the table, which is only visible on your AR Scanner so keep your scanner active so you can see the light beams, are all connected.
All you have to do is keep clicking the mechanism until everything is connected. The wall should open up once everything is in place. It can be quite a frustrating puzzle at first if you don’t know how to do it. But that’s what this guide is for.
Keep moving the movable platform until you see a line.
The yellow line should be visible and in order to open the door you will need to connect all 4 of them.
The door will open as soon as you connect the lines.
The Court of Owls in the Underground Lair
Once through the door, keep following the blood trail. Take down the Court of Owls’ bodyguards in the first hallway and the second hallway. There is a nice bonus attached if you use your “Perform Silent Takedown” skills or you can batter your way through.
The last door will start a cutscene with members of The Court of Owls talking about how happy they are now that Bruce Wayne has passed away because he kept getting in the way of their evil plans. As well as talks about bills and a bribed senator but nobody mentions the name of the senator. And they talk about misdirecting everyone who’s trying to investigate them.
Once the cutscene ends, you will find the member of the Court of Owls who is hung for torture. Free the member and a trap will spring closing you in and another cutscene starts.
This time it is about their hatred for vigilantes like the Gotham Knights and Batman. They should all die is the opinion of all the attendees.
How to escape The Powers Club in Gotham Knights
The trap will spring and you will be falling down for quite a while and end up in the danger room. It is basically a big hallway with all kinds of traps. Flamethrowers, spinning blades, hacksaws. The walls aren’t safe either with spikes coming out on the left and fire on the right. You will have to navigate your way through.
In order to get through that nasty part of the level, you will have to learn the patterns of the movement of the traps. The speed changes midway for the fire throwers. They start off slow but will go faster once they hit the middle of the hallway for example. Keep that in mind once u get past them.
The beams with rotating knives will instantly kill you if you get hit.
The fire is also very deadly and if you get hit once, you will die instantly.
The cutscene that follows at the end of this dangerous room is a scary one. The cutscene has your character fall on an entire museum of skulls and bones. It’s like a 20-meter-high slide down.
At the end of it, you will find old swords that appear to date all the way back to the middle ages. That death trap you just escaped has been there for a really long time.
But you will also find a key that looks like an owl at the grip. The mysterious key is one of the most important keys that you will find for the progression of the main story.
The exit is through the sewage pipe and vents but not before you enter a room of Regulators who apparently found a room in The Power Club’s AirBnB. The mission objectives are to free the hostage, take down the entire group and disrupt all of their criminal plans. The bonus is to Defeat Enemies with Perfect Attacks 2 times. Just head for the exit once you are done with them.
At the Belfry, the Gotham Knights are wondering what the key is for and if Batman knew anything more about The Court of Owls. Barbara will use the voices you recorded of the masked Court of Owls members to find matches and see if they can find any leads using their voices.
The Court of Owls in the comics
The Court of Owls is one of the more recent additions to Batman’s already impressive Rogue Gallery. They were created by Greg Capullo, Scott Snyder and Jonathan Glapion as part of the DC Comicverse relaunch “The New 52”. They have been part of Gotham for centuries and use the Talons as their assassins.
The Court of Owls are responsible for a lot of infrastructure in Gotham City and won’t hesitate to take people down who don’t see it their way. They have people from the lowest ranks to the highest ranks in all facets of the Gotham economy. On top of that they have access to technology from centuries ago up until now. Just like in the game Gotham Knights, they are obsessed with immortality.
There are a few comics that I would recommend if you want to know more about The Court of Owls and enjoy reading DC Comics / Batman.
I would heartily recommend Batman: The Court of Owls. A comic book where billionaire philanthropist announces his plans for Gotham of the future. The Court of Owls takes notice and use their influence to try and stop him. When they fail they abduct Batman and put them in the maze where they put all their enemies. Kind of like the maze from the guide.
Using the maze, The Court of Owls try to break Batman’s spirit by starving him. That plan didn’t work. On the brink of death, Alan Wayne, Bruce’s great-grandfather, appears as a hallucination and spurs on Batman/Bruce Wayne. Batman breaks from the hold of the Court of Owls. He later blows up the cave they are in while bringing home the body of one of the Talons for autopsy while Nightwing enters to talk about the folklore tale of the circus he was once a part of.
