Brazil CCXP revealed the release date for Season 3 of The Mandalorian. We also got an announcement of the brand-new Star Wars Jedi book series expanding the horizons before Cal Kestis and the Stinger crew!
The Mandalorian S3 release date and hints
CCXP or Comic Con Experience is a massive event in Brazil that gathers thousands of fans. While it’s not as big as San Diego Comic-Con it is undoubtedly an important event. Disney had reserved a couple of announcements for this event. The biggest one is that Season 3 of The Mandalorian is coming to DisneyPlus on March 1, 2023.
With an official date revealed only more questions pop up in everyone’s minds. Where’s the story heading? Which characters are we going to see? Are there going to be any shocking moments that surpass previous ones?
Many interviews have been made in the last few months, and none of them have information that is too revealing but if you start gathering the details from every brief comment that was made, you can get a small idea of what is going to happen.
In an interview released by Entertainment Weekly Rick Famuyiwa, writer and director of the series, talked about how this series is going to be the culmination of what started in the first episode of the series. Din Djarin’s relationship with Grogu, his path as a Mandalorian, and the people they’ve met along, everything’s coming together.
I’m super excited about watching many Mandalorians in action, maybe we even get to see different clans fight side by side. I’d love to hear names like Clan Wren, Cadera, or Varad.
Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni were present (kind of) at Brazil’s CCXP. Through a video message, the duo talked a little bit about what we can expect to see; bigger-scale battles, more Mandalorians, returning actors, and new faces that include Cristopher Lloyd who you know as “Doc” in Back to the Future.
Disney actually showed a trailer that is currently unavailable for the rest of us, but what some attendants have reported is that Boba Fett is returning for the next season, and (IMO) the most interesting thing is that Din Djarin is heading to Coruscant at some point in the series. This would be the first time ever to see the former capital of the Galactic Republic in the post-Empire era.
The stakes are bigger than ever, and the number of enemies is increasing so which means that Din Djarin is going to need every help that he can get. I’m curious who else is returning, Fennec, Ahsoka, or maybe Luke himself?
Every season of the Mandalorian has been full of surprises, especially the second one. I can’t wait to see what Favreau and Filoni have prepared for us!
Star Wars Jedi: Battle Scars
Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is the next game that continues the story of Cal Kestis and the Stinger crew. As it’s usual with Star Wars media, there’s going to be a considering time skip between Survivor and its predecessor Fallen Order.
Star Wars Jedi: Battle Scars is a tie-in novel; Cal, Cere, Merrin, Greez, and BD-1 continue their fight against the mighty Galactic Empire. It is getting released on March 7, 2023.
I’m sure Cal has increased his abilities but he’s far from being able to face someone like Vader. This is why I think that they’ll act very similarly to what rebel cells do, small missions that can inflict great damage on the enemy.
Because Cal Kestis is a Jedi they can’t afford to drive too much attention but with the Inquisitors deployed it was only a matter of time until they faced again.
Here’s the book’s excerpt:
“Cal Kestis has built a new life for himself with the crew of the Stinger Mantis. Together, Cal’s crew has brought down bounty hunters, defeated Inquisitors, and even evaded Darth Vader himself. More important, Merrin, Cere, Greez, and faithful droid BD-1 are the closest thing Cal has had to a family since the fall of the Jedi Order. Even as the galaxy’s future grows more uncertain by the day, with each blow struck against the Empire the Mantis crew grows more daring.
On what should be a routine mission, they meet a stormtrooper determined to chart her own course with the help of Cal and the crew. In exchange for help starting a new life, the Imperial deserter brings word of a powerful, potentially invaluable tool for their fight against the Empire. And even better, she can help them get to it. The only catch—pursuing it will bring them into the path of one of the Empire’s most dangerous servants, the Inquisitor known as the Fifth Brother.
Can the Imperial deserter truly be trusted? And while Cal and his friends have survived run-ins with the Inquisitors before, how many times can they evade the Empire before their luck runs out?”
This sounds like an interesting story to read while we wait for the Jedi: Survivor’s release. Which, by the way, is getting another trailer released on December 8th at The Game Awards.
