For the duration of Chapter 6, Isaac has been working with Dr. Elizabeth Cross to stop the toxic air from spreading around the USG Ishimura. Using a special enzyme, Isaac would inject Wheezer necromorphs so that it would also affect the source. This failed so Isaac must go one on one with the giant mound of flesh dubbed “The Leviathan”.
Prepare for the Fight
The Leviathan will be in Food Storage which isn’t far off from the beginning of the map in Hydroponics. Here you’ll have a Save Station and a Store Kiosk. Be sure to stock up on any ammo and med packs you’ll need for the fight.
You’ll then want to head into Food Storage and activate the airlock in an attempt to jettison the Leviathan into space. Isaac and Elizabeth will talk for a bit with Isaac going with the crazy idea to fight the beast himself.
How to fight the Leviathan
When the lights turn on in Food Storage, you’ll be greeted by this horrible fleshy beast we call The Leviathan. Don’t let his appearance fool you, its bark is worse than its bite. There will be a lot of ammo, med packs, and explosive canisters floating around in this room you can use during the fight.
For the first portion of the battle, the Leviathan will launch one of its three tentacles toward you. These are easy to avoid as all you need to do is strafe left or right when they come your way.
They’ll get stuck on the opposite wall for a little bit exposing a yellow cluster. Shoot this cluster enough times to destroy a tentacle. Do this for each tentacle to start the next phase.
The Leviathan is going to roar and expose your new primary target hidden within its maw. Every so often it’s going to roar, take that opportunity to fire at the cluster within. You can also throw explosive canisters at this spot if you want to save ammo or run out of ammo.
Though do be cautious as now it will begin shooting explosive clusters at you. You can dodge these, shoot these, or pick them up with Kinesis to throw at the Leviathan’s weak points.
After you damaged it enough, the Leviathan will regrow its three tentacles and fill the room with toxic gas. It’s now a race to defeat the beast before you run out of oxygen.
Maintain constant movement by strafing left and right to avoid both tentacles and clusters. Don’t bother shooting the tentacles and focus on the cluster inside the Leviathan.
When defeated the Leviathan will go limp and be launched into space. The airlock will close allowing you to take a breather and pick up any loot around you might have missed. This is a good place to get a lot of ammo and med packs so be sure to check every corner!
