This guide will explain the boss fight mechanics and tell you how to defeat the Leviathan Remnant in Chapter 8 of the Dead Space Remake!

Chapter 8 takes place in the Bridge and Communication Hub of the USG Ishimura. After sending out the Distress Beacon in Chapter 7, the survivors of the USG Kellion realize that the Communication Array is still down.
Despite repairing the Communication Array, something is blocking communications. The Leviathan from Chapter 6 is back and ready for Round 2!
Preparing for the Fight
If you feel like you need to, return to the Store Kiosk near the Main Atrium of the Bridge. There is also a Bench nearby that you can use to perform any last minute upgrades. Stock up on ammo, med packs, and maybe an air tank or two. The fight ahead will take place in a Zero-G environment without any oxygen.
Once you are prepared, pick up any ammo in the hallway that leads to the ADS Cannons and make your way outside to fight the Leviathan Remnant.
How to fight the Leviathan Remnant
The fight here will be a lot different than it was last time as the Leviathan Remnant has some new tricks up its fleshy sleeves. Like before it has tentacles that will launch towards you, so you’ll just need to strafe sideways to dodge them. You are unable to destroy them this time as they lack a cluster on them.
On the far left and right sides of this area you’ll find a flesh tendril with a cluster. Shoot these to expose oxygen refill tanks you can use throughout the battle.
You’ll need to interact with an ADS Cannon and activate it. This is no different than how you did it when you programmed the ADS Cannons to shoot the asteroids in Chapter 4. There are 3 ADS cannons in total, one to the left, one in the center and one to the right.
After activating the ADS Cannon, use Aim Mode. While in Aim Mode, focus on the glowing, rocky structure on the Leviathan Remnant and have the ADS cannon fire at it with your Activate button.
When you fired on this barrier enough times, the clusters inside will be exposed. You can either use your handheld weapon or the ADS Cannons to fire at the clusters. Once its destroyed, the second phase of the fight will begin.
When you fight in this phase, the Leviathan Remnant will start shooting clusters at you. Shoot these, dodge these, or throw them back. Activate another ADS Cannon and break the barrier like before. Be sure to dodge any launched clusters or tentacles coming your way. After you destroy this cluster, the third phase will begin.
When the third phase begins, the Leviathan Remnant will shoot out clusters with tendrils over the entire area. DO NOT get near these clusters, they act like mines and will explode if you get to close.
As you make your way to the last ADS Cannon, it’ll swipe its tentacle through the area. Fly over it so you don’t get hit and avoid any clusters it detonates this way.
Fire the last ADS Cannon at it until it is defeated. You’ll have to avoid cluster mines, launched clusters, and tentacles during this phase. This will be tricky especially at higher difficulties where one wrong move means you’ll have to restart.
Once defeated, there will be a large explosion and the Leviathan Remnant gently float off into space. Now you can proceed with the remainder of your mission to extend the Long Range Communication Antenna.
