This guide covers Octopath Traveler 2’s Editions and pre-order bonuses as well as when you can play the game and how to access the demo if you want to try it first!
Standard Edition Contents
The Standard Edition for Octopath Traveler 2 contains just the game and pre-order bonuses, if applicable. It is available for Playstation 4, Playstation 5, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam.
For Nintendo Switch , PlayStation 4, and Playstation 5, the game is available in both Physical and Digital Formats. For PC, the game is only available as a Digital copy, via Steam.
If you enjoy collecting box art or just having physical copies of games, this means you will need to buy the game for another platform in addition to PC if you planned to purchase and play the game on PC.
The retail price of the Standard Edition is $59.99 for all supported platforms.
Collector’s Edition Contents
In addition to a physical copy of the game, the Collector’s Edition of Octopath Traveler 2 comes with Collector’s Edition Goods Box, which includes the following items:
- Octopath Traveler 2 Extended Battle Tracks
- Octopath Traveler 2 Art Album
- Octopath Traveler 2 Travelers Bust Set
Due to the PC version not having a physical release, the Collector’s Edition is unavailable for PC. So much like the Standard Edition, you’ll need to purchase a Playstation 5 or Nintendo Switch copy to get the Collector’s Edition Goods Box.
The Collector’s Edition also comes with the same Pre-order bonuses as the Standard Edition, where applicable.
Octopath Traveler 2 Art Album
The Octopath Traveler 2 Art Album is a hard-cover book, filled with 44 pages or art that depicts the game world, game art, and illustrations of the eight travelers.
It comes bound so the book can open to a flat 180-degree spread, allowing for large images to be viewed easily.
Octopath Traveler 2 Extended Battle Tracks
The Octopath Traveler 2 Extended Battle Tracks is a CD containing 24 extended version variations of the in-game battle tracks. These cover all the battle track variations of each of the eight travelers.
These variations will not appear on the complete soundtrack, which is entirely separate.
Octopath Traveler 2 Travelers Bust Set
The Octopath Traveler 2 Travelers Bust Set includes 8 miniature busts, one of each of the travelers. The background of the package features the full map of the Solstia content which can be used as a backdrop for the figures.
Each of these mini-busts is 76mm, or roughly 3 inches in height. This puts them on a the smaller side, but still large enough to have plenty of detail.
The retail price of the Collector’s Edition is $179.99 for all supported platforms.
Pre-Order Bonuses
Pre-orders of any version or edition of Octopath Traveler 2 comes with the Traveler’s Provisions bonus. The Traveler’s Provisions are a set of in-game items that give you a bit of a headstart.
The Traveler’s Provisions Pre0order bonus consists of the following Items:
- 5x Healing Grape (M)
- 5x Inspiriting Plum (M)
- 2x Revitalizing Jam
- 1x Gold Dust
The Healing Grapes and Inspiriting Plums are fairly common healing items, which restore flat amounts of HP and SP respectively. Revitalizing Jam, however, is a rarer consumable that fully restores HP, SP, and BP when used. Gold Dust is an item that can be sold for 5,000 leaves, or the game’s currency.
Ultimately, these are nothing to worry about and do not heavily affect gameplay, should you miss out on them.
Which Edition Should You Choose
As a fan of the first Octopath Traveler game, I’m without a doubt getting the Collector’s Edition. The Artbook and Bust set are what really sell it for me, as I absolutely love the art style of the game and the character designs.
Don’t get me wrong, the music is amazing as well. Based on the details given on what the Extended Battle Tracks are, it doesn’t sound as appealing as say the Full OST would be. But it seems that want to market that separately, which is a shame.
It’s also fairly strange to have it as a physical disc in my opinion, since I’d much rather listen to music on my PC or something more portable. Yes, there are ways to do this; but this would make a Digital version of this a much better option in my opinion.
Thoughts aside, I do think the Collector’s Edition is worth it if you’re a fan of the Octopath Traveler series.
I will say that the Art Book and Busts make up all of the value of the Collector’s Edition, excluding the price of the game. If you’re not interested in both of those, you may want to consider just getting the Standard Edition.
