This character guide for Castti serves to highlight her story and unique functions. It explains the actions unique to Castti, including Path Actions and Abilities.
Castti’s Unique Actions Explained
Each Traveler has unique abilities specific to them, referred to as Path Actions, which they get two, one for each time of day. These can accomplish a variety of goals from accessing new areas, and information on the world, or providing additional information.
The Path Actions listed below are only available to the character that starts with this job, in this case, Castti. They must be in your party to perform the Path Actions below.
Day Path Action: Inquire
Inquire allows Castti to obtain information from some NPCs.
Inquire is a level-based option, thus can only be done if you meet the level requirements. You
Inquire is the alternative daytime Path Action to the Scholar’s Scrutinize. Which you use is determined by whether Castti meets the level required to succeed with Inquire. Some NPC will favor one action over the other, making both viable
Night Path Action: Soothe
Soothe allows Castti to use medicinal items to Soothe NPCs, putting them to sleep. Despite them being asleep, they are still considered unconscious and thus moved out of the way of blocked paths.
Soothe is an item-based Path Action. It can only be performed if you have the required items, and thus can never fail or harm your reputation.
Being an item-based Path Action also means there are no NPCs to increase the effectiveness of this Path Action.
Soothe is the nighttime alternative Path Action for rending NPCs unconscious. With Soothe being item-based and Ambush being level-based, it makes both situationally useful depending on your needs.
Soothe is best used in situations where you don’t meet the level requirement to use the Thief’s Ambush Path Action. If Ambush works, it should always be the first choice, to conserve the items that Castti uses to Soothe.
Talent: Concoct
Each character also possesses a Talent, which are passive effects that have a variety of effects. These can range from enhancing their Path Actions to providing buffs in battle.
During combat, Castti has access to her Concoct talent. This allows Castti to use special apothecary ingredients to create all sorts of helpful effects for your team or harmful effects for enemies.
While Concoct is great for checking elemental weaknesses, should you have the items, it’s best used as a means of buffing allies or debuffing foes. These effects typically are more impactful, as Concoct usually deals fairly low damage.
The Ingredients for Concoct are completely separate from your standard items. However, unlike in Octopath Traveler 1, these are no longer dual-purpose as most will only provide a helpful or harmful effect. Additionally, the effects of each ingredient are no longer hidden when concocting, as you can now boost it and apply up to 5 different effects.
Latent Power: Every Drop Counts
Latent Powers are a new feature to Octopath Traveler 2, which gives each traveler an ability that’s completely unique to them. These skills are earned by building the Latent Power Gauge by receiving damage and breaking foes. Using a Latent Power expends the gauge to provide its effects and does not require SP.
Castti’s Latent Power is called Every Drop Counts. Every Drop Counts allows a single use of Castti’s Concoct to be used without consuming any ingredients.
This effect is best used when you have at least 3 BP to use a full 5-item Concoct. While it can be used with less BP, this ensures you get the maximum value out of it. The next best use of it is to conserve any ingredients you struggle to find regularly, like Diffusing Serums which are hard to find early on.
You’re still limited to using either a harmful or helpful Concoct, but great use of Concoct alongside Every Drop Counts can make Castti a reliable and potent support character.
Castti’s Apothecary Skills
Castti’s starting job is Apothecary. With that comes a set of active and passive skills that complete the character. Apothecaries are typically support focused but are still very capable fighters.

Castti’s EX Skills
EX Skills are a new feature of Octopath Traveler 2. Each Traveler has two skills unique to them that the other Travelers cannot get. These are often powerful attacks or skills with powerful utility.
Drastic Measures
- Skill Type:
Axe
- SP Cost: 18
- Effect: Unleash a powerful axe attack on a single foe and nullify their afflictions and enfeebling effects. The more effects nullified, the more potent the attack.
This Skill takes a fair bit of setup but is one of the very few skills that Castti can easily hit the damage cap with. It takes a lot of setup to be strong but can be worth setting up a team around.
Where to Unlock Drastic Measures
Drastic Measures can only be obtained by taking Castti to the Altar of the Charitable. She is required to be in the active party to receive the skill.
This Altar can be found in North Conning Creek Coast, by following a path that extends past a chest in the very southern section of the map. Continue heading East here until you reach the stairs that lead you to the altar room.
Remedy
- Skill Type: Buff
- SP Cost: 22
- Effect: Grant a random ally 3 positive status effects.
- Boost Effect: Increases the number of effects applied by 2 per BP spent.
Remedy is similar to the Scholar’s Stroke of Genius but instead applies random status effects to the whole party. This provides a wide variety of useful effects, including those typically provided by other jobs. This includes effects like making attacks affect all foes, increased BP regeneration, HP Regeneration, SP regeneration among others.
Where to Unlock Remedy
Being the second of Castti’s EX Skills, Remedy is unlocked upon completion of Castti’s story. She will have access to it immediately following the boss of her Chapter 4 Story in Timberain.
Castti’s Story
The sections below are details on Castti’s Story in Octopath Traveler 2. As such, there are many spoilers below.
Overview
Castti is unconscious and set adrift from somewhere on the eastern continent, by an unknown figure. This figure claims she is the only one who can make a necessary cure. Castti awakes to find herself on a ship but struggles to remember anything. She has amnesia, yet still is capable of performing her duties as an Apothecary.
After helping the town of Canalbrine with a mysterious illness that begins to spread, Castti sets off on her journey. Guided only by a notebook of places she may have previously been, she seeks answers to who she is and where she came from.
Chapter 1
Castti awakes on a ship that happens to pass by her while she was adrift. The sailors quickly bring the unconscious Castti aboard and help relieve her dehydration. They attempt to ask questions as to who she is and where she came from, but is unable to answer due to amnesia.
The kind captain of the ship does help her remember her name, as it’s stitched into the uniform she wears. After Inquiring some of the sailors for additional information, Castti is able to deduce how long she was adrift and where from. This surprises her, as she remembers nothing, but is able to make such an approximation.
Castti later learns from inspecting her belongings that she was an Apothecary, though doesn’t seem sure if she’ll still be able to carry out such tasks in he current state. After the ship docks in the port of Canalbrine, she’s met with glares, fear, and accusations. They keep asking her if she’s an Eir’s Apothecary, who has a poor reputation in the town due to rumors.
Despite the apparent hostility towards her, Castti managed to help a person that falls ill, proving to herself that even without her memories she’s still a capable apothecary. Soon after more people fall ill with similar symptoms, and she does what she can to help the town.
After helping some townsfolk, they cease their hostility and apologize to Castti. Castti is still determined to find the source of the illness. The townsfolk mention some of those that fell ill drink unboiled water, which tells Castti that the water is the source.
She heads off to their wellspring, where all of their water comes from. She then encounters some infected beasts deep within the cavern housing the wellspring. After dispatching them and spreading a medicinal herb to help clear the toxins she returns to town.
She inform them that the cause of their issue is gone, but the water won’t clear up for quite a while yet and need to take precautions. Once again the previously skeptical and fearful townsfolk thank her.
After Castti prepares to leave town, she finds a journal hidden in her bag. This journal gives her the direction she needs to set off. She journeys onward, hoping to find more information about herself and these mysterious Eir’s Apothecaries she learned of.
