This Side Story can be started by any character in the town of Canalbrine. Canalbrine sits on the coast of the western continent of Solistia, in the Northern section of the Harborlands.

We can reach the location by boat from the New Delsta Anchorage or Toto’haha Anchorage. Additionally, we can reach the location on foot by heading South from Oresrush then East, or North from Ryu, then East.

Near the bridges that allow you to cross the water in town, there’s a Young Traveler here. Approaching him and speaking with him will reveal he lost an important item.

The only thing he tells us initially is that he last saw in the Brightlands, before taking a boat that stopped in Toto’haha. So we set off to find it.

You can use any information-gathering Path Action on the Traveler. Since this NPC is always present, you can use your choice of Inquire or Scrutinize during the day and Bribe or Coerce at night. This reveals the missing item is a bottle of White Ash.

The only other hint comes from the Ferry Staff at Toto’haha Anchorage. Using an information-gathering Path Action on them will reveal she feels a sense of duty to carry lost and found items with her.

Once again this NPC is present at both times of day, so all of the information-gathering Path actions are available to get this information.

How to complete the Side Story

To Complete this Side Story, we’ll need to head over to the Toto’haha Beasting Bay Anchorage. We’ll need to talk to that Ferry Staff NPC that likes to carry lost and found items on her.

We can use Steal or Purchase during the day time or Entreat or Mug at night time and we’ll see she has an item called Bottle of White Powder. Obtain the item and head back to the traveler in Canalbrine.

Upon your return, we’ll be able to speak to the Young Traveler again and have the option to hand the collected Bottle of White Powder to him. He’ll be shocked you find it and returned it to him.

He explains why it was so important to him, it’s the cremated body of a close friend who fell ill and passed while they were traveling together. He’s journeying to Hinoeuma to fulfill his friend’s dying wish to have his ashes spread across the sands of Hinoeuma.

He apologizes to his friend, swearing to himself to keep better track of it and never lose it again. He thanks us and gives us our reward.

Our reward for completing this Side Story is 4,000 in money and a Critical Nut (M).

Critical Nut (M) is an item that will permanently raise the base Critical Stat of any character. This Medium variety provides slightly more of the stat than the standard one.
