The Ahsoka panel and a few interviews happened today at Star Wars Celebration and they revealed very interesting details! Here’s everything you need to know about the upcoming series!
This article is being updated live as we learn and see the new announcements, interviews and news about the Ahsoka Series!
Ahsoka Tano’s journey began when The Clone Wars, released fifteen years ago. Many had doubts about the idea of Anakin Skywalker having a Padawan, but with every season that passed people got more emotionally invested in her story.
Since her introduction, we have seen Ahsoka evolve through seven seasons of The Clone Wars, then return as a much more mature warrior in Star Wars Rebels, learned her origins on Tales of the Jedi and finally make her live-action debut during Season 2 of The Mandalorian.
I love Ahsoka as much as I love Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker. I still remember having so many questions and being extremely reserved. In retrospect, it was a very bold move of George Lucas to make this brand new character but the risk has paid off.
She has become one of the most beloved characters of the franchise. People buy her merch, cosplay as her, and even want to look like Ahsoka on games like The Old Republic.
To think that she was introduced in an animated show makes it even crazier. After Ahsoka appeared on The Mandalorian it was just a matter of time before she would get her own series.
The Ahsoka series is just four months away and here’s what you need to know about the series!
Ahsoka will take place after the events of Star Wars Rebels. Ezra Bridger is still out there, after the battle of Lothal he and Thrawn were taken into unknown space by the Purrgils. For years, their fate has remained a mystery but that is about to change.
With rumors of Grand Admiral Thrawn returning as the new face of the Empire, it’s imperative that someone prevents him from turning the galaxy upside down. Also, if Thrawn is back, then there’s a good chance that Ezra is alive.
Sabine Wren, Hera Syndulla, and Chopper will do their official debuts on a live-action series! There is no confirmation (yet) that the Ghost Crew will get back together to go search for their old friend but I think everything is pointing in that direction.
Here’s the list of all currently known cast members: Rosario Dawson (Ahsoka Tano), Natasha Liu Bordizzo (Sabine Wren), Mary Elizabeth Winstead (Hera Syndulla), Eman Esfandi (Ezra Bridger), Genevieve O’Reilly (Mon Mothma), and Diana Lee Inosanto (Morgan Elsbeth).
Additionally, Ray Stevenson (Baylan) and Ivanna Sakhno (Shin) will play two antagonists in the series. Ivanna has confirmed that Shin will be Baylan’s apprentice. It’s still unclear if they are Dark Jedi or Sith but learning that they are Master and Apprentice is still meaningful.
The highlight of the Ahsoka Panel is the fact that Lars Mikkelsen will be playing Grand Admiral Thrawn who he voiced on Star Wars Rebels. Grand Admiral Thrawn is incredibly smart and cautious, I consider him to be the best strategist in the entire Galactic Empire.
In an interview that happened after the panel, Rosario Dawson said that she really wants Ahsoka to have a second season. If I remember correctly, this was initially announced as a stand-alone series but months later rumors about it becoming a multi-season series spread around the internet.
The first season of Ahsoka will have 8 episodes.
One of the 3 new Star Wars movies announced yesterday will be the culminating point of stories that happen in Ahsoka and The Mandalorian. With one remaining Season of The Mandalorian and the possibility of Ahsoka having more, it looks like it will take a while before we see the movie.
Ahsoka is coming out August 2023. In case you missed it, here is my breakdown of Ahsoka’s Teaser Trailer, released on Day 1 of Star Wars Celebratin 2023!
