New Assassin’s Creed Mirage Trailer reveals more about Baghdad

A brand new Assassin’s Creed Mirage trailer reveals more about the iconic city of Baghdad. We can see how well-detailed it is, the way it is organized, and the type of people that live on it. This is just a small hint of what we’ll be able to experience when the game launches on October 5th.

Getting to know more about Baghdad

Unlike the last trailer, this one didn’t show any new features or gameplay mechanics. Instead, it focused on showing how incredibly immersive this game is going to be.

The first thing that instantly caught my attention is the fact that the trailer is dubbed in Arabic. Having characters from Europe or Asia always talking in English doesn’t bother me but can break the game’s immersion. And considering that Assassin’s Creed (AC) heavily relies on immersion it’s great to see that they cared so much about it.

While I don’t understand a single word of the language, it’s undeniable that it sounds beautiful. I will certainly play AC Mirage in Arabic if that option is available!

The sound element is vital to make a great game, and while language is certainly important, there are other aspects that can be just as necessary. From what the trailer shows, the experience of walking on the streets of Baghdad is going to be as close as it can be to the real thing.

The sounds of merchants dealing with customers, kids playing, the regular gossip that happens in every market, and the spot-on music are just some of the things that I was able to pick up during this short trailer. This isn’t something that’s going to define whether someone should play it or not but these details talk very well about the game.

One of the first things that come to my mind when I hear “Middle East” is the incredible architecture of its buildings and palaces. The amount of beautiful and complicated details carefully placed might go overlooked by those who only want to do the main quest but if you love and appreciate the details this will make your experience a lot better.

Obviously, we’re not here just to admire the city. As a member of the Assassin Brotherhood, Basim is on a mission and he will not stop until it is done. With a return to its roots, the game will let us rely heavily on stealth to accomplish our mission if that’s the approach we want. With how the city is distributed and close proximity of buildings of all sizes and shapes it’s going to be incredibly fun.

Just like with every other AC game, there are different types of enemies with all kinds of weapons, armor, and combat styles that require the player to adapt and think of clever ways to defeat them when brute force is not enough.

While this trailer doesn’t show a lot regarding this topic, we still got a small teaser about what kind of opposition can be expected. At least when it comes to the “standard” enemies. Regular patrols armed with blades or bows, armored guards that watch over the prisoners, a foe wielding a heavy maze, and someone that uses fire and explosives.

Having to face multiple enemies armed with melee and ranged weapons in the small streets of Baghdad will make it very interesting. The odds might not be in your favor but with the Assassin Brotherhood on your side, a good instinct and the proper use of the city to your advantage taking down enemies will be one of the most fun things about AC Mirage.
