We are getting close to the end of the series. Hunter, Wrecker, and Crosshair venture into an Imperial-controlled system to rescue the only man who can lead them to Tantiss, former Admiral Rampart.
Recap of the story so far
Right before Omega and her brothers were able to leave Pabu, the Imperial Operative found them and destroyed the Havoc Marauder, almost killing Wrecker in the process. Within minutes, the Empire raided the village and eliminated every vehicle, preventing anyone from escaping.
To save the villagers and her brothers, Omega surrendered. She’s now on her way to Mount Tantiss.

Resignation
When Emerie learned about what was going on at the Vault, she got visibly conflicted about keeping those kids as prisoners. The cold approach of Dr. Hemlock didn’t help reduce Emerie’s internal conflict. Actually, I only think it made things worse.
Despite following orders and experimenting on other clones, something inside her broke when Cad Bane delivered the baby. She came to the realization that Hemlock has no respect for any living being, the only thing that matters to him is the success of Project Necromancer.
As conflicted as she is, Dr. Karr doesn’t believe she can do anything about it. Right after Omega is delivered to her, the kid says that she doesn’t have to do this. With a voice full of resignation, Emerie answers that she has no other option.
From the outside perspective, it’s easy to think that she’s just scared but it goes deeper than that. Unlike Omega, Emerie Karr has always served one single purpose. She has no friends, no motivations, and no dreams. Only an imposed purpose that so far, has guided her actions but I’m sure that this will change in the upcoming episodes.
As we’ve seen before, Omega is great when it comes to dealing with people. Her innocence and genuine intentions allow Omega to have a positive impact on almost everyone. Since Omega and Emerie are sisters, both can empathize very well with each other.
I firmly believe that Emerie Karr will have a very important role in the last episodes of the series. Excluding Dr. Hemlock and Scorch, there’s no one else with as much access to Mount Tantiss and its installations. The entire mission will succeed or fail depending on what side Dr. Karr takes.
Another Instance of Imperial Incompetence
It was very surprising to hear about Admiral Rampart again. He’s despicable but in the end, he is just another replaceable pawn in Palpatine’s game. I don’t think that Crosshair, Hunter, or Wrecker are very happy about having to depend on the man who ordered the destruction of Tipoca City.
I find it incredible that Rampart is being held in a regular labor camp. He had a very high-security clearance, which means a lot of knowledge of the Empire and some of its operations. He’s the perfect target for anyone who tries to hurt the Galactic Empire.
It makes no sense. Someone with such a high profile should be in a cell block 24/7 with very strict security. I am sure that the ISB must have a place to hold traitors, spies, and “liabilities”. Probably nothing like the Fortress Inquisitorious but at least something that guarantees that no one could get in or out without authorization.
Watching all the security in Mount Tantiss for so many episodes made me forget that it’s not a standard practice among all Imperial installations. I’ve lost count of how many times people have easily infiltrated them to sabotage the place, rescue someone, or cause some destruction.
Saw Gerrera, the Spectres, Clone Force 99, Luke Skywalker, Din Djarin, Cassian Andor, Obi-Wan, and the list could go on but you get my point. It doesn’t matter that Palpatine, Hemlock, Vader, Thrawn, Tarkin, or anyone at the top is very cautious; as long as the lower-ranking officers and common soldiers remain incompetent, Imperial enemies will continue to succeed.
Not that it’s a bad thing! Omega, Hunter, Wrecker, Crosshair, and Rex need everything that could increase their chance to triumph. Resources, some Imperial negligence, and as many allies as possible.
An unusual ally
Speaking of allies, the possibility of Rampart aiding them in their mission is something that I never even considered. He might have been a loyal follower of Palpatine, but after he was used as a scapegoat I don’t think he has any remaining love for the Empire.
Even if he wants to hurt the Empire for what they did to him, I don’t think wants to get too involved. Hunter isn’t someone who tortures to get information, so, to grant Rampart’s full cooperation, the Bad Batch will have to fulfill his requests.
Maybe getting him out of prison was enough, hopefully, it is. I don’t want to see another episode of side questing. If Rampart actually gives them the right information they could infiltrate the planet without getting noticed.
There are only four episodes left and I’m very nervous about how everything will unfold. It would be super ironic that a former Imperial Admiral gave them the information to delay Project Necromancer.
Easter Eggs and References
Is that an X-Men reference?
This episode is named Juggernaut. I was wondering why until the scene with the HCVw A9 Turbo Tank that manages to drive through every obstacle the Empire throws at it. Its predecessor was the HAVw A6 Juggernaut, an even bigger vehicle that shares its name with an unstoppable mutant that appears in multiple X-Men series, comics, and movies.
Most hard-working species in the galaxy
In season 3 of The Mandalorian, Din Djarin encounters a group of Ugnaughts and talks about how their species is known for being incredibly hard workers. Rampart’s companion is none other than a Ugnaught, he gets angry at Rampart when he screws it up, delaying their work. Even under these circumstances, this species puts effort into anything they do.
I already tried it, it’s magnetically sealed!
Crosshair used the magnetically sealed walls to take down the TK Troopers. This is similar to what Han Solo did in A New Hope after he, Chewie, Luke, and Leia jumped into the trash compactor. Thankfully, the result was not the same!
