What is The High Republic Project
The High Republic is a multimedia project that officially began in 2021. The stories of this era are published in comics, novels for different ages, short stories, and even audio dramas. It covers from 382 BBY to 100 BBY.
More recently, it started spreading to video games with the Star Wars Jedi Survivor and The Acolyte TV Series.
There are three different Phases. The number of each phase represents the order in which they were released, but not the chronological order. The chronological order would be:
Phase II – Phase I – Phase III
What this article covers
I recommend that you experience these stories first hand but if that’s not possible then this article summarizes and explains the most important events from Phase II for anyone who doesn’t want or can’t spend time and money consuming these stories.
The information included here is taken mostly from the five main books of Phase II:
To put it into perspective, listening to all of them in audio format would take 55 hours at regular speed assuming you never rewind.
About Phase II
There are dozens of important characters and even more storylines. It all starts small and the scale of the story gets bigger gradually. Keeping track of everything can be overwhelming at first but the struggle is worth it.
During this era, the galaxy wasn’t as connected as we saw in the movies. People are constantly searching and finding new hyperspace lanes that grant safe passage to the far corners of the known galaxy. To help this effort, the Jedi and Republic deploy Pathfinder teams.
These teams are very small, usually consisting of a pilot, a medic, one or two droids, and a Jedi Master with a Padawan. There are many undiscovered planets, communication is complicated so even if something bad happens it’s not that easy to send a message to the core worlds.
The High Republic is considered an era of peace, but this is about to change. Phase II shows us the origin story of a small group that eventually evolves into a force that will bring the Republic to its knees in the following events of Phase I.
It is a time of great exploration. In an effort to unite the galaxy, the Chancellors of the Republic, working alongside the courageous Jedi Knights, have dispatched dozens of Pathfinder Teams into the farthest reaches of the Outer Rim.
But it is also a time of great uncertainty. Communication is unreliable, and tall tales of mysterious planets and monstrous creatures abound. Prospectors and pirates roam the frontier, and the worlds of Eiram and E’ronoh are locked in a forever war.
And on the far-off planet of Dalna, a new threat to the galaxy is beginning to emerge…
The Dalna Incident
This segment covers the events of Path of Deceit.
It all starts on the planet Dalna. A cult known as the Path of the Open Hand has installed itself near the Ferdan Settlement. The leader of this cult is Elecia Zeveron also known as The Mother, she meets with a treasure hunter called Radicaz Dobbs to see if he can help her obtain some specific Force-related objects.
The Rod of Daybreak, Rod of Ages, Rod of Seasons are the articles she’s most interested in acquiring but among all the items that Dobbs is carrying a mysterious egg catches her attention.
She takes the egg and accepts to work with the treasure hunter. Not long after, Radicaz Dobbs would steal the Road of Seasons from the Hynestian Queen.
The Path of the Open Hand believes that the Force should be liberated and that no one, especially the Jedi, should manipulate it for their personal gain. They state that even if the Force is used to do something good, that will cause the exact opposite effect in another part of the galaxy.
It’s important to point out that, unlike other Force-related religions, the Path of the Open Hand isn’t capable of using the Force in any way. Well, that is with the exception of The Mother who secretly uses her powers to influence the decisions of everyone near her.
The Hynestian Queen requests aid from the Jedi Order and they send the two Jedi who are closest: Jedi Master Zallah Macri and her young Padawan Kevmo Zink. Their investigation leads them to Dalna and the mysterious Path of the Open Hand.
Marda Ro and Yana Ro are two young Evereni girls who have been members of the Path for quite some time.
Marda is naive and kind so she’s easily manipulated by the Mother and always justifies any wrongdoing done in the name of their goals but her cousin Yana knows that this faith is a facade.
Yana’s father is the Herald of the Path, and her mother Kor is affected by a strange disease that has her laying in bed.
Not much time after their arrival in Dalna, Kevmo goes to the local market where he ends up meeting Marda Ro. There seems to be a spark between them, but as soon as Marda learns that Kevmo is a Jedi she gets angry and returns to the settlement.
While the two Jedi are stationed on Dalna, Yana Ro and a small group of kids are sent on a mission to steal another artifact. After her return, she and Marda talk about Kevmo. When Yana reports to the Mother, the idea of inviting the Jedi is suggested and approved.
Marda gives Zallah and Kevmo a tour of their compound and explains how the work is distributed. While the Jedi Master talks to the elders, Kevmo and Marda have a bonding moment where they share their points of view about the Force.
Kevmo is curious about a big construction site, Yana explains that they are building the Gaze Electric. When it’s ready, this huge starship will serve as the home and temple of the Path of the Open Hand.
Kevmo also asks some questions about the stolen artifacts but since Marda isn’t aware that the Path stole them she gets offended and Kevmo agrees to continue their search elsewhere.
It doesn’t take long before the Jedi Master and her apprentice grow more suspicious of this cult and end up confronting the Mother of all her suspicious activities. This is when the deadliest enemy of the Jedi is revealed.
The mysterious egg that the Mother keeps with her at all times carries a creature referred to as the Leveler or Nameless, which can devour the life essence of any Force-user in proximity. The rods that the Mother is acquiring are combined to create The Rod of Power, an instrument that lets the wielder control these deadly beasts.
The Nameless can make its victims hallucinate, and induce extreme terror while draining them of all life. Sadly, Zallah Macri and Kevmo Zink are the first Jedi to experience the power of the Nameless. Never in her life, Zallah Macri experienced something that completely paralyzed her in fear.
Even a fully-trained Jedi Master looks like a scared kid when one of these Nameless creatures gets involved. She and the poor Kevmo never stood a chance. The only thing that was left of them were two husks.
Kevmo’s death should have taught Marda Ro the true face of The Mother but instead of snapping out she just justified it by saying that all of it was a consequence of him manipulating the Force.
After these events, the Mother decides that they should head to Jedha, a planet considered the spiritual capital of the galaxy.
A Jedi called Azlin Rell begins to investigate the mysterious disappearance of his friend Kevmo. He manages to find the bodies of both Kevmo and Zallah, the young terrified about his findings and he reports it to Jedi Master Rinn. The two of them then report the troubling information to the High Council on Coruscant.
Eiram vs E’ronoh
This segment covers the events of Convergence.
The planets E’ronoh and Eiram are on the brink of war. These neighboring planets have been in conflict for decades and the very fragile ceasefire could be broken at any time. The Republic and Jedi Order intervened and convinced the two factions to have a peace summit on a neutral moon.
There are two Supreme Chancellors of the Republic during this period. The first one is Orlen Mollo, a Quarren who likes to solve problems more directly. He travels across the galaxy on his ship, the Paxion, and is often accompanied by Jedi.
The second Chancellor is Kyong Greylark, a smart woman who is more used to dealing with public opinion and the bad side of politics. Especially because her son, Axel Greylark is notorious for getting in trouble.
After bailing her son from prison, Kyong decides to send him as her representative to the summit. Axel doesn’t care about peace, war, or anything important. He’s just a pretentious rich kid who wants to live life to its fullest. After offering to release his inheritance in exchange, Kyong convinces her son to represent her.
The Monarch of E’ronoh and the Queen Adrialla of Eiram attend the summit. The Republic is represented by Supreme Chancellor Mollo with the help of Jedi Masters Creighton Sun, Char-Ryl, Roy, Padawan Enya Keen, and Jedi Knight Gella Nattai.
Days pass and it doesn’t look like there’s something coming out of it, there’s too much grudge between both planets. All the suffering that the people of both planets have endured for the last century makes an agreement virtually impossible.
Xiri A’lbaran daughter of the Monarch and heir to the throne of E’ronoh proposes that she and Phan-tu Zenn, son of the Queen and future leader of Eiram get married in order to finally bring a time of peace to both planets.
The idea of this union didn’t make many people happy, especially those close to the Monarch. The Viceroy of E’ronoh even attempted to kill Xiri but he was stopped by Phan-tu Zenn.
After many discussions, both parties finally agreed that Phan-tu and Xiri would get married. The news of the newly engaged couple got a lot of mixed reactions. The Republic and Jedi were extremely happy about a peaceful solution, but the people of both Eiram and E’ronoh weren’t so enthusiastic.
Another person who wasn’t thrilled about it was The Mother, she was benefitting from the conflict so a potential peace treatment would hinder her plans. The Path of the Open Hand is growing, they have members infiltrated almost everywhere. This includes big corporations and even the Republic.
Sabotage, assassination attempts, and treasonous soldiers are just some of the obstacles that Gella Nattai, Ziri, Phan-tu, and Axel had to overcome. The peace was extremely fragile and the interference of the Path of the Open Hand almost broke the peace on more than one occasion but in the end, Phan-tu and Xiri managed to unite in marriage.
However, it requires more than just a ceremony to make everything official. Eiram and E’ronoh are more than just their rulers and many people, including soldiers, simply refuse to believe that the other side is going to honor their word.
To settle everything, everyone agrees that the treaty should be signed in a neutral world, with representatives of Eiram, E’ronoh, the Republic, and the Jedi Order. This important event would take place on Jedha.
Chaos on Jedha
This segment covers the events of The Battle of Jedha.
The preparations for the peace treaty begin immediately. Delegations of Eiram and E’ronoh arrive at the planet. They are greeted by Jedi Master Creighton Sun and Aida Forte, who are the designated Jedi to oversee the treaty. Since neither planet is part of the Republic, the Jedi’s main job is to oversee the treaty without intervening directly.
Both delegations arrive with a considerable military force, it’s not ideal considering what’s at stake but none of them would agree to be there without any backup in case something went wrong. Xiri and Phan-tu might love each other, but it takes more than that to erase a grudge that has grown for generations.
Simultaneously, the Convocation of the Force is taking place. This event gathers many Force-related religions from around the galaxy in a single place. Its purpose is to improve the understanding of each other.
The Jedi and the Guardians of the Whills were the most notable groups but pretty much everyone could attend the Convocation, even if they were dark-side-oriented groups or cults like the Path of the Open Hand.
During the first moments of the peace treaty ceremony, a protocol droid explodes, wounding many attendees and killing others, including Morton San Tekka, the official mediator of the event. As a result, Tilson Graf is appointed as the new mediator.
As you can imagine, everyone started to point fingers and accuse others of this tragedy. Master Creighton Sun asks Jedi Master Silandra Sho to investigate who is behind the attack. The tensions got to the highest point, but everyone agreed to wait for proof.
The Mother asks the Convocation to have a member of the Path join as a permanent representative but this petition is denied. As a response, the Herald of the Path releases the Nameless creature.
Before anyone else can intervene, members of the Path clean the mess of the Nameless and portray themselves as the saviors of the day. The Herald starts to complain publicly about the Jedi and how they were refused a seat in the Convocation. It doesn’t take much before the people hearing him start a riot at the Kyber Temple.
Inside the temple, a second attempt is being made but it fails just like the first one. An individual wearing Eiram robes breaks in and kills the ambassador of E’ronoh. The ceasefire is over and Jedha turns into a battlefield.
A massive riot, the Nameless wandering around and the fight between the Eiram and E’ronoh armies make Jedha a living nightmare. With the help of the Guardians of the Whills, the Jedi do everything in their power to protect the people from the crossfire.
Despite all the chaos, Master Silandra Sho is able to find out that the person responsible for the bombing was a member of the Brotherhood of the Ninth Door. A dark side sect.
The Path of the Open Hand uses the chaos in their favor to retrieve the Rod of Daybreak which will help them have better control of the Nameless creature that is growing in size and power.
Jedi Knight Oliviah Zeveron and her Padawan Matthea Cathley happened to be stationed on Jedha during the Convocation. Oliviah’s participation in the whole battle is small compared to what others did but it’s important because Oliviah is the sister of Elecia Zeveron, The Mother.
Despite being sisters, there’s not a significant interaction between the two. Mainly because it’s been many years since the Jedi took Oliviah and Elecia doesn’t know how her sister looks.
During the riot, the Herald of the Path stabbed Oliviah when she was talking to an ally. Her wounds weren’t mortal but she had to evacuated to receive treatment.
It doesn’t take long before everything is completely out of control, not even the members of the Path are safe. In fact, the Mother almost died if it wasn’t because of Silandra Sho.
Thankfully, Jedi and Republic reinforcements arrive at Jedha. Master Creighton Sun is key in de-escalating the conflict but many lives from all parties are lost in the process.
The Herald is captured and blamed for the riot, and the Mother declares that he acted on his own. Yana Ro manages to rescue him and she reveals that the Mother killed every kid that went to steal a Force object, including the Herald’s daughter. Both reach the conclusion that she must be stopped.
Before heading back to Dalna, it is revealed that it was Tilson Graf who paid the Brotherhood of the Ninth Door to plant the bomb, obviously because the Mother ordered it.
Unfortunately, Tilson overestimates his value. As soon as they’re alone, the Mother shoots him to eliminate all loose ends.
Oliviah was supposed to go to Coruscant to receive more treatment but instead, she and her Padawan take the decision of heading to Dalna to investigate her sister’s cult.
Back to where it all started
This segment covers a portion Cataclysm.
Axel Greylark, the son of Chancellor Greylark is arrested for his role in the sabotage of the peace talks as well. Jedi Gella Nattai and Master Orin Dargha head to the facility where he’s being held. Axel denies some accusations but ultimately accepts that he has been working for the Mother.
After a few days, Greylark started to get very sick. This leads to both Chancellors ordering his transfer. Since Gella and Master Orin are there they offer to do the transfer themselves.
Not long after leaving the prison, their ship is attacked by Binnot Ullo, an extremely dangerous member of the Path. He successfully rescues Axel and steals one of Gella’s lightsaber. Binnot and Axel go back to Dalna.
The Mother sends multiple people to retrieve more Nameless eggs from a dangerous planet. Many died but the survivors managed to retrieve many eggs. In a short period of time, the Mother will amass a small army of deadly Force-eating monsters.
The Mother orders Binnot, to fabricate a scene that would lead Eiram to believe that E’ronoh wants to use a bioweapon known as Klytobacter against them. This bioweapon is basically a planet killer for any ocean planet like Eiram.
Binnot and a Gormak named Ganok pilot a ship that crashes on a moon between Eiram and E’ronoh. An Eiram captain finds out about it and reports it immediately. Queen Adrialla accuses E’ronoh of treason.
The news of the Jedha disaster arrived shortly after, causing both planets to return to war. The fighters of both sides destroy the communication buoys, leaving both systems incommunicated from the rest of the galaxy.
In this era, communicating across very long distances isn’t possible without communication buoys. So sending an important message isn’t as easy as just asking an astromech to increase the range of the comms.
Apart from the manipulation of the conflict, the Mother hijacks other more communication buoys to limit long-range communication and prevent important messages from reaching the Republic and Jedi Order.
Jedi Master Char-Ryl-Roy, Enya Keen, Xiri A’lbaran and Phan-tu Zenn travel to Eiram to interrogate Binnot and Ganok. The two members of the Path of the Open Hand managed to free themselves and attack the Jedi and the heirs.
Phan-tu gets stabbed after protecting Xiri and Ganok dies accidentally after falling victim of his own poison. Before dying he screams “The Force will be free”, which is the Path’s motto. Binnot manages to escape after claiming that poison canisters would explode in E’ronoh if they didn’ let him leave.
The war won’t stop completely until the Path is dealt with. Char-Ryl-Roy, Enya Keen and Xiri A’lbaran make the decision of heading to the Path’s home planet.
After some time and much effort, Gella Nattai is able to track her kyber crystal through the Force. Like everything that involves the Path, the trace leads her and master Orin to Dalna.
This is when it gets very interesting, every important character from Phase II is going to Dalna.
Blackmailing Chancellor Greylark
The original plan of the Mother was to have Axel Greylark become Supreme Chancellor, but since his reputation is everything but good that became impossible. However, there was still something useful he could do.
Axel foolishly believes that he has a bright future in the Path of the Open Hand so he still obeys the mother without hesitation. The task consists of sending a message to his mother, Chancellor Kyong Greylark, saying that he’s in danger and that she must go to Dalna.
When Chancellor Greylark gets to Dalna, the Mother intends to exchange Axel’s well-being for influence in Chancellor Greylark’s important decisions.
Not much later, Gella Nattai and Master Orin find Axel and try to convince him not to send the message. Gella has strong feelings for Axel, this and the conflict inside Axel prevent the Jedi from taking a more aggressive and effective approach.
Binnot enters the room with a few guards and orders them to kill the Jedi. Gella and Master Orin kill the guards and subdue Binnot but to Gella’s surprise, Axel defends Binnot. Within a second, Binnot uses his special glove to poison Master Orin. Sadly, he dies a few moments later and Gella is taken prisoner.
The Chancellor knows that abandoning her son isn’t possible, but she isn’t stupid. The intentions of the Mother to manipulate her are more than obvious so she does the unthinkable, stepping down as Supreme Chancellor of the Republic.
The Mother gets furious about this. Axel is no longer useful to her so she orders Binnot to put him to good use and to kill Kyong Greylark as soon as she arrives. Binnot destroys Axel’s droid and best friend QN-1. It took this much but Axel finally realizes that there’s nothing for him in the Path of the Open Hand.
The Night of Sorrow
This and the upcoming segments cover Cataclysm and Path of Vengeance. It’s the main event of Phase II, which is explored from the perspective of different characters.
The Jedi and Republic decide that it’s time to finally intervene more directly. Whenever the Path goes, chaos and destruction follow, it’s time for action. Communication might be limited but this doesn’t prevent many people from reaching the same conclusion: they must investigate what’s happening on Dalna.
Many teams end up going to Dalna; the first official team to be designated was made of Jedi Master Creighton Sun, Jedi Knight Aida Forte, two of Chancellor Greylark’s personal guards, Priv Ittik and Lu Sweet. They would be later joined by Jedi Master Yaddle, and Padawan Cippa Tarko.
Jedi Masters Gluth Andoi and Ela Sutan felt how the Force was calling them to Dalna, so they decide to also head to the planet in an unofficial mission with the company of Master Rinn and Azlin Rell. Quick reminder, Azlin Rell is the Jedi who first found the remains of Kevmo Zink and Zallah Macri.
Oliviah and Cathley managed to arrive at Dalna before any of the Jedi teams. The two Jedi reached the Path’s compound and started talking to one of its members, including three kids.
Despite Oliviah’s best efforts to present herself as friendly as possible, the small kids raise the alarm. Not much later, the Mother brought her monstrous pet to deal with the Jedi. Both were incapacitated but alive. The Mother asked Yana Ro to take them to the town but she had other plans.
Yana takes Oliviah and Matthea to the Herald where they begin planning an alliance, as strange as that reads. Before their talk finishes the Jedi ship carrying Azlin Rell and Master Rinn crashes near them. The Herald thinks it was all a ruse by the Jedi and he attacks the Jedi.
Simultaneously, Master Yaddle’s group encounters more members of the Path of the Open Hand. They attack the Jedi so Master Yaddle has no choice but to retaliate. Creighton Sun and Aida Forte went ahead to investigate so only Yaddle, Cippa, and the guards were present.
Before landing on Dalna, Xiri, asks to meet with the Path. They are greeted by an Elder of the Path but he refuses to give any information before receiving a “gift”. Enya decides to offer her kyber crystal. The Elder and other members of the Path listen to Xiri but they don’t answer any important question.
The elder gets very nervous and after confusing one of Xiri’s droids for an assassin model and hearing a voice comm from Phan-tu stating that they shouldn’t trust them. The Path members aim at them with their weapons but before something else happens an explosion is heard nearby.
Master Char-Ryl-Roy is able to distinguish Master Creighton Sun and Aida Forte running away from the explosion and heading in their direction. The elder orders the guards to kill Xiri and the Jedi but they fail.
Creighton and Aida tell Char-Ryl-Roy and that they found (and destroyed) a lab where they are fabricating the klytobacter. They decide to return to the ship where Yaddle is waiting but they’re intercepted by enforcer droids. Xiri is almost killed by out of nowhere Phan-tu appears to save her wife. Despite the wounds from his previous attack, the prince hid himself in the ship.
The group manage to get to Master Yaddle but they’re being chased by droids and Path members. They attempt to flee on the ship but it’s shot and it crashes shortly after. Before the crash, Master Char-Ryl-Roy manages to send a message requesting help and learns about all the other Jedi that are also in Dalna and already fighting.
Everyone is separated during the crash, Yaddle hides with Cippa. Creighton and Aida are fighting the droids. Xiri and Phan-tu search for a hangar to steal a ship.
The couple manage to steal a ship, they provide some air support during the fight but their true purpose is to get off the planet and bring back reinforcements. They are the only hope for the Jedi.
Later, a ship landed near Creighton. It was a transport carrying around a hundred Dalnans and Jedi Master Fliss Woora. She heard the message and managed to gather a few people who were willing to fight the Path of the Open Hand. It’s not much but this buys them more time.
The Greylark’s fight back
Still in the underground caves of the Path’s compound, Binnot takes Axel to a room full of weapons. According to Binnot the new role of Axel is simply to be a soldier and hurt as many enemies as possible.
He also reveals to Axel that a new sub-group has formed, the Path of the Closed Fist. This new group is an even more radical and violent faction, they still follow the Mother but unlike other members of the Path they are not held down by any morals or decency. The leader of this group is none other than Marda Ro.
When Axel, Binnot, and other members emerge from the caves he realizes the true scale of the battle. Jedi, dozens of Enforcer Droids, and Path members are fighting everywhere. Binnot asks the children to take the lives of their enemies but one of them refuses, then he orders Axel to shoot the kid but instead, he tries to shoot Binnot.
The weapon is locked, Binnot laughs and is about to shoot Axel when an explosion triggers. This is when the Dalnan reinforcements arrive, Binnot quickly rushes to fight the new attackers and leaves Axel on the floor, assuming he’s dead. Axel manages to stay awake despite the pain and rushes to find Gella.
Former Chancellor Kyong Greylark prepares to depart on an armored shuttle when Master Yoda arrives at her door. He states that no word has been heard from the Jedi sent to Dalna so he and another Jedi contingent are going with her.
Halfway through the journey to Dalna, Yoda and Kyong receive a distress call from Xiri and Phant-tu, and they explain everything that’s going on. Kyong receives a message from Chancellor Mollo stating that both Queen Adrialla and The Monarch also received the message but continued to have never-ending arguments.
Kyong tells Mollo that he must do what he does best. Yoda heads to retrieve Xiri and Phan-tu while Kyong and the Jedi contingent continue to Dalna.
Axel tricks a guard to take him to Gella’s prison cell. The guard is knocked out and Gella immediately attacks Axel, because of him many people have died, including Master Orin. Axel reveals his change of heart but Gella Nattai doesn’t fully believe his words. But this doesn’t change the fact that they still have to get out of the caves.
Once they’re out, Axel removes his Path robes and other members start to attack them. A ship shoots and eliminates the attackers, landing near them just a few moments later. Kyong Greylark is finally reunited with her son.
She calls Master Creighton Sun to announce the Jedi contingent that arrived with her and that more help is on the way. After many hours, finally, some hope lightens the faces of the Jedi who have been fighting tirelessly but they are still extremely outnumbered and outgunned. It’s unclear if they’ll survive before the aid arrives.
The battle intensifies
Master Char-Ryl-Roy and Enya Keen fight fiercely but they are slowing getting tired with every new enemy. Path members keep coming out of the underground caves to join the fight, they must cut them off. The Jedi Master and his Padawan decide to split temporarily and meet at the cave entrance shortly after.
Char-Ryl-Roy joins the Dalnans while Padawan Keen confronts a Path of the Open Hand who is wielding a green lightsaber. She almost gets killed but she manages to defeat her opponent and recover the lightsaber. She continues to move through the battlefield when a sensation of overwhelming terror invades her.
Enya hears agonizing screams and there’s nothing she can do about it. They sound like someone being tortured to death, the Padawan collapses momentarily but she’s able to stand up and continue to the caves.
She and her Master find the husk of a fellow Jedi. Before engaging more enemies, Char-Ryl-Roy confirms that the recovered lightsaber belonged to Master Orin Dargha. The man who was poisoned by Binnot.
Despite fighting many Path members at the caves, many enforcer droids are getting to the battlefield from other directions. But something is wrong, the droids are attacking both Jedi and Path members. They are completely out of control.
Enya decides to head where the enforcer droids are wreaking havoc. She finds the elder who was giving orders to the droids but he says that the Path has evolved into something else. The Mother is nowhere to be found and the droids no longer answer to him.
Enya lowers her guard and the elder grabs the Padawan’s lightsaber from her belt and pulls up a blaster. Before shooting Enya he is killed by an enforcer droid. The Padawan manages to recover the kyber crystal that the elder demanded as a “gift” when they first met.
Chaos everywhere
At this point, all the small eggs that the Mother gathered have already hatched. The first Nameless creature that killed Kevmo Zink and Zallah Macri is by far the biggest and strongest, but the others are still lethal against any Jedi.
Most of them are still underground but a few of them have reached the surface and are slowly wearing the Jedi down. Even if they’re not close, the Jedi can feel their presence and suffer the effects.
Creighton Sun and Aida Forte are some of the affected. The two Jedi had to withstand the horrible sensation of terror while being attacked by many Path Members and this made them lose track of each other. Aida is stabbed in the leg but before she is killed Master Yaddle arrives to save her.
Yaddle doesn’t stay for long, she spots a familiar face nearby and runs toward Cippa Tarko. The Padawan returned to the fight after hiding in a storage. Both try to find Priv and Lu but sadly Lu has already been killed.
Creighton Sun finds Aida in a bad state, enforcer droids attack Aida, and an elderly woman who is just a few steps away from her. Simultaneously, a speeder is going in Creighton Sun’s direction. He decides to force push the droids away from Aida, but this means that the speeder is going to hit him. Master Sun’s femur is broken in two and he is shot twice.
The two Jedi have reached their limit but only Sun’s wounds are not fatal. While Sun holds Aida Forte she smiles and tells him that she’s happy to have him with her during this moment. Seconds later her eyes would close, never to be opened again.
Gella and Axel are able to find Master Sun holding Aida. She grabs the master’s comlink and asks desperately for help, they are sustaining heavy losses and things are just about to get worse. Master Char-Ryl-Roy answers her call but is unable to provide any help.
Gella tells Master Roy that they will go to him but the Jedi Master ignores it and says that “something” is coming, he asks Gella to tell Enya before communications are cut off. Gella Nattai felt Master Roy dying in the blink of a second.
Before the group manages to head to another location, Kyong Greylark is shot in the gut. Master Creighton Sun pushes them to keep fighting but realistically there is no way out for them.
The Path of the Open Hand’s defeat
Time is over, but so is the wait. Master Yoda, Xiri A’lbaran and Phan-tu Zenn have returned with ground and air forces from both E’ronoh and Eiram. The remaining Path of the Open Hand members and enforcer droids are no match for these combined armies.
The Path members that still remain on the planet know that defeat is inevitable and start running away. Medics are dispatched to aid all the wounded people who fought bravely.
Gella and Axel track down Binnot to the underground caves, he knows that there is nowhere to run or hide so he grabs Axel with the intention of taking him as a hostage. The sound of many bombs is heard in the entire area. Axel punches Binnot and kicks his hand into his own chest.
Binnot gets poisoned by his own glove and dies on the spot. The place starts flooding, Axel recovers Gella’s lightsabers and both swim to the surface but the cave entrance collapses. Yoda and Yaddle sense this so rush to rescue them.
What was a bloody battlefield turns into a quiet place. The Path of the Open Hand has been defeated.
Elecia Zeveron’s downfall
Unlike the Mother or the Herald, Marda Ro actually believes in the ideals of the Path of the Open Hand. She is extremely passionate and naive, but this grants her many followers. She even manages to surpass the authority of the Mother.
This moment is extremely important because Marda Ro gains control of the Rod of Power and the recognition of every member as the true guide of the Path of the Open Hand.
When the Mother learns that the Jedi are coming she orders some kids to plant bombs inside the caves. After this, she simply ordered Binnot to handle everything while she went inside the cave.
During the first moments of the battle of Dalna, Olivia, Matthea, and Azlin Rell subdue the Herald and extract important information about the compound. He takes them to the chamber where the Mother usually lies but to achieve this the group has to split. Azlin and Matthea stayed behind to fight.
Both of them witnessed how a Nameless killed and devoured another Jedi. Azlin got scared to death and refused to continue but Matthea ignored him and went ahead to help Oliviah. Azlin witnessed more Jedi getting killed by one of these terrifying creatures.
He was dragged out of the caves by a Jedi Master but the damage was already done. Azlin Rell experienced the presence of the Nameless three times, and that was enough to drive him mad.
Oliviah meets the Mother and reveals that she’s her older sister. After a short conversation, both start fighting. Oliviah wins the duel and captures Elecia. Oliviah tries to explain the Jedi way to her sister. Moments later Marda Ro arrives with her favorite pet.
Marda Ro might hate the Jedi, but as much as the woman who lied to her and used the Force for her selfish reasons. Elecia attempts to convince Marda of a new beginning but it’s too late for that. Marda turned the Nameless against Elecia, turning her into a husk.
Oliviah was shocked to see her sister get devoured but luckily for her Matthea Cathley and two more Jedi arrived to help her escape.
Marda Ro understands that Dalna is no longer a place for the Path of the Closed Fist, it’s time to find a new home. She knows about the bombs that were planted in the caves, so she decides to call all the Nameless creatures inside. Well, all but one.
The bombs bury the creatures under the rocks. Marda Ro and the remaining members of the Path board the Gaze Electric and take off before the Jedi or anyone else can notice they’re leaving.
The Aftermath
Gella wakes up in a medical room. Axel is next to her and tells her that they won. Kyong Greylark doesn’t return to Chancellorship but expresses interest in opening a school. Axel apologizes for all the trouble he caused and tells Gella that he must head to a detention center to pay his sentence.
The royal families of Eiram and E’ronoh arrive at the Jedi temple, where they meet with Yoda and other Jedi, including Cippa, Yaddle, and Creighton Sun. Everyone present honors the lives of Masters Char-Ryl-Roy, Orin Dargha, Jedi Knight Aida Forte, and the other souls that were lost on Dalna. After the death of Char-Ryl-Roy, Enya Keen becomes Master Sun’s Padawan.
When updating the Jedi Archive Creighton Sun and Yoda agree that any knowledge regarding the Nameless is extremely dangerous, so they decide not to report it and never to speak about that again.
Azlin Rell continues to be haunted by the visions caused by the Nameless, his extreme fear makes him abandon the Jedi Order and start a journey to understand more about these creatures.
Eiram and E’ronoh are finally at peace. A ceremony is held to celebrate the event, Enya Keen, Creighton Son, and Chancellor Mollo are present but this time the treaty will be handled directly by the planets’ governments.
Marda Ro would explore the galaxy aboard the Gaze Electric to recruit more members. Her hate for the Jedi only grew stronger. Marda Ro’s ideals would evolve and the Path of the Closed Fist would eventually turn into the Nihil. Marchion Ro, the main antagonist of Phase I is a direct descendant of Marda Ro.
