Celebrate the 20th Anniversary of Revenge of the Sith watching the theatrical re-release this April.
Revenge of the Sith marked the end of the prequel trilogy and an era for many of us. Even if everyone already expected what was going to happen in the movie, it still felt incredibly special to see it on the big screen.
The downfall of Anakin Skywalker is probably the biggest tragedy of Star Wars and the foundation of the franchise.
Last year, we were able to celebrate the 25th anniversary of The Phanom Menace with the movie coming back to multiple theaters during an entire week. 2025 marks the 20th anniversary of Revenge of the Sith and we are able to repeat that glorious experience.
Revenge of the Sith will be available on April 25, 2025, in select theaters. The final film of the prequel trilogy is coming out in multiple formats including, for the first time, 4DX.
So far, no specific locations have been announced but what has been confirmed is that it’s not exclusive to the United States.
The 20th-anniversary poster was made by renowned graphic artist Matt Ferguson. Ferguson has done posters for important films including Alien: Romulus, Blade Runner 2049, Dune, and The Phantom Menace (25th anniversary).
I love everything about this poster. Darth Vader overshadowing Anakin, the CIS and Republic fleets going at each other on the top, a small visible part of Coruscant on the sides, and Anakin dueling Obi-Wan right at the center.
I find it hard to believe that it’s already been twenty-five years since Revenge of the Sith came out in cinemas. As someone born in the 90s, I think it’s probably my most vivid Star Wars memory and also my fondest.
I remember going to my local cinema for the midnight screening. Since the anticipation was so high I decided to arrive early. To kill some time, I went to the game store where I saw the Revenge of the Sith game available for XBOX. As excited as I was, I decided not to look at the back of the box to prevent getting spoiled.
A couple of hours later I was coming out of the movie that would mark my childhood and a good portion of my life. Twenty years later it’s still one of my favorite movies and by far my most anticipated moment when someone I know is watching Star Wars for the first time.
I can’t imagine how exciting it is for many people who also watched it as kids and are now able to share that moment with their own children. It’s definitely going to be a fantastic experience!
We are still over a month away from April and it’s already looking like a massive month for Star Wars fans. Star Wars Celebration 2025, Season 2 of Andor, and Revenge of the Sith.
