Assassin’s Creed Shadows: Path of the Blade and Omi Assassin Outpost

Adrian by Adrian|

The Path of the Blade is a parkour challenge for Naoe, located in Omi and the Assassin Outpost where Naoe reveals more of the Kakushiba ikki’s secrets. The rewards include Sumire’s Gear and a Knowledge Point.

What are the Hidden Trails

Hidden Trails are linear traversal challenges in the open world where Naoe has to parkour a difficult terrain from the starting point to the end, where a treasure chest awaits.

Several of the Paths are part of The Assassins story arc for Naoe where she discovers the secrets of the Assassin’ Creed in Japan and her own family’s past and role in all of this.

The Hidden Trails are labeled on the map with red markers and their names start with “Path of …”. You can complete them at any point. There is no combat involved on these Paths (except at the Kii Assassin Outpost). The gear piece you receive in the end, will usually try to match the current level of your character.

There are several visual guides for you to follow to make sure you are staying on the proper path:

  1. Candles
  2. Flags
  3. Painted markings on the rocks

How to start the Path of the Blade

The path of the Blade starts far in the southeast part of the Suzuka Foothills, in Omi. The easiest way to get there is by following the river.

Starting from the lamp post, head east, you will walk upstairs and see a big rock with the yellow painted marker on it. Get on top of it.

Use Naoe’s hook to get to the other side. There’s another marked rock there, climb it and follow the yellow marked path that’s next to the waterfall.

Follow the stairs, you will see another small waterfall. Climb the nodes that are on the right side of it. Continue walking for a few meters until you see a yellow marked wall, climb it all the way to the top.

The path ends around the corner, make a jump to the other side. You will see a big wall with no apparent way to continue.

Slide between the small gap, then use Naoe’s hook in order to get to the other side of the ledge. A massive wall lies ahead, go to the top where you’ll see a lamp post.

Use Naoe’s hook to get to the other side, the lamp post can serve as a guide if you are struggling with calculating the distance. Once there, you have to crawl and get inside a close area. Immediately after standing up, look for the marked wall that’s in front of the entrance and climb it.

Reminder: Jump off the hook when you are arriving at the high point of your swing to make the perfect transition or Naoe might slip and fall.

Next, you’ll have to perform a double jump using Naoe’s hook. While simple, it still requires decent timing and precision. The treasure chest is next to the lamp post that’s at the end of the road. It contains Sumire’s epic armor. This will also complete the Hidden Trail Path of the Blade and reward you with a Knowledge Point.

Omi Assassin Outpost

The outpost is part of Naoe’s quest chain “The Assassins”, where she discovers clues about the Kakushiba ikki. Technically, you can reach this outpost without completing the Path of the Blade, but the intended way is for you to go through it.

The letter she finds at the outpost reveals a plead for help from her mother. It continues the story of the bodies Naoe discovered in the Kofun in Izumi Settsu.
