How to start The Iron Hand Guild quest
Before you can start this quest, you’ll need to complete the first act of Assassin’s Creed Shadows. This is when Yasuke joins The League and becomes unlocked as a playable character.
Go to Sakai and go north of the Sakai Kakurega to meet with Imai Sokun. He’ll tell you of people taking advantage of the recent chaos and that someone is using his family’s name for business. He’ll ask you to assassinate The Iron Hand but try to spare the merchants working for him.
Where to find the targets
Because Imai Sokun only wants the imposter dead, you only need to kill The Iron Hand to complete the quest. This is relatively easy to do and you’ll still get most of the rewards the other targets drop.
If you still want to take out each individual target, you can read about them ahead. While it’s not what Imai Sokun wants, you’ll get an epic weapon and 2 mastery points per target killed. If you spare them, you’ll only get their letters and engravings.
If you only eliminate The Iron Hand to spare the others, you do not get extra mastery points or the epic weapons that the four merchants drop.
Merchant Ginroku
Merchant Ginroku can be found in Miyazu Bay in northwest Tamba. He’ll be near the bridges that lead into Miyazu Castle.
To spare Ginroku, go to his house southwest of Miyazu Castle and loot the scroll found inside.
You’ll gain the following rewards for assassinating Merchant Ginroku:
- Epic Long Katana – Lavish Affliction (if killed)
- Engraving – Ammo on Kill
- Quest Item – Letter Regarding Tamba
- 2 Mastery Points (if killed)
- 295 Mon (if killed)
Merchant Kanta
Merchant Kanta can be found in one of two locations depending if it’s night or day. During the day, he’ll be at the Rice Shipyard in Otsu, Omi.
During the night, he’ll be in his home in the Otsu Upper District. To spare him manually for the mastery point, loot the scroll on a table in his home. Upon picking this up, he’ll be spared.
You’ll gain the following rewards for assassinating Merchant Kanta:
- Epic Kanobo – Kanobo of Gluttony (if killed)
- Engraving – Critical Chance under Half Health
- 2 Mastery Points (if killed)
- 345 Mon (if killed)
Merchant Kin-no-suke
Merchant Kin-no-suke is found in Obama, Wakasa. More specifically, he’s north of Kara Market and east of the Trading Port. If you wish to assassinate him, take out his three guards then him.
If you want to spare him, go to the storage sheds southwest of him. You’ll find a Letter Regarding Obama that’ll spare him once picked up.
You’ll gain the following rewards for assassinating Merchant Kin-no-suke:
- Epic Bow – Harrowing Wealth (if killed)
- Engraving – Armor Damage after Ability
- Quest Item – Letter Regarding Obama
- 2 Mastery Points (if killed)
- 280 Mon (if killed)
Merchant Tamao
Merchant Tamao can be found in southern Kyoto across the street from Honpoji Temple. He’s locked up in a warehouse with no way to get inside, so you’ll need to lure him out by destroying his pots.
From here, you can assassinate him. To spare him, sneak inside his warehouse as he looks around the area and loot the scroll on the table.
You’ll gain the following rewards for assassinating Merchant Kin-no-suke:
- Hideout Room – Zashiki
- Quest Item – Letter Regarding Kyoto
- 2 Mastery Points (if killed)
- 280 Mon (if killed)
The Iron Hand
The Iron Hand is found in Fukuchiyama Castle in northern Tamba. He’s accompanied by three guards at all times and is typically on the south end of the castle where the garden is.
It’ll be easier to use Naoe to scale up the south wall to get straight into the garden. There is no option to spare The Iron Hand so just go in, kill him, and get out. During the night he’s in the garden. During the day, he’s a little bit north of the garden.
You’ll get the following rewards for assassinating The Iron Hand:
- Epic Long Katana – Bloody Business
- Engraving – Damage with Poison
- Quest Item – Letter from Iron Hand
- 2 Mastery Points
- 320 Mon
