How to start The Hunters of Kyonyo Quest
There are two ways to start this quest, the first (and likely intended way) is to talk to Kennyo. He’ll be found at Fudo-do Temple in Negoroji, Kii.
Alternatively, you can start this quest by talking to Kyonyo. He’s currently hiding in a secret room in Saika Temple Grounds next to Saika Castle. Look for the square hole with the ladder.
Unlike many other objective circles, you’ll need to perform any prerequisite actions for each target in order for them to appear.
Inumaru, The Ambusher
Investigate the ambush site in central Kii. You’ll run into a ronin investigating some bodies. Defeat and loot the ronin to pick up the letter, Come to Yunomine.
Inumaru will appear at Yakushi Onsen in western Kumano Sanzan, Kii. The nearest fast travel point is the Yunotani Kakurega.
Once defeated, you’ll gain the following rewards from Inumaru:
- Epic Katana – Mending Bond
- Engraving – Armor Piercing with Ability
- Letter from Inumaru
- 2 Mastery Points
- 305 Mon
Kamakichi, The Spy
You need to find the spy’s hideout in northeastern Saika, Kii. Their hideout will be located in an abandoned house. Read the three scrolls strewn about the house.
By day, The Spy will be in Saika’s market (#1 on the map below). By night, he’ll be in Saika’s Monk Houses (#2). He disguises himself as a beggar with tattered clothes and a straw hat.
When defeated, you’ll gain the following rewards from Kamakichi:
- Epic Kusarigama – Whip of the Deserter
- Engraving – Damage over Half Health
- To the Leader letter
- 2 Mastery Points
- 250 Mon
Talk to Kyonyo
After assassinating The Spy, your next objective is to talk to Kyonyo (if you haven’t already). As mentioned earlier, he’s in a hidden room in Saika Temple Grounds. That’s right, you go in the square hole.
Kyonyo will provide you with more information about the men hunting him. You can then use these clues to further progress the quest.
Shishi-o, The Interrogator
Shish-o is found at Kumano Nachi Taisha in eastern Kii. This temple northwest of the Kumano Kakurega.
When defeated, you’ll gain the following rewards from Shishi-o:
- Epic Tanto – Traitor’s Bargain
- Engraving – Health on Kill
- Training Advice to Shishi-o Letter
- 2 Mastery Points
Toro, The Shinobi
Your first step to tracking down the Shinobi is to talk to the guard near Koyasan Danjo Garan at Koyasan, Kii. He is south of the Ornament Vendor.
After your talk, he’ll send you to the head monk outside the Monks’ District. Don’t go inside the Monks’ District just yet, the head monk will be right outside.
He’ll ask your help to set up a trap for the assassin targeting him. When it’s night, go into the Monks’ District and extinguish the four lights in the building. This will draw out Toro and he’ll slowly investigate each room.
Once defeated, you’ll gain the following rewards from Toro:
- Epic Bow – Call of Koyasan
- Engraving – Adrenaline on Consecutive Hits
- 2 Mastery Points
- 344 Mon
Tsuchi-Gumo
Before you can take out the hunters’ leader, you’ll need to talk to Kyonyo southeast of Akagi Fort. Follow him to Akagi Fort and you’ll get the option go alone or fight together. You may choose either option as neither affect the outcome of the quest.
This area is heavily guarded and is tricky to sneak through without getting caught. If you’re playing as Naoe, hug the right side of the fort and go in a counter-clockwise motion to eventually reach the building where Tsuchi-Gumo is.
Once defeated, you’ll gain the following rewards from Tsuchi-Gumo:
Flowing Peace
Stats Boost
+ Weapon DPS
+ Posture DPS
+ Ability Damage
+ Daze Buildup
Engraving
1 Health Segment removed after Armor Break
- 2 Mastery Points
- 250 Mon
Talk to Kyonyo and Kennyo outside of Akagi Fort to complete the quest. You’ll gain 7,000 XP and unlock the Enhanced Impact Kusarigama Passive for Naoe, and the Disabling Strike Naginata Passive for Yasuke.
