What to expect from Star Wars Visions Volume 3

Adrian by Adrian|

Day 3 of Star Wars Celebration kicked off with the Star Wars Visions Volume 3 panel. We got teasers, a release date, and even a new exciting surprise!

Star Wars Visions is a project that lets animation studios create a Star Wars story with their unique visual and storytelling styles. The first Volume was made exclusively by anime studios in Japan. Volume 2 involved animation studios from all parts of the world.

Volume 3 returns to its roots in Japan. Multiple anime studios worked on nine original shorts. Star Wars Visions Volume 3 comes out October 29, 2025.

Returning faces

Three of the most popular shorts are receiving a continuation. Obviously, made by the same studios. These shorts are The Duel, The Village Bride, and The Ninth Jedi.

The Duel from Kamikaze Douga

Takanobu Mizuno, director of The Duel, tells the audience that The Ronin has continued to hunt down many Sith. But his next obstacle is a Jedi who goes by the name of Grand Master. The short following this story is called The Duel: Payback.

The Village Bride from Kinema citrus Co.

Director Hitoshi Haga presents The Lost Ones, a story that follows up on the events of The Village Bride. The main theme of this short is the grief of the people who lost a family member during Order 66 and how they deal with it.

The Ninth Jedi from Production I.G.

The Ninth Jedi: Child of Hope is the sequel to The Ninth Jedi. Director Naoyoshi Shiotani briefly states that this short will follow Kara in her search for her father.

New stories

Additionally, the panel also showed the title, sometimes a small description, and even concept art of each episode, so the audience gets a small idea of what they can expect from all these shorts.

Yuko’s Treasure from Kinema citrus Co.

This adorable creature is named Billy. He has an ice-cream maker and a microwave. Jawas will also appear in the story since it looks like it takes place on Tatooine.

The Smuggler from TRIGGER

This brand-new story explores the life of a young thief. The dialogue was entirely in Japanese, but Han Solo was mentioned a few times. I have the impression that it is heavily inspired by the charismatic smuggler.

The Bounty Hunters from WIT Studio

The Song of Four Wings from Project Studio Q

This short has a red-headed princess named Frane. It will focus on machines and droids.

The Bird of Paradise from Polygon Pictures

Black from David Production

A story that delves deep into the individuality of Stormtroopers and how they go through life as “secondary characters”. They showed a few seconds of the short, and it is something completely unique. The most curious thing about it was the Cowboy Bebop-style music.

But wait, there’s more

After showing those exciting teasers of Volume 3, the presenter also announced Star Wars Visions Presents. This is a new initiative that allows the studios behind these shorts to bring their vision into long-form storytelling.

The Ninth Jedi will be the first one getting a full series. The exact release date wasn’t disclosed, but you can expect to see it in 2026.

Who are the Studios involved

There are some top-notch anime studios, but there are many of us who are not familiar with them or their previous work. This segment is for everyone who falls into this category and would like to know more about the studios involved in Star Wars Visions Volume 3.

David Production

David Production is a studio founded in 2007 which is mostly known for its anime adaptation of the renowned manga JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure but they have also worked on projects like Cells at Work!! and Captain Subasa.

Polygon Pictures

Founded in 1983, Polygon Pictures is one of the oldest animation studios in the world. They have worked in things like Transformers Prime, Star Wars: The Clone Wars, and multiple VR experiences. As well as producing titles like Knights of Sidonia, Ajin: Demi-Human, and Pingu in the City.

Pingu in the city

Project Studio Q

With only seven years since its establishment, this studio is young compared to many others on this list. Despite this, they have managed to make a reputation due to the expertise of many of its founders who previously worked on classics like Neon Genesis Evangelion.

Neon Genesis Evangelion

WIT Studio

One year after its foundation in 2012, WIT Studio made the list of the top animation studios when they released the first season of Attack on Titan. Since then, they have continued to work on top-tier animes like Vinland Saga and Spy x Family.

Attack on Titan

Kamikaze Douga

The twenty-year-old studio is repeating its participation in Star Wars Visions. Their first participation was with “The Duel”. This story tells the tale of a Samurai-like character who happens to be in a village when bandits attack it. He ends up fighting with the leader of the bandits, a female Sith.

Kinema Citrus Co.

Kinema Citrus was founded in 2008, it is mostly known for Eureka Seven and Tokyo Magnitude 8.0, The Rising of the Shield Hero, and Made in Abyss. Just like Kamikaze Douga, they are among the studios who are coming back for Volume 3. Their previous short was The Village Bride.

Star Wars Visions The Village Bride

Production I.G.

Production I.G. are veterans in the anime industry. They have not only made important animes but also scenes for video games. Psycho-Pass, Ghost in the Shell, Kaiju No. 8, Neon Genesis Evangelion: The End of Evangelion are just some of the projects in their long list of things produced over the past 30 years. The Ninth Jedi was their contribution to the first volume of Star Wars Visions.

Trigger

Since 2013 they have released multiple works that have earned them praise for their very particular visual style. Kill la Kill, Little Witch Academia, and Cyberpunk: Edgerunners are among the most well-known animes of Trigger studio. They previously worked in The Twins episode.

Star Wars Visions The Ninth Jedi

As you might have noticed, there are some heavy hitters on the roster. I have enjoyed Visions because of how different they are to what we are used to while also retaining the familiarity element.
