How to start the story pack, The Works of Luis Frois, in Assassin’s Creed Shadows. Help Luis Frois conduct his missionary work in Japan.
How to unlock and start The Works of Luis Frois
The Works of Luis Frois is a small story pack that came out with Update 1.0.4. and is free to those with a copy of Assassin’s Creed Shadows.
You’ll gain access after completing Yasuke’s personal quest, The Path He Walks. This is the quest where Yasuke seeks information on Duarte from Luis Frois.
Once you complete that quest, you’ll find Father Frois in the Merchants’ Quarters in southwestern Azuchi, Omi. You can play as either Naoe or Yasuke for this series of quests.
The Works of Luis Frois Quests
This story pack introduces four quests that have Naoe and Yasuke helping Luis Frois perform his missionary work and ensuring his safety. These are fairly short and trivial, acting as world and character building.
The Works of Luis Frois
Talk to Luis Frois in southwestern Azuchi, Omi. He’s a short trip south of the Azuchi Kakurega and is at a small temple.
Luis Frois has lost some notes about his time in Japan and needs help gathering them. After selecting to play as Naoe or Yasuke, search the nearby area for the three missing notes
Note 1: The Mother and Son
The first note you’ll most likely run into is near the temple where you met Luis. A mother and son will be talking about a paper they found. Talk to them
Note 2: Rooftop with the Crane
The second note is on a rooftop with a crane resting there. Climb up and retrieve the note.
Note 3: Daikan Mansion
If you go to the northeast corner of the Merchants’ Quarters, you’ll find a little girl crying near the river. Talk to her and she’ll tell you that Frois’ note was lost in the river. From there, go into the creek inside the Daikan Mansion to find the note on a rock.
After finding all three notes, return to Luis Frois and talk to him to conclude the quest. He’ll invite Naoe to witness a baptism to show her more of his people’s ways.
The Baptism
Go to the docks in Otsu within southwestern Omi to meet with Luis Frois. Talk to him and you’ll learn about how Lady Satoko wishes to be baptized.
You might remember her from the Tea Ceremony as you were hunting down The Golden Teppo. Talk to her and you’ll learn she’s concerned that her husband’s family might retaliate due to her following a foreigner’s ways.
You’ll need to eavesdrop on the baptism guests to see if any of them are planning anything suspicious.
You’ll have three points appear on your map, the southernmost one will progress the quest. A pair of nobles will be discussing some hired ronin that are on the northern road.
Return to Luis Frois and talk to him. You can warn Lady Satoko or Luis Frois about the ronin. This will conclude this quest and start The Threat.
The Threat
After warning Luis Frois about the danger, talk to the monks that’ll be near you after the previous cutscene. Next you’ll need to find the quests who are on the road north of Otsu and south of Sakamoto.
As you travel to the objective, you’ll have people on the roadside warning you about ronin ahead. Once you reach the location, kill the five attackers.
With the attackers dead, talk to Luis Frois to end this quest and start the final quest of the story pack, The Mission.
The Mission
Talk to Luis Frois in Azuchi, Omi. He’ll offer to tell you what he wrote in his latest pages for his book, you can choose to listen or say “I must be going”. There isn’t much to this quest as all you do is listen to Frois share his perspective on Japanese culture.
This concludes the story pack, The Works of Luis Frois. Your reward is 1,000 or 1,100 XP (if you have unlocked the Hideout bonus).
It may not be the most exciting series of quests, it’s interesting to see the interactions of cultures learning about one another.
