Ubisoft has provided an update for Assassin’s Creed Shadows for the Summer. This includes free updates such as New Game+, new Knowledge Ranks, and Hideout upgrades.
Ubisoft has revealed the Assassin’s Creed Shadows roadmap update for the Summer of 2025. With it, we learned the release date for the Claws of Awaji DLC. To top it off, you’ll be receiving free updates for Shadows at the end of July, 2025.
Claws of Awaji Release Date
Let’s start with this as this update is one many of you want to sink your claws into. The Claws of Awaji Expansion has been given a release date of September 16, 2025. Based off the few moments shared in the trailer, it looks like you can expect the story to be intense.
There was a short glimpse of Naoe using her new weapon, the Bo Staff. Based off the couple seconds we’ve seen, she’ll use this staff for grappling opponents. She did this by flipping over a samurai and flinging him onto another.
The teaser also hints that Naoe may have found someone she has been looking for. Though any specific details were not mentioned, so we’ll likely have to wait for an official expansion trailer or the expansion itself to learn more.
If you pre-ordered your copy of Assassin’s Creed Shadows, you’ll receive the Claws of Awaji expansion for free. If you haven’t, you’ll have to purchase it but a price for the expansion has not been revealed yet.
Late July Updates
There are a good chunk of free updates coming on July 29, 2025. It’s primarily expanding replay value and endgame content, but they appear to be some solid updates.
New Game+
If you’re looking to relive your Assassin’s Creed Shadows experience with a lot more skill and flair, you can do so with the New Game+ feature! New Game+ will be available when you complete the last story quests and you’ll roll the credits.
It’s not known which credits as you can activate two of them, one for Naoe and the other for Yasuke. When you start a NG+, all of your story progression will be reset and you can either start with the introductory levels or start right after you inherit the Hideout from Tomiko.
Your Character Level, Knowledge Rank, and Hideout Progression will remain intact. You also get to keep all of the gear you’ve collected up to this point.
Completing a New Game+ run will also get you some unique rewards! The only example given was this lovely katana that Naoe can wield.
Increased Level Cap and New Skill Ranks
The Level Cap will be increased from 60 to 80 and the Knowledge Rank level will be increased from 8 to 10. It’s unknown at this time how this affects your scaling outside of the increased Knowledge Ranks.
It appears that the bulk of these Rank 9 and 10 passives are designed to increase your weapon damage after meeting specific conditions. These include effects such as increased damage on your next hit after a kill, more damage on your next hit after using an ability, etc.
New Project: Mnemosyne
The third project for Assassin’s Creed Shadows has been revealed, Mnemosyne. This can unlock a white and iridescent armor set and kanabo for Yasuke.
At a glance it appears white, but looking closer you see glimpses of color shining off of it.
The kanabo’s spikes also have this iridescent gleam and it leaves a colorful trail when swung! It’s giving off a “Warrior of the Light” vibe as white light can be split apart to reveal the colors of the rainbow, hence the trail.

Animus Hub Updates
Starting July 24, 2025, the Anomalies cycle will move from a 7-day cycle to a 3.5 day cycle. These are the quests you do to increase Project progression, meaning you can fully unlock Projects sooner.
The cycles will refresh on Thursdays at 18:00 UTC / 2:00 PM ET / 11:00 AM PT and Mondays at 6:00 UTC / 2:00 AM ET / 11:00 PM PT.
For completed Projects, you’ll need to collect 10,000 Data Fragments for the extra reward up from 2,500. The developers stated they want to add more ways to get Data Fragments, but will share details about how to do so soon.
Hideout Upgrades
The devs have stated in the Roadmap Update that they’re adding upgrades for Hideout buildings on July 29. What specifically these do are currently unknown, but they emphasized that the Forge will gain two upgrades. We’ll be updating our Hideout guide when new information is available.
September QoL Updates
Sometime in the beginning of September, you can expect some Quality of Life updates. The biggest feature mentioned is the ability to fast forward the time of day. This is a very nice feature as you can better take advantage of gear that applies buffs at night.
Another nice feature is that you’ll be able to defog a map when you find every region’s viewpoint. At the moment before this update, there are inaccessible spots that still have the parchment look on the map.
These should be defogged with this QoL update to help those who were annoyed by this lack of clarity in the map. “Hideout Updates” were mentioned in the QoL update but no specifics were given.
Overall a nice glimpse into the future of Assassin’s Creed Shadows, though many of these QoL updates felt like they should have been baseline for the game. Better late than never I suppose.
