Grounded 2’s Early Access began recently, offering a Founder’s Pack that comes at a very small price bump. Here’s everything that comes with the Founder’s Pack, and if we think it’s worth getting.
Founder’s Pack Pricing and Contents
Compared to Grounded 2’s Early Access Price of 30 USD, the Grounded 2 Founder’s Pack can be purchased for an extra 10 USD on top of that. A rather small price to pay for the upgrade, but what does it come with?
Currently, the Founder’s Pack contains the following items:
- Four Skins for each of the Teens (Mant, Minotaur, Myrmidon, and Rogue)
- Grounded 2 Digital Artbook
- Grounded 2 Soundtrack
- More to come!
Yes, you read that last line correctly. The Grounded 2 Founder’s Edition is planned to receive new content as Early Access goes on. Obsidian has not stated exactly what these additions will be, but as they have stated, they will be cosmetic only and come at no further cost. This means more skins potentially or even special images to place in Picture Frames in-game, as they did with Grounded. Only time will tell, and as more items are added, the list above will be expanded.
Is Grounded 2’s Founder’s Pack Worth It?
We think the Grounded 2 Founder’s Pack is worth the price. Grounded 2 and its Founder Pack together cost less than most modern games, which just makes it harder to pass up. The Artbook and Soundtrack are huge selling points, especially for the early ’90s sci-fi theme the game has.
We think it’s a great way to support Obsidian’s commitment to keeping the game microtransaction-free as well. Whether or not the Founder’s Pack would be considered a microtransaction or not is debatable, but it’s likely to be the only purchasable add-on of any kind. If they keep the trend going from the previous title, it won’t be until the 1.0 launch of Grounded 2 that we see any other purchasable items, likely in the form of a Physical Good bundle as they did with the Fully Yoked Edition.
How to Equip Grounded 2 Founder’s Pack Skins
The Founder’s Pack Skins can be equipped upon loading the game by going to the Game menu under Settings, and selecting the skin to apply with the ‘Founder’s Pack skin display’ drop-down as shown below
This allows us to swap between the skins freely without exiting the game. However to change the Teen we’re playing as, at least in single player, we’d have to select Give Up from the pause Menu, then choose Change Teen from the Respawn menu.
