George Lucas gives a preview of the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art

San Diego Comic-Con took place over the last weekend. We all know that this event is THE EVENT for fans of anything that is considered “geek”. Great panels, exclusive items made for the convention, and special announcements are what make SDCC an iconic event.

What made the 2025 edition extra special was the first-ever appearance of George Lucas. The reason for his presence was to talk about the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art.

The Lucas Museum displays things like concept art, maquettes, and props from the original trilogy and prequel era of Star Wars. Among said items, we will be able to see Luke’s X-34 Landspeeder from A New Hope, a 1:1 replica of General Grievous’ TSMEU-6 Wheel Bike as seen in Revenge of the Sith, and a full-scale version of Anakin Skywalker’s N-1 Starfighter from The Phantom Menace.

Star Wars items won’t be the only theme of the museum. Lucas mentioned that the collection will also feature the first drawing of Flash Gordon from 1934, original art for Marvel’s Iron Man’s debut comic cover from 1968, illustrations from Peanuts’ creator Charles M. Schulz, and paintings and other works from Norman Rockwell, Jack Kirby, and Frida Kahlo, among many others.

The Lucas Museum of Narrative Art will have a collection of over 150,000 objects and is set to open next year in Exposition Park, Los Angeles.
