The Orb Weaver is the second Buggy we can unlock in Grounded 2. We’ll show you how to unlock this Buggy and everything it can do.

What are Buggies
Buggies, or the Tamed Bug Companion System, allow us to hatch and tame Bugs. These useful companions are great in and out of combat, packing tons of utility and other beneficial quality-of-life features. For more general information, check out our Buggies Guide, which covers the system more broadly.
Unlocking Buggies
Unlocking a Buggy requires a few things: A Hatchery, a Nest, and a Buggy Egg. The Hatchery is a building that is the Snackbar Anthill as part of the Missed Connection Main Story Quest by collecting the Turbo Optical Disk found in the chest next to the missing Ominent employee.
Upon returning the Optical Disk to the Ranger Station at any Ranger Outpost, the Hatchery will be available for purchase at the Ranger Station Science Shop.
Spoiler-Free Unlock Summary
Here’s a very quick and spoiler-free summary on where to find the Turbo.
Since the Orb Weaver only becomes available late in the game’s currently available story, we’ll tell you which area has the Turbo Optical Disk, but we won’t pinpoint its location due to surrounding spoilers. It will be immediately clear where it is once you reach it.
The Turbo Optical Disk we need to recover is the one from the Network Center. This makes it a very long trek to reach, so come as prepared as possible to get it in one go.
The next portion of the guide contains story spoilers for Grounded 2’s first act.
Unlocking the Orb Weaver Buggy Recipes
Much like the Red Soldier Ant, the Orb Weaver’s recipes for its nest and saddle come together on the same Turbo Optical Disk. This Turbo Optical Disk can be found in the Network Center.
Being the final area of Grounded 2’s first story act, this area is rife with spoilers. But once we ascend to the Network Center, taking on the final boss of this location, we’ll find the Turbo Optical Disk we need in a room just past the arena.
Inside this room is a Desk with BURG.L’s missing head, and next to it is our Turbo Optical Disk.
Once collected and returned to a Ranger Station at any Ranger Outpost, the Spider Nest and Orb Weaver Buggy recipes will become available.
Where to Find Orb Weaver Eggs
Orb Weaver Eggs can be found in three locations: Under Headless BURG.L, and the Lamp Posts near the north and south sides of the currently available map.
In all three cases, you’ll be pursued by multiple Spiderlings and Orb Weaver Jrs. Much like with the Red Soldier Ant, once we deposit the Buggy Egg into the Hatchery or Egg Cooler, it will stop chasing us.
It’s highly recommended to use the Red Soldier Ant’s Carry ability to haul the egg. This ensures it won’t be dropped if you take a stray hit, but also currently prevents the additional spawns altogether. The second part of this is likely a bug, so don’t rely on it sticking around.
Headless BURG.L
Underneath Headless BURG.L lies one of three Orb Weaver Nests, the most central of the three currently available options. With one of the more common base locations being near the first Ranger Station for convenience, this is often the nearest location to those bases.
Under this Point of Interest is a small cave with an entrance near the North and South sides.
Inside this cave, closer to where BURG.L’s head would have been, is the Orb Weaver nest, which houses our Buggy Eggs.
We recommend defeating the nearby Orb Weaver, Orb Weaver Jrs, and Spiderling before taking this egg. Otherwise, we can opt to just grab it and run. This is especially effective for lower difficulties, where enemies tend to have a harder time taking out the Red Soldier Ant Buggy.
Picnic Table Lamp Post
The Picnic Table Lamp Post is both the furthest North location to get an Orb Weaver Buggy Egg, as well as the most dangerous if we fail to use caution. We still recommend going to Headless BURG.L unless your base is further North, deep in Pine Hill.
Similar to the Headless BURG.L Point of Interest, underneath this Lamp Post is a small cave that can be accessed from the East or West side.
In the North side of this cave lies our Orb Weaver Buggy Egg.
Proceed with caution when approaching this area, especially during the day, as a Wolf Spider calls this place home. He may sleep during the day, but it will make it hard to make a sneaky exit.
Ice Cream Cart Lamp Post
The Ice Cream Cart Lamp Post is nearly identical to the one in the North, and is found on the Southern edge of the Ice Cream Cart section of the Park. It’s a great option to grab the Orb Weaver Egg if we’ve set up a base anywhere near the Oak Tree area.
Much like the other locations, under this Lamp Post resides another small cave that can be accessed from the East or West.
Once inside the cave, we’ll find the Orb Weaver Buggy Egg on the South side of the cave.
Similar to the Headless BURG.L location, an Orb Weaver is the worst we need to deal with here. We can slay it, or choose to just grab the egg and run as before.
This cave also features another hidden cave that leads to Mega Milk Molar. This will require the Tier 2 Omni-Hammer, if it hasn’t been unlocked yet. Be wary of the Scorpions here.
Orb Weaver Abilities
The Orb Weaver Buggy is heavily focused on Combat and Mobility, forgoing utility effects such as harvesting resources.
Compared to the Red Soldier Ant we can get before this, the Orb Weaver has a higher running speed and jump height. This allows us to very quickly traverse the map, especially with the use of Web Bridges.
Both of its active abilities are combat-focused, offering a skill that can scare off weaker bugs or draw in stronger ones, as well as slow and trap bugs in web.
Basic and Charged Attacks
As the Orb Weaver’s Attacks deal Stabbing Damage, this prevents them from harvesting resources. This still makes them great in combat, as not too many bugs resist stabbing. Paired with the Gloom Skewer, we have quite the offensive threat at our side.
In addition to these attacks, the Orb Weaver Buggy can deal damage by running over them as well. This makes them incredibly efficient for clearing out weaker bugs like Mites, Weevils, and Aphids. Note that when running into larger enemies, you will come to a hard stop, but they will still take the running damage, a massive hindrance to getting around quickly.
Passive – Web Crawler
Web Crawler allows the Orb Weaver Buggy to cross Web Bridges without a movement speed penalty. This is a vastly improved version of the Orb Weaver Armor Set Perk, which only reduces the speed we can walk across them.
In addition to this effect, the Orb Weaver Buggy will not be caught in any environmental Webs. Combined with their high speed, this allows us to effortlessly zoom around the map.
Active – Intimidate
Intimidate allows our Orb Weaver Buggy to scare off weaker enemies or draw in stronger ones not already aware of you. This is useful for keeping pesky Larva away from us, as they tend to join in mid-fight when we don’t want them to.
The effect of drawing in the larger creatures isn’t as useful, though, especially without this being a proper taunt. It’d be a much better skill if it did, particularly for characters that prefer not to have the attention on them.
Active – Web Throw
Web Throw allows our Orb Weaver Buggy to shoot web at foes, slowing, or even trapping them if they’re small enough. Great to keep those pesky Aphids and Gnats from avoiding us.
The slow that is applied depends on the creature we are webbing. The stronger or faster the bug is, the less effect this will have. In particular, faster flying bugs, such as Mosquitoes, and most larger bugs will almost entirely ignore this effect. Much like the Orb Weaver Buggy itself, all Spiders also ignore this effect.
