Full casting for Star Wars: Starfighter has been announced by Lucasfilm. They also have begun production of Shawn Levy’s Star Wars movie.
Earlier this year, Ryan Gosling was announced as the lead of the film. This standalone movie is going to take place five years after Episode 9.
Since then, we learned about Matt Smith and Mia Goth joining the cast, but it wasn’t until today that all the names involved were revealed. Here’s who we’ll see on the big screen when the movie drops on May 28, 2027.
Ryan Gosling
This man needs no introduction. Ryan Gosling has appeared in all types of productions. His performance on titles like The Notebook, La La Land, Half Nelson, Blade Runner 2049, and The Driver (among many others) has earned him dozens of awards and over two hundred nominations. Gosling will also serve as Executive Producer of the movie.
Flynn Gray
The young actor started featuring in different projects just three years ago. Since then, he has appeared in Borderline, Wednesday, Sherlock & Daughter, and Going Dutch.
Amy Adams
Another great actress who needs no introduction. Throughout her career, Adams has proved she can play all types of characters.
Lois Lane (Superman), Giselle (Disenchanted), Camille Preaker (Sharp Objects), and Louise Banks in Arrival are just some examples of it. Amy Adams is rumored to play the mother of Flynn Gray’s character.
Matt Smith
Many of you might know Matt Smith for his appearances on shows like Doctor Who (The Doctor), The Crown (Prince Phillip), and House of the Dragon (Daemon Targaryen). Smith is going to be one of Starfighter’s antagonists.
Mia Goth
Joining Matt Smith on the villain side is Mia Goth. The young actress has been around since 2013, but with roles in upcoming films like Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein and Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey, her future is nothing but bright. I’m really excited to see what she contributes to Star Wars: Starfighter.
Aaron Pierre
Aaron Pierre has appeared in projects like Genius (Malcolm X), The Underground Railroad (Caesar), Brother (Francis), and Rebel Ridge (Terry Richmond).
His role is still yet to be revealed but considering his imposing presence I doubt it’ll something subtle.
Simon Bird
The english comedian is known for his role as Will McKenzie in The Inbetweeners, Adam Goodman in Friday Night Dinner, and David Lewis in Everyone Else Burns.
Star Wars is no strange to adding comic reliefs. Though I am wondering if he will have a more serious role.
Jamael Westman
Jamael Westman’s career has been involved in less projects than most of the other people mentioned above but that doesn’t mean he is less capable.
In 2017, Westman landed the lead role in “Hamilton” at the Victoria Palace Theatre. He also played roles in Good Grief, and Identicals.
Daniel Ings
Ings has played multiple roles in TV Series, shorts, TV mini-series and movies. The list includes The Crown (Mike Parker), Instinct (Andy), The English Game (Francis Marindin), and The Gentlemen (Freddy Horniman).
The Production Team
The cast is definitely important but so is the team who is leading the whole thing behind the scenes. This is what can make or break the deal for many people. As you might already know Shawn Levy (Arrival, Deadpool & Wolverine, Stranger Things, Night at the Museum) is going to be the director of the movie.
Ryan Gosling is just one of four executive producers. The remaining three are Dan Levine (Arrival, Free Guy, The Adam Project), Mary McLagen (Deadpool & Wolverine, War for the Planet of the Apes), and Josh McLagen (Titanic, Logan, Real Steel).
In charge of the cinematography will be Oscar-winning cinematographer Claudio Miranda. Some of his work include The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Top Gun: Maverick & F1.
