Learn how to find Mad Goro for the mission Twin Wolves, Twin Hearts in Ghost of Yotei. Atsu and Jubei are now working as one to defeat the Oni. But in order to find a way in, they’ll need to find the madman that escaped the Oni’s castle.

How to start Twin Wolves, Twin Hearts

After escaping the Oni Raider attack on the bridge, you’ll need to meet Jubei at the Northern Matsumae Camp in Ishikari Plane.

Meet Jubei in the Northern Matsumae Camp

As you travel there, you’re going to run into the Masked Man’s Quarry. This quarry is inhabited by Oni Raiders and you’ll need to clear them out to liberate the quarry.

The raiders here are more elite soldiers and will be more difficult to take down. As you clear the camp, be sure to go inside their tents to loot any materials inside.

For your efforts, you’ll gain access to an Altar of Reflection and can safely meet up with Jubei. Don’t forget to loot the pile of materials and chests you also get as a reward.

After going inside the Matsumae camp, you’ll be able to find Jubei and Commander Wada in the large tend with the four banners in front of it.

After the cutscene, follow Jubei to the stables to begin the quest Twin Wolves, Twin Hearts. Word is going around that an eccentric priest is at the summit of a mountain-top shrine.

Find a way to the Shrine

Follow Jubei on horseback until you reach the Azure Wind Shrine. Look for the alcove and help Jubei up so you two can start your climb to the shrine.

You’ll reach a camp full of bounty hunters. Defeat them, loot the chests in the area, then follow Jubei to the burned bridge.

To reach the other side, go to the left of the bridge and look for a tree branch you can grapple onto. Go across, grapple onto another branch ahead, then climb up to get to the other side of the bridge.

Grapple onto the loose part of the bridge and pull it off to clear the way for Jubei. Go into the cave ahead to start your way to the shrine.

Find Mad Goro at the Shrine

As you go through the cave, you’ll fall down a bridge. Up ahead is a chest, keep this in mind for later.

Go outside and platform your way down the path until you see Jubei. To the left of him is the cave exit where you’ll find that chest you missed earlier. Grapple across and swing to the other cliff and climb up.

When you reach the other side, Jubei will go to the right. Go to the left and loot the chest inside the cave to get some Oni Raider masks. After that, follow Jubei and continue climbing up the mountain.

At the summit, you’ll find Mad Goro in priest garb. He’s really committing to the bit, so just do as he says. Wash your hands and pray at the shrine.

Doing this will unlock a major charm, the Charm of Hachiman. This charm increases your Standoff Streak by 1. It’s always useful to increase your Standoff Streak when exploring new areas.

Defeat the Bounty Hunters

Before Mad Goro will share his secrets, you’ll need to help fend off the bounty hunters chasing him. He’ll give you the Oni’s Flame, oil that can be placed on your weapons to ignite them.

Press ☐ to use Oni’s Flame on your currently equipped melee weapon. This is useful for two things, igniting an enemy will interrupt their combos and the flames can burn up an opponent’s wooden shield.

Defeat the bounty hunters at the shrine. If you run out of Oni’s Flames, you can run to Goro and get some off him with △. Avoid using this in the tall grass as you can ignite it, damaging anyone inside it.

After defeating the bounty hunters, Goro will tell you about an abandon mine that leads into the Oni’s Castle. Now that you know his secrets, you can begin your infiltration of the castle.

Once the mission is complete, you’ll find yourself at the camp at the base of the mountain. Loot the area for all of its supplies, and as you leave you’ll have a visitor.

A Saito Outlaw will come in and attack. Defeat him to learn about one of the members of the Yotei Six. If this is your last lead on them, you’ll now be able to track down the Kitsune, along with the Dragon and Snake.
