How to start Guns and Consequences
You can start Guns and Consequences right after accessing Oshima Coast. If you check your map, you’ll see a marker for Matchlock Murata to the west.
You can find Matchlock Murata at his workshop. He’ll be inside the home to the left of the forge where you can find him wounded and bleeding.
Talk to Murata and give him the bottle of sake in the corner of the room he’s in. Then grab the ramrod from the furnace and use it on him. After cauterizing his wound, you’ll start Guns and Consequences
Find Unosuke and his Gang
After sharing the events that led up to his wound, Matchlock Muramata will be available to upgrade your firearms such as the Tanegashima and later the Tanzutsu (Flintlock Pistol).
Upgrading Firearms
To upgrade these weapons, you’ll need coin, metals, and gun parts. You can loot gun parts from enemies defeated in Oshima Coast.
Go to Tokuyama Hills
Unosuke and his gang can be found on the north side of Tokuyama Hills. It’s a short ride on your horse to there, so track the target and follow the wind to them.
You’ll find Onusuke and his gang at a burning house. They’re all looking away from you, so they’ll be easy targets to snipe with your bow from within the tall grass.
Unosuke goes down with one hit as his only threat is using his pistol. Get one hit on him, watch the cutscene, and you got yourself a pistol after you shoot Unosuke with it!
Return to Matchlock Murata
With Unosuke dead and the pistol acquired, return to Matchlock Murata and decide whether to guilt trip him or not, and you’ll complete the quest Guns and Consequences.
Using the Tanzutsu
The Tanzutsu is a great quickfire weapon that’ll deal solid damage while interrupting opponents mid-combo. Use it against targets while they’re in the middle of attack animations so they don’t deflect the bullet.
It’s also good for dealing with ranged opponents as they’re about to fire. They can’t fire at you if they have a ball of lead in their gut.
With how useful this weapon is, it’s worth investing into the ammo and damage upgrades. Keep in mind that this is a close range weapon. If you want precision, use the bow or Tanegashima.
