Ghost of Yotei Sword Kits Guide: Every Sword Appearance and Where to Get It

Endonae by Endonae|

A complete catalog of all sword kits in Ghost of Yotei, detailing their designs and showing you their locations and how to get them.

What are Sword Kits

Sword Kits allow you to customize the appearance of your katana, both your mainhand Wolf Blade and the offhand Dual Katana. They have no impact on your combat performance whatsoever.

With two exceptions, all Sword Kits can be used on both swords, at the same time if you want. You can’t use regular Sword Kits on the Odachi, which has a much smaller selection of dedicated options.

It’s worth noting that the guard is replaced by the one on the Wolf Blade if you equip the Sword Kit to your mainhand katana, so if you like the look of a particular guard, make sure to use it on the offhand Dual Katana.

Many Sword Kits have partners that match particularly well and are clearly designed to be worn together. Keep in mind that the Dual Katana is also displayed a bit more prominently, so it works better visually if that one has the more striking appearance while the Wolf Blade is more subdued.

The vast majority of Sword Kits come from Pillars of the Fallen, killing named enemies, or are for sale at relevant Dye Houses.

All Sword Kits

We’ve included a brief visual description of each Sword Kit’s appearance and notable features, with particular attention paid to colors.

If you’re looking for specific colors, use the filters or search field for the table below to help speed up your search for Atsu’s perfect murder weapon. Otherwise, these are sorted in alphabetical order, not the order they appear in-game.

You can loot Infamous Strike from a Pillar of the Fallen on the southwest edge of Ishikari Plain, near Nishin Fishery.

Kaeru’s Fortune

Kaeru’s Fortune features an almost pure green scabbard with gold guard and dark turquoise grip. The hanging cord is green, but it’s surrounded by brown leather covering a small bit of beige silk. This is one of the simplest Sword Kit designs in the game, especially for these colors.

You can loot Kaeru’s Fortune from a Pillar of the Fallen west of Oshio Fishing Village in Oshima Coast.

Koromodako’s Reach

Koromodako’s Reach features a crimson scabbard gripped by octopus tentacles coming from the black octopus-shaped guard. The grip and hanging cord are also black to match that guard. Please don’t use this on the mainhand katana. That guard is too precious.

You receive the Lotus of Fortune as part of the Digital Deluxe Edition of Ghost of Yotei.

Masaru’s Claw

Masaru’s Claw features a large golden brown fur wrapped around a bronze and silver scabbard complemented by a solid salmon orange-grip. Unlike the other fur sheaths that will make it look like Atsu has a fox tail, this one is less bushy, meant to evoke a monkey tail.

You can loot Masaru’s Claw from a Pillar of the Fallen near the entrance to Teshio Ridge.

Mountain Bear’s Pride

Mountain Bear’s Pride features an unpainted old bamboo sheath wrapped in fishnet with unfinished metal accents and a white hanging cord.

There’s a guy named Manjuro, Bear of Ezo, that you can encounter randomly while exploring in Yotei Grasslands and Tokachi Range. He says he’s training to join Lord Saito.

Once you run into him the third time, you’ll find him failing to attack a member of Clan Matsumae. When it’s all over, you can loot his corpse and claim Mountain Bear’s Pride.

You can loot Raven Fortress from a Pillar of the Fallen near Esan Inlet and Eagle Eye Kondo in Oshima Coast.

Regal Punisher

Regal Punisher is an ornate katana with a greater emphasis on the hilt and hanging cord than the scabbard, which is just a squiggly purple on black design. The hanging cord evokes an obi belt on a kimono with a large detailed piece of peach and green silk tied with a gold beaded chain. It doesn’t match particularly well, but Shinpachi’s Blush is the same style.

You can loot Regal Punisher from a Pillar of the Fallen on the western edge of Teshio Ridge.

Sakura in Moonlight

Sakura in Moonlight features painted sakura branches on a black background. The grip and hanging cord use a deeper maroon red with black underneath. The guard and caps are brass.

You can loot Sakura in Moonlight from a Pillar of the Fallen in Matsumae Residences on Oshima Coast.

Scavenged Victory

Scavenged Victory features a uniform brown scabbard with a small brown pelt tied to the end. The grip is a lighter three-tone brown to tan. It matches the Lone Wolf kit, allowing you to go for the same theme on both katanas.

You can purchase Scavenged Victory from Taro the Scavenger. You’ll find him scavenging after you clear out any Yotei Six Camp, but he also has a permanent base at Dead Man’s Tree in Tokachi Range.

Shinpachi’s Blush

Shinpachi’s Blush features a marble white scabbard and black grip. The star of the show is the hanging cord styled as a piece of sakura-colored silk obi on a kimono wrapped in a golden chain bead. Its partner kit is Regal Punisher.

You can loot the Starlight Abyss from a Pillar of the Fallen atop Mount Yotei, accessible through Yotei Grasslands via the Mount Yotei Shrine.

Tanuki’s Bounty

Tanuki’s Bounty features a tanuki pelt sheath, black hanging cord, and gray-brown grip. Atsu will look like she has a tail if you use this thing.

You can loot the Tanuki’s Bounty from a Pillar of the Fallen at the northern edge of Nayoro Wilds.

Tanuki’s Mischief

Tanuki’s Mischief employs yellow and blue on the grip with a red hanging cord and a raccoon pelt sheath to evoke Sly Cooper, one of Sucker Punch’s earlier franchises. Pair it with the Sly Bandit dye on the Mercenary Attire and Sly Thief Mask if you want to go all in on this easter egg.

You can purchase Tanuki’s Mischief from the Blue Dye House on Oshima Coast.

The Dragon’s Empire

The Dragon’s Empire features an ornate gunmetal dragon embellishment coiled around a relatively simple black scabbard. The grip is brown leather and the hanging cord is a slightly paler black.

You can get The Snake’s Bite from any Onryo Gift Altar after learning The Way of the Dual Katana in Yotei Grasslands and The Way of the Odachi in Tokachi Range.

The Spider’s Snare

The Spider’s Snare features a scabbard meant to evoke the appearance of a long, black spider leg wrapped with a long brown hanging cord (the snare). These colors are repeated on the grip.

You receive The Spider’s Snare after dealing with The Spider in Tokachi Range as part of the quest “Call of the Hunt“.

The Storm Blade

You receive The Storm Blade and learn the Dance of Wrath technique after completing the quest “The Storm Blade” on the southwestern edge of Oshima Coast.

Tiger’s Fang

Tiger’s Fang is Lord Saito’s kit. It combines a faded orange scabbard with metal reinforcements, crimson peach hanging cord, and a white studded hilt.

You receive Tiger’s Fang after defeating Lord Saito at your Home in Yotei Grasslands at the end of the game’s main story.

Toyotaro’s Fang

Toyotaro’s Fang features a black scabbard mostly corroded away to reveal blue underneath and spikes in place of a hanging cord. The grip is wrapped tightly in the same black color.

You can loot Toyotaro’s Fang from Houndmaster Toyotaro near Red Crane Inn in Teshio Ridge.

Twin Wolves

Twin Wolves features a black scabbard with, you guessed it, a pair of twin wolves etched into the ends. The hanging cord and hilt are white, but the grip is black. This kit is only usable on the mainhand katana.

You ask for and receive the Twin Wolves kit when meeting the Oni during the quest “The Belly of the Beast“.

Untamed Loyalty

Untamed Loyalty features a grizzly bear pelt sheath with a blue and white hanging cord and dirty gold grip.

After completing the quest “The Loss We Carry” in Tokachi Range, return to the Prospector’s Camp and feed Shino the bear. It will lead you to Untamed Loyalty.

Unyielding Tempest

Unyielding Tempest is covered with algae and barnacles, as if it were submerged underwater for a long period of time. The untouched base appears to be a dark gray-blue.

You can loot Unyielding Tempest from a Pillar of the Fallen in a precarious place at the southern edge of Yotei Grasslands. There’s an Ainu Askur Trader nearby who says he lost some fancy booze over there too.

Usagi’s Luck

Usagi’s Luck features a simple, pristine scabbard with a red to black gradient, black and white patterned hanging cord, and red caps. The hilt features a golden rabbit embellishment and single black stud on a white background. Its partner kit is Blood in Snow.

The black fox at Sanctuary Grove in Teshio Ridge will lead you to a spot on the ground behind the building to the left-facing the one with the caretaker in it. You may need to complete the quest “The Storm Blade” in Oshima Coast before you can get this kit.

Wind’s Grace

Wind’s Grace features a uniform scabbard with beige swirls that match a ton of different Armors and dyes. The tip of both the scabbard and hilt are curved, which is rather unique among Ghost of Yotei’s kits. The grip and hanging cord are black, which make the kit harder to match.

You can purchase Wind’s Grace from the Crimson Dye Beach in Ishikari Plain.

Wings of Devotion

Wings of Devotion features a black ribbed scabbard with elaborate brown hanging cord surrounded by pearls and a primrose wrapping. The hilt features a brown grip and golden dragonfly, making it a perfect match for the Dragonfly Armor.

You can loot the Wings of Devotion from the guy you don’t know at Smoky Flower Grove near the Great Lake in Tokachi Range.

Yae’s Cruel Brew

Yae’s Cruel Brew features a worn bamboo scabbard with bright, leafy green hanging cord and grip. This kit looks more rustic than most.

You can loot Yae’s Cruel Brew from Old Lady Yae near Arata’s Pond in Tokachi Range.

Yatagarasu’s Judgment

Yatagarasu’s Judgment features a screw-grooved metal scabbard with ornate etching covered by a teal hanging cord. The grip less eye-catching; it’s just black with some brown string wrapped around the center region.

You can purchase Yatagarasu’s Judgment from the Oshima Coast Merchant at Matsumae Residences/Castle.

Yoshitada’s Fourth Pearl

Yoshitada’s Fourth Pearl features an iridescent aogai pattern reminiscent of fish scales capped by a simpler fine textured bronze at both ends. The grip has copper studs and a pearl embedded in a black textured hilt.

You can claim Yoshitada’s Fourth Pearl from the grave at the Ronin Gravesite in Oshima Coast at the end of the Bounty “The Last Brother”.

Yotei’s Charge

Yotei’s Charge features a simple navy blue sabbard with a brush of white at the tip. The grip and hanging cord combine other shades of navy blue with brass and white.

You receive Yotei’s Charge for completing the Reliquary of Resilience near Serpent’s Pass in Tokachi Range. You need to turn the statues so all the foxes are facing the big stone statue in the middle.
