Table of contents
Starting November 24th, 2025, Ghost of Yotei will receive patch v. 1.1. This information was released through a trailer and this article will go over the highlights in that video. This patch will be released for free for those who own a copy of Ghost of Yotei on the PS5.
New Game+
After about two months, Ghost of Yotei is getting a New Game+ in version 1.1. Like NG+ in many other games, you’ll retain gear, upgrades, and skills you’ve collected in your previous playthrough.

This can allow you to pull off things such as using firearms against opponents such as The Oni, The Kitsune, or even against your first fight against Lord Saito! Better yet, just absolutely wreck The Snake by pumping him full of lead in the prologue!

Replay Challenges with Stat Tracking
Events such as duels against Takezo’s Disciples will be replayable if you’re looking to hone your skills against tough opponents. With it comes Stat Tracking which displays the difficulty you’ve beaten the challenge, and how long it to complete.

It is currently unknown which or if any other challenges will be replayable at this time. Hopefully bosses will be on that list as sometimes, players wanting a challenge have an itch that only bosses can satisfy.
Harder Difficulty Modes
Speaking of players wanting a challenge, Harder Difficulty Modes will be added to Patch 1.1. No names of these difficulties were given and it leaves us at VULKK curious as to what mechanics will be introduced to make it more difficult.
Lethal difficulty already requires perfect parry timings, has one-hit deaths both ways, and multiple enemies attacking you at once.
At a glance, it might be granting more common enemies access to more advanced techniques or disarming attacks. Alas, the video provided by PlayStation didn’t provide specifics as to which mechanics are being added for increased difficulty.

New Merchant: Masujiro the Melodious
A new merchant by the name of Masujiro the Melodious will be added with this patch. Compared to other vendors, he sells a wide assortment of goods such as:
- Armor
- Ammo Capacity Upgrades
- Weapon Kits
- Armor Dyes
- Shamisen Dyes
- Charms
- Hats
New Currency: Ghost Flowers
Masujiro the Melodious accepts a new kind of currency known as Ghost Flowers. It’s not known as of this moment how you initially get Ghost Flowers, but he offers ways to gain more through unique charms he sells.

10 New Charms
The trailer for Patch 1.1 glosses over the various charms being added, indicating there are 10+ new charms. Here is an overview of those seen in the trailer and their effects:
| Icon | Name | Effect |
|---|---|---|
| Charm of Taming | Playing the shamisen turns nearby hostile animals into allies. | |
| Charm of the Onryo’s Wrath | After using Onryo’s Will, you have a minor chance to trigger Onryo’s Howl. Upgrade Challenge: Revive yourself with Onryo’s Will. | |
| Charm of Mauling | Wolf attacks make enemies Vulnerable for a minor duration All weapons inflict maximum damage regardless of enemy weapon type. Upgrade Challenge: Defeat enemies made Vulnerable by the wolf. | |
| Charm of Iron Grip | You cannot be disarmed. | |
| Charm of Confusion | Assassinations on enemy Leaders will Confuse them, turning them into an ally for a minor duration. The Leader dies when the effect ends. Upgrade Challenge: Confuse enemy Leaders. | |
| Charm of Misfortune | Curse: No Longer gain resources or ammo from fallen enemies. While cursed, Ghost Flowers have a minor chance to drop from enemies. | |
| Charm of Cursed Spirit | Curse: Actions that use Spirit cost twice as much. While cursed, Ghost FLowers have a minor chance to drop from enemies. | |
| Charm of Frailty | Curse: All successful enemy attacks are fatal. Onryo’s Will is disabled. While cursed, Ghost Flowers have a moderate chance to drop from enemies. Life saving effects from Techniques, Charms, and weapons are disabled. | |
| Charm of Terrors | Increases all chances to Terrify by a minor amount. Upgrade Challenge: Terrify enemies. | |
| Charm of Wolf Stalking | Assassinations in areas where the wolf can be summoned have a minor chance to summon the wolf instantly. The wolf performs a stealth assassination if able. Upgrade Challenge: Assassinate enemies with the wolf. | |
| Charm of Drunken Mastery | While drunk, enemies are Vulnerable. All weapons inflict maximum damage regardless of weapon type. | |
| Charm of the Drunkard | While drunk, your attacks are unblockable, but you will be unable to block enemy attacks. Your drunken state will last longer for a minor duration. Upgrade Challenge: Defeat enemies while drunk. |
Overall these are some fun additions to spice up gameplay with new playstyles. Though the thing that catches our attention are the new charms with Curses.
You debilitate yourself to get a chance to earn Ghost Flowers from defeated enemies. These can be used to purchased more goods from Masujiro, but will it be worth debilitating yourself for them?
30+ New Cosmetics
Over 30 new cosmetic items will be for sale if you have the Ghost Flowers for them. Only a handful of these cosmetics were displayed but these includes Weapon Kits, Hats, and Masks.

New Armor and Armor Upgrades
Two new unnamed Armor Sets were revealed with the version 1.1 trailer. Existing armor will be receiving new upgrades to bolster their effects.
New Armor Sets
While we don’t know their names or effects, you’ll have the ability to gain two new armor sets. Considering the new vendor Masujiro the Melodious sells armor, it’s reasonable to assume that he might be the one selling this armor.
One appears to be utilizing what looks like wolf fur, while another appears to be the same armor set that Ina the Bomb Maker wears. The latter set will most likely be geared towards using grenades.

New Armor Upgrades
The trailer quickly went over the various upgrades that existing armor can receive. The upgrades displayed are as follows:
Ginji’s Guard Armor V
At max rank with Ginji’s Guard Armor, your Tanegashima reload speed increases by a major amount and deflecting bullets goes from granting a minor amount of spirit to a moderate amount.

Mercenary Attire V
The Mercenary Attire will have Thrown Melee Weapon damage increased by a major amount and grant a major amount of Spirit (both of which increased from moderate). Additionally, drinking Sake will grant a massive amount of additional Spirit.

Nine Tail Armor V
The Nine Tail Armor will have its stealth and quickfire capabilities improved. Quickfire weapon damage and duration of status effects inflicted by them are increased by a major amount.
Additionally, enemy detection speed and assassination noises are reduced by a major amount.

Spider Lily Armor V
The Spider Lily Armor will now grant a major chance for enemies to drop throwable weapons. Additionally, staggering enemies will have a major chance to deal major stagger damage against nearby enemies.

Taro’s Armor
Taro’s Armor will increase your maximum health by a major amount while reducing Fire and Cold damage by a massive amount.

Bounty Master Armor
The last preview we got was the Bounty Master Armor. Unlike the previous sets that got two effects upgraded, the Bounty Master Armor only gets one effect upgraded.
All Spirit Gains are increased by a massive amount up from a major amount. It’s still a useful effect as improving the perfect parry window or increasing counterattacks would make it overpowered.

Photo Mode Enhancements and Accessibility
A few new options will be added to Photo Mode which includes Shutter Speed, a composition grid, and new filters. You’ll also be able to toggle your horse on and off in photo mode

The new filters shown are called Morning Wolf, Sakura Blossom, Onryo, Jade Storm, and Ezo Sky. These are blue, pale pink, gold, jade, and a light pale gray respectively.

While not mentioned in the trailer, the PlayStation blog post mentioned the addition of new accessibility options including Directional Button Remapping. The use of the word “options” implies more than one accessibility option being provided, but we only got the one example.
