How to unlock the Fire Shot
To unlock the Fire Shot, you’ll first need to get the Master Teleporter Key in Ice Belt and unlock the Psychic Boost Ball. When you reach the Loading Crane near the entrance to Ice Belt, you’ll get a cutscene showing a glowing blue object being held up by the crane.
The door going upstairs is malfunctioning, use a control beam to activate it from the other side. You can do this from the ground level, or shattering the broken window near the door.
Activate the Spinner with the Boost Ball, use the terminal, and the crane will drop its cargo. It’s an Ice Chip that you’ll need to give to MacKenzie for another upgrade!
What is the Ice Shot
The Ice Shot is a subweapon that shoots icy projectiles that freeze targets. This is a good weapon to slow down mobile enemies such as Psy-bots, temporarily solidify lava and magma, and disengage Ice Locks. Airborne enemies that are frozen will receive fall damage.
The Ice Shot shares the same ammo pool as the Fire Shot and Thunder shot, so keep that in mind as you use either of these weapons.
Freeze your opponents
The Ice Shot allows you to freeze enemies making them easy targets for a missile. If you’re surrounded by numerous mobile enemies, freeze them to isolate targets not yet frozen.
Freeze terrain to access new areas
Whether it’s a water fountain or flowing lava, try shooting it with the Ice Shot. While not applicable in every instance, the Ice Shot can freeze terrain to create platforms or allow temporary access to new areas. If you solidify lava, hit it with a rocket launcher to open the path ahead!
