The Mandalorian and Grogu new trailer is not confusing, it’s hype-building!

A brand new trailer for The Mandalorian and Grogu movie has been released. Here’s my full breakdown and some hidden details you might have missed.

In case you haven’t watched the trailer, check it out and then read my analysis below.

Both Grogu and Din Djarin are hunting down every bad guy they’re able to find. It’s unclear if there was an attempt on their lives or if the reason is just that he wants the Empire to be gone for good. Something very reasonable to believe, considering the events of the past seasons of the show.

In his search for these enemies, Din Djarin talks to an Ardennian who’s attending his small business. He shows some type of New Republic badge, which definitely imposes respect or maybe even fear in the old Ardennian. However, he immediately shuts Din down when he learn that his target is a Hutt.

It’s interesting that no matter who is in charge of the galaxy, the Hutts always maintain their status as some of the most powerful beings. Fun fact, this Ardennian is voiced by the one and only Martin Scorsese.

The Shadow Council is still on the loose and planning their triumphant return. Without Moff Gideon assuming the leadership and undermining Admiral Thrawn’s supporters, their work only became easier.

Considering what happened in the first season of Ahsoka, I’m very confident that the events of this movie will tie in with the second season of Ahsoka, which is set to release later this year.

We see Colonel Ward (Sigourney Weaver) handling a strange Sabacc card to Din Djarin. The New Republic adapted these cards to feature the last known image of wanted Imperial fugitives.

The idea behind it is that spreading these images in popular cantinas would eventually lead to common people recognizing the Imperial criminals. A similar strategy was used by the US Army when the US invaded Iraq.

This planet is Nal Hutta, homeworld of the Hutts and headquarters of the Hutt Council. Stepping on this planet without a direct invitation from the Hutts is nothing but a death wish.

The Hutts have been here for thousands of years; neither the Empire nor the Republic dared to strike the planet. Imagine what they’d do to whoever attempted an assault on their home.

I have the theory that Din Djarin’s attack on Nal Hutta was successful. Obviously, Hutts would never tolerate such a humiliation.

So, in order to get their revenge, they send one of the best bounty hunters available after Grogu, Embo, and his pet Marrok. Embo tracks them down to Nevarro, where he kidnaps the youngest member of the Mudhorn Clan.

Embo has multiple appearances in Clone Wars alongside other renowned bounty hunters like Aurra Sing, a young Boba Fett, Bossk, and Cad Bane. He is one

The two Hutts we see judging and declaring punishment for Din Djarin and Grogu are The Twins. They appeared for the first time in The Book of Boba Fett and are some of the few Hutts remaining.

I love how Grogu prepares for battle, grabbing his wrist-gun and armor like a true Mandalorian.

This trailer shows him doing a few things on his own, revealing how much he has grown since Din Djarin met him. Grogu isn’t just a cute, defenseless creature who needs to be looked after like a baby anymore.

At this point, the little Mandalorian has trained with both Jedi and Mandalorians, fought against deadly enemies, and seen how cruel the galaxy can be.

Grogu has stepped up, and this movie is where he should show it. He’s probably going to rescue his dad for once, and I’m very excited to see that!

One of the things I’m looking forward to is the arena battle between Din Djarin and Rotta the Hutt. Some of you might not know this, but thousands of years before these events, Hutts gained their wealth and power by conquering thousands of systems. How did they do it? By being an unmatched race of warriors.

Eventually, they became the fat and lazy creatures we are familiar with, but before that, they were truly a menace. Rotta is the closest thing we’re getting to that. Regardless of who wins, it’s definitely going to be a hype match!

Din Djarin’s helmet is removed by the Hutts; he also appears in other scenes without it. I’m curious if this will undo everything he did in Season 3 to redeem himself. Perhaps his ideology has changed because it’d be dumb for this “erase” all the trouble he went through to bathe in the Living Waters.

In this scene, Din Djarin is facing what I think is a Dragonsnake. Dragonsnakes are apex predators that dwell in water bodies. In the Clone Wars animated show, Obi-Wan faced one of them on a visit to Nal Hutta, which aligns with everything we’ve seen so far in the trailer. With the small difference that the Dragonsnake from the trailer lacks any bioluminescent spots.

This sign reads “Weathers Apollo”, a tribute to the late Carl Weathers, who played Greef Karga in The Mandalorian and Apollo Creed in Rocky. It’s going to be interesting to see how they address this loss on the show. Hopefully, there are more tributes to him aside from this.

This trailer revealed enough to get me very hyped, but not enough to ruin the whole surprise. I’m sure there are many things yet to be announced. Last week, we got the first reveals of the upcoming toys for the movie. None of them spoiled anything, and I hope that is the case for any future reveals.
