‘The Thousand Steps’ quest – proof that SWTOR Devs are crazy?

Dedication and science working together to prove a crazy fact

If you have a Jedi character, you remember “The Thousand steps” quest, I hope. If not, here‘s a quick recap of it. Well, today I stumbled upon a thread on Reddit posted by user tobzors. He, apparently, had nothing better to do in SWTOR that one day and decided to test his theory and beliefs:

So on Tython there’s this pilgrimage you can do for the refugee twi’leks that involves walking 1000 steps and light some signal fires in order to see Kolovish, the wise woman. Well, as I had nothing better to do today, I started counting the actual steps my character took while walking (sprint not enabled) and I got about 960 – so a thousand steps is actually pretty close. Pictures below show my starting point and where I stopped. http://imgur.com/a/OQ57U

Now I can get back to doing something productive…

Yup, it seems the area really is ~1000 steps long.

As another user (xzenocrimzie) commented in the same thread, I’d like to quote him and say:

I can imagine the smile on the face of the bioware mapper softly saying to themselves “Finally. Someone appreciates my hard work.”

Damn, we need more of this dedication for the new content and areas. Fallen Empire seems to be falling a bit short in that department.
