I went a little over board with the amount of videos attached to this post, but with it being a Wrap-Up and all of the separate bullet points being duscussed by me in a video and/or another post, I thought it might be useful to most of you – easier and quicker way to catch up with all the details. In this article not me, nor the Devs went into great details explaining the various features and additions coming with Patch 5.0. The stand-alone videos and previous summary posts will help you catch up and learn all you want and need about the upcoming expansion.

Knights of the Eternal Throne content
- Tons of performance improvements in patch 5.0.
- Galactic Command – accessible form anywhere only at lvl 70 and for Subscribers. Uprisings are part of it. The Galactic Command window allows quick and easy access to Heroics ,Warzones, Operations, the story Chapters and more. Command Crates are rewarded one per Command level and they contain cosmetic armor, weapons, schematics and end-game gear among other things. Galactic Command is created to promote team play and group content. It rewards a lot more Command XP if you do stuff in a group rather than solo. The chance to pull good high quality stuff from the Crates rises with your Command Rank. In every crate there is always one piece of gear at least. Its rank and value depends on your current rank and your… luck. There’s a weekly CXP cap, but it is only for security reasons there. Designed never to be reached by normal gameplay. Any activity in the game, besides killing a normal mob, rewards the player with Command XP. The armor sets are 6/7 for the full set bonus and the only way to obtain the new sets is through Command Crates.
- Legendary tier of armor is finally coming to SWTOR after 5 years of this category being empty :)
- Uprisings – 4 player group content, fast paced simple action with minimal story involved. Available only at lvl 70 via Galactic Command (only for Subsctibers!). Has 2 difficulty levels at launch – Story and Veteran. Master mode will come early in 2017.
- Dark vs Light – starting at lvl 1, new mechanic, totally different than the old Dark vs Light event. It’s server based. Winning will cause large group bosses to spawn on 6 different planets with ~15 different spawn points available, promoting 16+ player groups clashing against each other or against the monsters and bosses. Gallactic Command will have a highlighted activity that affects Command XP and Dark vs Light points gaining. Every single player will earn rewards based on their character alignment, including the new currency Dark and Light Side Tokens. A short (and laggy :P) demo was shown from a couple of these special bosses – one on Yavin IV, one on Tatooine.
- Expertise is removed from the game. The same gear will not be equally viable in PvE and PvP.
New Class Ability Animations
- General Combat Changes – advanced class is now chosen at lvl 1 instead of 10. All stances for all classes are now passive and there’s no need to activate them manually. New tier of Utilities for each advanced class. Changes to each advanced class, which you can see in this SWTOR Patch 5.0 Class Changes Overview video I did ~2 weeks ago.
- Patch notes are coming Monday afternoon on 28th November with all official changes to classes and the whole game in general.
- Bioware showed gifs of all the new animations for new or changed abilities for all classes. You can see and hear their sound in this SWTOR 5.0 New Class Abilities Animations post or if you prefer, watch the gifs from the full live stream recording I offered at the end of this post.
5-year Anniversary
- Special rewards are coming in celebration of the 5th anniversary of Star Wars The Old Republic – Senya holo trainer. Jawa with a baloon, Stronghold decorations and the Dromund Kaas + Coruscant strongholds for 5 credits.
- The SWTOR5 collage is still going on. You can find more details about this on swtor.com/swtor5
Stream and Blog Plans
- There will be more live streams from Bioware coming in December and January. Full schedule is coming later next month.
Q&A
Q: Is my insert-favorite-companion-name coming back with KOTET? If not, when when?
A: Same answer as last week – KOTET focuses on main plot and story. Companions’ stories are secondary and/or non existent at all. The terminal on Odessen will still be available for you to bring back unofficially all of your companions and play with them or make them work for you on the crafting table, but they will not be returning officially for now.
Q: Do you earn CXP from PvP?
A: Absolutely. Ranked PvP rewards a lot more CXP than regular Warzones.
Q: Repair costs in 5.0?
A: All is being monitored and Bioware will keep doing adjustments after the expansion goes live.
Q: How do still-classes like Gunslinger and Sniper are to cope with the fast paced action in Uprisings?
A: It’s all been tested and Bioware believes all classes are balanced with their apropriate new changes and new abilities coming with 5.0.
Q: PvP changes for 5.0?
A: The biggest one is class balancing. New PvP season will begin on day 1 of KOTET too.
Q: Command XP going legacy wide?
A: No way. No plans for now. In case you reach the current Command Rank cap, there will be in the future possible bonuses and boosts for your next character. Not clear yet.
Q: What about Alliance Supply Crates?
A: The S+Alliance Supply Crates will continue to drop from Heroic Missions, as they did in 4.0.
Q: Gold spammers?
A: The war rages on. The devs beg you to keep reporting them and they will keep fighting them.
Q: What happens to not complete and active missions when 5.0 launches?
A: All not complete active missions will be reset when the new patch hits the servers. It’s been like that with all previous expansions.
Q: New strongholds?
A: Not in KOTET launch.
Q: What happened to the Dark vs Light companions?
A: Everyone will get the Light Side chiss sentinel on Tuesday!
