Director Rian Johnson is currently in Japan to promote Episode VIII of our favorite Saga – Star Wars The Last Jedi. During an interview, he announced that his good friend Joseph Gordon-Levit (Remember Tommy from 3rd Rock from the Sun?) has a cameo role in the film. The actor is voicing over an alien. The duo worked together for the movie Looper from a few years ago.
During the same interview Rian announced that the movie is nearly finished and the crew has only a few days worth of work left. Don’t forget, The Last Jedi premiers on 15th December 2017!
Also, in the same clip shared below you will find out that Rian has not yet considering to take up the role of a Director for Episode IX. He even rejected the rumor that Disney already spoke to him about that. As we know Disney left the “pilot seat” for Episode IX empty after Colin Trevorrow was fired. Rian admitted that he’s been 100% concentrated on The Last Jedi and still has no answer as to what might happen in the future. It is likely that he (or someone else) has already accepted, but it is not the time yet for us to officially get a confirmation. For a company like Disney, it’s highly unlikely that they would fire a movie director without having a back-up plan and a replacement ready to take over.
