Earlier this month Ubisoft announced the PC exclusive DLC that will allow players to modify Assassin’s Creed Origins with almost limitless possibilities. This DLC was announced to be free to all players, who own the game.
On 18th of April the company released a ~5 GB large update that introduces the Animus Control Panel. This tool is available in the game – it is a part of the Ubisoft’s own client Uplay overlay.
HOW TO ACCESS THE ANIMUS CONTROL PANEL
To access the ACP, you need to log in to your game and hack one of your existing saves by marking it and pressing “Q”. Don’t worry, hacking here doesn’t mean something bad.
This will create a new save file on a new slot and here you will now be able to access the new tool and play with the many settings from the Uplay overlay. You can do that by either pressing Shift + F2 or clicking on the Animus Control Panel button to the right side of the screen.
ANIMUS CONTROL PANEL OPTIONS
You to change around 70 different parameters, grouped in nine categories:
- Hero: General
- Hero: Fighting
- Hero: Progression
- World: General
- NPC: General
- NPC: Fighting
- Factions: Hero vs NPC
- Factoins: NPC vs NPC
- Interactibles
When you mouse over each one of the available for editing parameters, a brief description will appear to help you better understand what exactly you are changing and how. Some of the editable options in the ACP will require you to restart the game before they take effect. Examples for that are the filters for Health Points and the various NPC Level Scaling.
The most interesting to many of you would probably be the skin variations. There are a total of 21 different Characters you can change your appearance to:
They are all well known NPCs from the game, so you have already probably seen them all during your adventures. Changing from one skin to the next is immediate and you don’t need to reload or exit the save. All of the appearances are only visual changes. You will still use Bayek’s abilities, weapons, armor and upgrades.
As you play around with the various settings and filters, be mindful that you may create serious problems for yourself. Altering the default behavior of NPCs, your Hero, the environment, can have devastating effect to the living and breathing world of Assassin’s Creed: Origins.
While playing with one of the unique skins from the Hacked Animus Control Panel, you cannot change outfits in the Gear screen. If you switch to Bayek again, the option to use any of the outfits for him is available again.
ANIMUS CONTROL PANEL PRESETS
At the very top of the Animus Control Panel there are three default presets for you to choose from:
- Hardcore Stealth – Play the game like a real assassin. It’s easy to get detected, but if you succeed you can kill any enemy with one deadly strike.
- God Mode – Play the game like a master. Unleash supernatural power on your enemies.
- Mad World – Try to survive in this aggressive environment. Stay away from sandstorms!
You are totally free to change anything and save it as your own preset, of course.
