Vampyr comes locked to 60 FPS on a PC. There are two quick and easy methods to remove that cap. Follow the steps explained below to enjoy a butter-smooth high framerate!
The game doesn’t allow you to unlock its FPS through a menu option, but this doesn’t mean it’s hard to do either. The two solutions are separate from each other and if you do not succeed with the first, you should try the second. According to many the second solution is a lot better and has a nearly 100% chance to work.
Unlock Framerate in Vampyr via Editing the GameUserSettings File
To unlock the game’s resolution with this method you need to open an .ini file from the game and edit it.
- Head C:\Users[Username]\AppData\Local\AVGame\Saved\Config\WindowsNoEditor\GameUserSettings.ini.
- Find the row with “FrameRateLimit=0.000000” (should look like this by default)
- Replace the value with 144.000000 – it should now be “FrameRateLimit=144.000000”
As I mentioned in the opening text, this method may not work if your game is not on Drive C or for another reason. If this is the case, then head to the more secure second method, described below.
Unlock Framarate in Vampyr by Editing the Engine file
This is the better and more reliable method. Follow the steps to uncap the FPS:
- Open “Run” by pressing “Win+R” on your keyboard.
- Paste the following there: “%LOCALAPPDATA%\AVGame\Saved\Config\WindowsNoEditor”
- Open the “Engine.ini” file with notepad.
- Add the following two lines at the bottom of the file:
[/script/engine.engine]
bSmoothFrameRate=false
After that save and close the file. Now you should be able to start the game and enjoy uncapped Framerate on your PC. The maximum FPS that can be reached depends on your hardware configuration, of course.
If you’ve got a G-Sync enabled monitor like this one for example or, of course a FreeSync one, you can enjoy a buttersmooth gameplay at whatever framerate you can push out of the game. On my hardware configuration Vampyr is running stable at ~100 FPS.
