Monolith released a big update to Middle-earth: Shadow of War on 17th of July. Here are all Five new Masks and the Servant’s Blackened Armor
Monolith released the final major content update to Middle-earth: Shadow of War on 17th of July. Here are all Five new Masks and the Servant’s Blackened Armor Legendary Gear!
This might be the last major content and balance update to the game, but the good news is that it is completely 100% free for all players, who own the base game. The July Update brought a ton of changes in many aspects of the gameplay, introduced new mechanics and gave us 20 more levels (level cap is now 80).
In this article I will focus your attention on the five new Masks that Monolith added as rewards to the final Act IV of the game’s story – the Shadow Wars. This part of the game has been shortened significantly – three stages and 5 Fortress Defenses in total (down from 10 and 20 accordingly). The rewards for completing the Shadow Wars include Skill Points and new Legendary Gear – the Servan’t Blackened Armor and five new masks.
If you have completed previously the Shadow Wars in your saved game, all of the rewards will be granted to you when you first log in after the 17th of July Update. If you are new player and want to learn more about the Shadow Wars, check the bottom of this article for more info.
All of the items belong to the Legendary Ringwraith gear set and stack up with its Set Bonuses.
The set bonuses are hand-picked by the developers, but if you wish to, you can still re-roll the secondary boost for each one of the masks and the armor.

What are the Shadow Wars
The Shadow Wars is the final stage of the story. It’s also known as Act IV of the Shadow of War storyline progress. After the changes from 17th July, it now consists of three stages, where you have to take the Fortresses of Mordor, followed by ten Siege Defense challenges in which you have to defend these Fortresses. At the end of Act IV you will see a unique short cinematic scene, showing you the true fate of the ranger Talion.
As described above in the article, you will get various rewards alongside the Skill Points and Experience from completing the Shadow Wars.
After the end, you will enter what is known as the “Endless War” or the EndGame – you will keep roaming Mordor and defend fortresses or re-take them if you lose a battle. Nemesis Missions, new orc captains and various online challenges will keep you entertained.
That’s all I have for you on this topic. I hope you found the guide useful and I hope you will have a lot of fun roaming the regions of Mordor :)
