UPDATE 2
More than eight and a half hours after the stream started, the code was finally finished and uploading began. This is now happening live in front of over 145 000 viewers on CD Projekt Red’s live Twitch channel.
UPDATE 1
The live stream has been going on now for about five hours. It is currently being watched by over 43 000 concurrent viewers. Another source backs the expectations that the code is for a video. According to gamestar.de, the code is a video announcement for Cyberpunk 2077. Reddit has been hard at it, trying to solve it before it ends.
Several Reddit users have reported that some parts of the code are actually keys for GOG.com games. It is unclear if the codes are valid, though. Most likely not and that is just pure coincidence. Every single example I have stumbled on Reddit so far, posted by other readers and viewers of the stream, is a “this code is already taken”. Here’s an examplary image taken by YourEyesRevealYou:
This could all be just coincidence or intended. It is unlikely that anyone would be able to tell what exactly this code is for before it is officially completed and the stream ends.
Fun fact: In these first five hours since the stream started, CD Projekt Red’s Twitch channel has gained over 15 000 new followers.

As of right now CD Projekt Red has been live streaming what appears to be a random string of code on their official Twitch channel for nearly two hours. The event is simply entitled “Data Transmission in Progress” and is under the “Cyberpunk 2077” Game Category on Twitch.
The stream has been showing this wall of text, which is in fact some sort of code, for over 120 minutes now. Because this was not a previously announced event, it is unclear what the purpose of the studio actually might be. We’ll probably have to wait for it to be over to be able to tell.
On the live chat as well as on the Cyberpunk 2077 Reddit boards there are already some strong speculations of what this might be. It is impossible to decipher it live, so at this point it’s all a guessing game. The code appears to be of series of PNG images. This might mean that we will get a short new trailer or even a glimpse of gameplay.
During Gamescom last week CD Projekt Red showed (once again behind closed doors) the same gameplay demo that they brought to E3 earlier this year. The biggest difference, according to live viewers and spectators, is that this time the video featured the male V, not the female.
It has been confirmed also during the Gamescom event that Cyberpunk 2077 has hit a milestone in production. In an interview with Engadget, the devs confirmed that the whole game is now playable from start to finish. Of course, there’s still a lot of work to be done and game is not going to be ready any time soon. There’s still no official release date at this point… unless this mysterious stream actually reveals one. We’ll have to wait for it to end, then decipher it and see what its contents actually are.
The funny thing is there are over 18 thousand people watching a black screen with white lines of code. This game’s hype is simply through the roof and I am happy to be on board of the Hype train! CD PR deserves it!
