Today Disney released a new clip on the official Star Wars YouTube channel, revealing some background information on the main set of characters from the upcoming anime-inspired kids show Star Wars: Resistance.
Time to meet Team Fireball!
These guys are not aware of the bigger picture and what’s going on in the Galaxy, says Dave Filoni – creator of the show and continues – They need each other to survive and make money. The show’s goals is to offer a sense of adventure and fun childhood.
The hero of the series is Kaz. Although he is already a good pilot, he’s still growing up and has not fully realized everything about the world he lives in and the dangers that surround him (Luke, anybody?). Kaz’s job is to spy on the First Order and this task is given to him by none other but Poe Dameron – voiced over by Oscar Isaac himself. Kaz is a bit clumsy and inexperienced, he also likes to get involved in big troubles often. His heart, however, is in the right place, says Justin Ridge – executive producer and supervising director of the show. The voice of Kazuda Xiono is provided by Christopher Sean, who is primarily known for his work in Television.
Jarek Yeager is the old school figure in the team. He was a pilot for the Rebellion many years ago and is now trying to live a quiet life of a mechanic on the installation station. He is also the father-figure of Team Fireball, added Justin Ridge. Yeager is voiced by Scott Lawrence, who appeared in Avatar, Star Trek: Into Darkness and Fear the Walking Dead.
Suzie McGrath is the voice behind Tam Ryvora. The actress has only a few TV roles on her back before she was cast for Tam’s role in Resistance. Tam works for Yeager as a mechanic. Her past is quite interesting though – she was a racer pilot until she lost her ship. Suzie McGraph describes her own character as tough and full of attitude. She prefers to keep her emotions down.
Next in line is the weirdo Neeku. He’s that over-hyped and overexcited genius. Like all other members of Team Fireball, he also has a big heart and cares deeply for his friends, but is also more naive than the others. This last perk of his character, I’m guessing, will get him in a lot of trouble during the course of the show.
What’s interesting to mention, is that in this clip Disney officially announces (not for the first time, but still…) that the show is targeting a younger audience. The fact that its premiere is scheduled for 10pm on 7th of October, is a little confusing and maybe that’s why the community rejected it right from the beginning. The first official trailer was received with an overwhelming negativity.
