Assassin's Creed Odyssey Update Patch Notes

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey: Mastery Levels System Explained

Vulkk by Vulkk|

Ubisoft added a new Mastery Level system, a few new Quality of Life features and fixed a large number of bugs in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey Update 1.1.1

Updates 1.1.0 and 1.1.1 came together in a bundle to Assassin’s Creed Odyssey on November 29th. The big changes are part of 1.1.0 with only a couple of quick fixes squeezed in urgently to form 1.1.1 before the release date. The size of the patch is roughly 2.5 GB with small variations for the PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One editions.

The collection of new features, fresh content and fixes for the month of November ends with the introduction of a highly demanded new feature – Mastery Level System –  that allows players to spend Skill Points in a more meaningful way at high levels. Several new quick travel points have been added to key locations – the Mythical Creatures on the map of Ancient Greece.

A new option to quickly Dismantle items at the Blacksmith is a great quality of life improvement indeed. The update also includes a large number of bugs fixed, among them several quest-related issues. The December DLC and Free Content updates are also quite intriguing!

Let’s take a closer look at each one of these new additions in more detail!

What are Mastery Levels

This brand new system is an addition to the already existing skill trees – Hunter, Warrior and Assassin. It becomes available after level 50 and allows you to keep spending Ability Points in a meaningful way to add passive bonuses to various statistics for your character’s combat abilities.

Assassin's Creed Odyssey THE NEW MASTERY LEVEL SYSTEM

The Master Level system has the same three branches like the original trees – Hunter, Warrior and Assassin. With a total of 72 Master Level slots in total, you would hardly ever run out of things you want to boost while leveling and even beyond 70. On top of that each one of these passive perks can be stacked up to 20 times each.

The best part is that these bonuses stack on top of your already existing perks from your weapons, armor and Skill Tree bonuses.

At any point you can reset the Mastery Level with the click of a button. The reset is separate from the original Skill Trees and costs a very affordable amount of Drachmae (based on your current level).

NEW QUICK TRAVEL POINTS TO MYTHICAL CREATURES

Ubisoft decided to help you out by placing a new quick-travel point next to each one of the mythical creatures in Ancient Greece.

Regardless of where you are on the map, now you are able to quickly and easily reach Medusa, the Sphinx, Steropes and so on.

IMPROVED BONUSES FOR LEGENDARY ARMOR SETS

Did you know Assassin’s Creed Odyssey has 12 Legendary Armor sets, each one with its own five items and a set bonus for wearing them all at the same time? The biggest issue many players had with these prior to the release of 1.1.1 is that these sets did not offer enough of an incentive to sacrifice additional perks slots to gain the set bonus.

Odyssey Mastery Level System

This has already been fixed. Ubisoft simply doubled and tripled (in some cases even more!) the bonuses for almost all of the Legendary sets.

Here’s a list of all of them:

  • Greek Heroes Set: +30% All Resist (From 15%)
  • Snake Set: +30% Intoxicated Damage and Weakening Effect (From 10%)
  • Agamemnon Set: +100% Burning Rate (From 50%)
  • Immortal Set: 100% Health Restored on Death, 1 Minute Cooldown (From 20% Health, 2 Minute Cooldown)
  • Amazon/Achilles Set: 5% Damage Dealt Restored as Health (From 2%)
  • Arena Fighter’s Set: 50% Health Restored with Overpower Abilities (From 10%)
  • Demigod Set: +30% Damage with All Abilities (From 10%)
  • Pilgrim Set: -100% Adrenaline Consumed by Shadow of Nyx (From 40%)
  • Spartan War Hero Set: +50% Damage with Warrior Abilities (From 15%)
  • Artemis Set: +50% Damage with Hunter Abiltiies (From 15%)
  • Pirate Set: +50% Damage with Assassin Abilities (From 15%)
  • Pegasos Set: +200% Adrenaline on Perfectly Timed Dodge (From 50%)
  • Odysseus Set: Gain 50% of an Adrenaline Segment with Hunter Abilities (From 25%)
  • Spartan Regenade Set: +100% Crit Damage with Warrior Abilities (From 50%)
  • Athenian War Hero Set: All Arrows Pierce Shields (No Change)
  • Nemean Lion Set: No Change
  • Hades Set: No Change

More game improvements

If you want the full list of changes from 1.1.0 and 1.1.1, check out the official Patch Notes. Here I have extracted some of the most interesting and important bug fixes and quality of life improvements.

First, let’s mention a few quest-related bugs that have been squashed. If you were stuck on any of these, now you should be able to continue:

  • Addressed an issue in Gluten Free where Lagos’s son could pop up in dialogues when released before triggering the cut-scene.
  • Addressed an issue in A Mother’s Prayer that prevented the player from completing the quest.
  • Addressed an issue in To Find a Girl where Thugs would chicken out of combat if their leader is knocked out in front of them.
  • Addressed an issue in Barnabas Abroad that could prevent the quest from being completed.
  • Addressed an issue in The Final Push that could cause the quest’s objective to disappear.
  • Addressed an issue in Pirate Hospitality that prevented the quest objective to update.
  • Addressed an issue in Unified Front where Euneas would sail away from the naval battle instead of helping the player.
  • Addressed various issues in the Divine Intervention questline that could prevent the quest from being completed.
  • Addressed an issue in Follow That Boat where Kleio could spawn underwater if the player cleaves the ship during the follow Erina objective.
  • Addressed an issue in Breaking Bread where the recommended Quest level differs from the actual level of enemy NPCs in the Fort of Arkas.
  • Addressed an issue in A Bloody Feast where the player could maintain a full bounty bar under certain circumstances.
  • Removed a dramatic black fade from a cut-scene in Athlete.

The conquest battles no longer scale with the player’s level, but are rather based on the region’s level.

You can now dismantle your unwanted gear pieces directly at the Blacksmith. While on the subject of the Blacksmith – the amount of crafting material being bought can now be increased significantly faster.

New Quests

Episode 1 “Hunted” will not include a new region for you to explore. So far there is no confirmation that any of the two DLCs, included in the Season Pass, will feature new territories. The map of Ancient Greece is large enough as it is, perhaps this is the main reason why Ubisoft decided to take a new approach to additional content with the DLCs.

The Legacy of the Hidden Blade costs $26 retail as a stand-alone purchase. It is also included in the Season Pass, which is $40 and includes both expansions.

Assassin's Creed Odyssey The Lost Tales of Greece Part 3

Also in December, the third quest from the “Lost Tales of Greece” series will be released. “The Image of Faith” will be accessible after Episode 5. The starter NPC is located in Elis – look for a blue quest giver icon.
