The Punisher Season 2 drops on January 18 on Netflix. But who will The Punisher drop this season?
The Punisher season 2 will be launched on January 18 on Netflix. Netflix announced that with a beautiful trailer and a synopsis of The Punisher season 2.
The Punisher season 2 synopsis
Frank Castle (Jon Bernthal) can run but he can’t hide from who he’s meant to be. Season 2 finds Frank in all too familiar territory. With Castle’s former brother-in-arms Billy Russo (Ben Barnes) slowly beginning to heal from the traumatic brain injury Frank inflicted on him, it’s only a matter of time before Billy starts to put the pieces of the puzzle back together.
It sounds like an exciting season. Last season The Punisher was best buddies with Billy Russo until he found out that Billy was responsible for killing Frank’s family. In the end fight Frank mutilated Billy so bad that they had to sow his face back together. And Frank inadvertently created the archenemy Jigsaw.
Things we need to see in The Punisher Season 2
A complete breakdown of the character of Dinah Madani. If you look at season one, it’s not The Punisher who takes the hardest hits. It is Agent Madani. Think about it: She lost her partner. Her boyfriend turned out to be a corrupted warlord. She got shot and she barely survived a car crash. If that doesn’t break a person then I don’t know what will. Turn her into an alcoholic or someone promiscuous. And tear her down layer by layer. Ofcourse, bring her back to the path of the good people after that.
Frank Castle and Karen Page had some amazing chemistry on screen in Daredevil Season 2 and in The Punisher Season 1. I have always wondered what it would be like if the two would get involved with each other, romantically. If they do then I hope it is a mature display on screen and not another Dawson’s Creek. We can watch that on basically any other teeny bopper show.
John Pilgrim was a dangerous adversary in the Punisher Max series. I kind of hope that they establish a very well rounded background story. In the comics John Pilgrim was called Mennonite and he turned to religion after he came home from the war. Before that he was a violent soldier and if the comics are any indication, we may see Pilgrim go from war hero to religious follower and then turn dark to become Mennonite. Dare I say that The Punisher will have a hand in that process too?
Things I will miss in The Punisher Season 2
What I will miss the most is cameos. And I don’t mean Stan Lee’s cameos , although they will be missed sorely ofcourse.
No, I mean Marvel’s Netflix has build up a very rich and vast universe. I was hoping to see a cameo of Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Iron Fist or Luke Cage. However, The Punisher is a lone wolf and we won’t see them. Also with the recent cancellations of Daredevil, Luke Cage and Iron Fist, it is no wonder that we won’t see any.
I really wanted to see Micro again in the second season. In the comics, Micro turned on Frank Castle saying that Frank has lost sight of what the mission was. It would have been really interesting to see if something like that happened in the second season.
